Quotations from Scripture in this book are from the King James Version.

“The circumstances of a saint’s life are ordained of God. In the life of a saint there is no such thing as chance. God by His providence brings you into circumstances that you cannot understand at all, but the Spirit of God understands. God is bringing you into places and among people and into conditions in order that the intercession of the Spirit in you may take a particular line. Never put your hand in front of the circumstances and say–I am going to be my own providence here, I must watch this, and guard that. All your circumstances are in the hand of God, therefore never think it strange concerning the circumstances you are in. Your part in intercessory prayer is not to enter into the agony of intercession, but to utilize the common-sense circumstances God puts you in, and the common-sense people He puts you amongst by His providence, to bring them before God’s throne and give the Spirit in you a chance to intercede for them. In this way God is going to sweep the whole world with His saints.”

1  Three Dollars in Whitehall, Montana

About a week ago I hitchhiked from West Yellowstone to Belgrade, Montana. From Belgrade I started walking west on I-90. I walked a mile or two and these two young guys picked me up and dropped me off in Whitehall.

I tried thumbing west on the interstate, but the Lord told me to shut it down for the day. So I walked into Whitehall and spent the rest of the day at the library.

Whenever I go to the library, I check my two blogs and or any emails. I usually spend the rest of my time reading other blogs—mostly Christian blogs.

I stayed there at the library in Whitehall till after 7 PM. I then walked to this convenience store across the street from the railroad tracks. I left my backpack outside and walked inside to get a cup of coffee.

I was now down to my last six bucks, a half a loaf of bread and a can of soup. A small number of customers came and went from the convenience store as I slowly sipped on my coffee.

I really don’t care for coffee, but in the winter time, a hot cup of joe warms up the bones. I usually put a lot of cream and sugar in my coffee for the extra calories. I would much rather drink hot tea, if it is available. I noticed on the weather forecast that it might get down to 18 degrees F, so that was my ulterior motive for buying a 24 ounce cup of coffee.

After I finished my coffee, I walked outside to my backpack. I saw what looked like two dollars stuffed into one of my straps on the top of my pack. I was pleasantly surprised. I walked back into the convenience store and told the lady at the cash register about the two bucks that I found on top of my pack. She smiled and I bought some hot popcorn for a dollar. On closer examination, I noticed that it was three dollars that someone had given me. I was very grateful.

After I finished my popcorn, I walked back outside, lifted my backpack onto my shoulders and walked a couple of blocks to the east. I then crossed the railroad tracks and towards the rodeo grounds. I found a machine shed on the outskirts of town. Someone had obviously kept some cattle or horses in that shed: I found a little stall with some hay on the ground. I shook and scattered the hay on the ground (for insulation), unrolled my two sleeping bags on top of the hay, crawled inside my bags and eventually fell asleep. It was a cozy and warm place to sleep for the night.

The next morning, I had a few pieces of bread and a can of cold soup. I then headed to the convenience store and bought a small cup of coffee.

I then walked back to I-90 where I stood on the side of the road for maybe half an hour.

I started to get cold, so I started walking west. I walked for around two miles and this tractor-trailer pulled over. I ran up to the cab and opened the door. The truck driver grabbed my backpack and I climbed up into the cab.

This guy’s name was Walentin and he was originally from Russia. He spoke some English. I told him that I was a Christian; he said that he was also a Christian and that he went to a Pentecostal church in the state of Washington.

We didn’t talk a whole lot because his English wasn’t so good. We drove west through Butte. We drove past this sign near Garrison which read “Jesus Christ is Lord over this valley”. Walentin pointed at the sign, smiled and gave me a thumbs up and I said “Praise the Lord!”
Walentin dropped me off in Missoula. I walked to the library where I spent fifteen minutes on the internet. I then walked across town to Brooks Avenue.

I had just walked past the McDonald’s when this young man ran up to me carrying a white sack.

“This is for you,” he said. He gave me the sack and ran back to the McDonald’s.

“Thank you and God bless you,” I replied as I looked back at the McDonald’s. I was very grateful.

I walked to this gas station where I set my backpack down. I sat down on my backpack and looked inside the sack. There were three sandwiches: two double cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich.

I began eating a cheeseburger when this lady walked over to me. She had been filling up her vehicle with gas when I arrived at the gas station. She asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was hitchhiking and that I was headed to Lolo. She said that she could give me a ride. So I grabbed my pack, put it in her vehicle and we drove off.

Her name was Shannon and she told me that she used to live in Driggs, Idaho. I told her that I had hitchhiked through Driggs many times over the years. I told her that I used to stay with a couple of friends in Victor whenever I passed through, but their house burned down back in 2012 and one of my friends died in the fire; his dad barely escaped the fire with his life.

“You knew George and Mike?” Shannon asked a bit surprised.

“Sure did. Mike is related to some friends of mine that live in Jackson, Wyoming. George and Mike let me sleep on the kitchen floor whenever I came through town.”

“A lot of people knew George. We hung out at the same bar in Victor. There were a lot of wet eyes in the Driggs area when people found out that George died in the fire.”

Shannon drove to this store where she bought some dog food. I helped her carry a bag of dog food to her vehicle. We then headed south to Lolo. She dropped
me off at this gas station at the intersection of U.S. 93 and U.S. 12 and we said goodbye.

I walked west on U.S. 12 for a mile or so and camped in a shed near the river that night.

2  A Short Hitchhiking Trip

Last Thursday, Susie gave me a ride over Cedar Pass to U.S. 395 north of Alturas, California. I walked a mile or so and got picked up by a tractor-trailer.

The driver was Ken and he said that he had picked me up before a few years ago. He drove me to Lakeview, Oregon and dropped me off near the library.

I walked into the library and asked the librarian if there was a barbershop close by. She said there was a barbershop on main street.
I spent some time on the Internet and then walked to the barbershop.

I was sitting in the barber’s chair getting a haircut when this older man and woman walked into the shop. Before they walked in, I gave Diane–the lady giving me a haircut–my card. Diane gave my card to the lady who had just walked into the barbershop.

The lady looked at my card and we started talking about my hitchhiking travels. Then she said, “I’ve read your book.”

I said, “High Plains Drifter?”

“Yes. A friend of mine bought your book and then gave it to me.”

This was quite a surprise.

She later told me that I should go to the local newspaper and maybe they would do a story about my travels.

After my haircut, I walked to the offices of the Lake County Examiner. I talked with Ryan Bonham, who is a reporter for the Examiner. He told me to come back at 2 PM.

I walked to this motel in Lakeview and got a room. I made some money working for John and Susie, so I thought I would get a motel room. I ended up staying in Lakeview for two nights.

I walked back to the Examiner and talked with Ryan Bonham for about an hour. The last time a reporter interviewed me for a story was in Hamilton, Montana in 2008–the Ravalli Republic Newspaper. That reporter interviewed me for about a half hour.

After the interview, Ryan told me that the article would come out the following Wednesday or in the next two or three weeks. We shook hands and I walked back to the library.

On Saturday morning, I left Lakeview and walked north on U.S. 395. I thought that I would go to Burns and then head north to Washington state or head east towards Boise.

This guy named Chuck picked me up and took me to Bend and then to Redmond, Oregon. He had pruned some trees for John and Susie a few years ago. From Redmond I walked a couple of miles and hitchhiked to Prineville.

I got a room at the City Center Motel in Prineville. I watched Road to Perdition starring Tom Hanks and some other Irish gangsters while I was there. I have always thought that Prineville was a real nice town.
The next day, I got two rides to John Day. From John Day, I got a ride to Seneca with this old codger in a beat up pickup. He was wearing a worn out cowboy hat and had a few bags of groceries in the cab of his pickup. I asked him how old his pickup was and he said that it was a ’63. He said it was built before I was born. I told him that I was born in 1960.

In our conversation, he said that he had spent some time in prison years ago. When he got out of prison, he did some hitchhiking. For some reason, he thought that I said that I was born in 1946. I said, no, I was born in 1960. He said, you look like you are 46. I then asked him if he was born in 1946. He said, no, that he was born in 1929. Yeah, I probably said, you look older than 46–you look older than your ’63 pickup which makes sense if you were born in 1929. 1960, 1946, 1929: I guess it’s all the same thing–especially if you were born after 1990. Sometimes details get confused when a hitchhiker who was born in 1960 talks to an old codger who was born in 1929 who later spent time in prison who thinks that the hitchhiker is 46 when in fact the hitchhiker is 52 . . . . .I think I’ll stop here before I paint myself into a corner.

The old guy then proceeded to tell me how I could steal gas out of other people’s cars with this device that you plug into your dashboard cigarette lighter–which didn’t make a whole lot of sense because I didn’t have a dashboard cigarette lighter and I didn’t have a car and I didn’t need gas. Some people don’t make a whole lot of sense. He was an old ex con who probably drank too much beer, stole too much gas and spent too much time in the pen. He dropped me off in Seneca and I hit the road.

I walked a couple of miles and got a ride to Burns with a guy who was born in Massena, Iowa. I told him that I was born and raised in Iowa. He went to school at Iowa State and worked for the U.S. Forest Service. I told him that my grandmother was born and raised in Massena.

I got dropped off at this truck stop on the west side of Burns (Hines). I hit the road and got a ride to Riley with a couple of guys going to Bend.

From Riley, I walked a couple of miles south on U.S. 395 and then the sun went down over the western horizon. I laid out my sleeping bag in the sagebrush near this fence line on the east side of the road and went to sleep.

Sometime after midnight, I woke up and the night sky was overcast. It started to sprinkle a very light rain. I packed up my things and walked back to Riley. I walked to this horse shed next to the gas station and laid out my sleeping bag in the shed and slept there the rest of the night. It began to rain much harder and I was grateful to be out of the weather for the night.

At sun up, the rain had stopped and I walked to the gas station and got something to eat. I walked back to the intersection and got two rides to Lakeview on U.S. 395. From Lakeview, I got two rides to Highway 299. From Highway 299, I got two rides over Cedar Pass to Cedarville.

3  Locusts and Wild Honey

Mark 1: 6: “And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey.”

John the Baptist’s life was/is a powerful sermon. His life was separate from the world. There is a reason why he was clothed in camel’s hair and ate locusts and wild honey.

The Temple in Jerusalem was corrupted by the Pharisees. They were into the letter of the law and not into the Spirit of God. The Pharisees were into self-righteousness and not into God-righteousness. They were a brood of vipers that dragged people into hell with them. They loved power and wealth and were conformed to the world. The Pharisees loved to wear long robes and to be treated like royalty. They probably lived in fine houses and probably had servants at their disposal. But the Pharisees were white-washed walls and dead men’s bones. They had an external show of religion, but had no internal or spiritual life.

John the Baptist had very few possessions—and by the looks of things—did not eat very well, but he was full of the Holy Ghost. He was the first one to say, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” When other people first saw Jesus, they would say, “He is a good teacher” or “He gives us loaves and fishes” or “He is a man of miracles and heals the sick and the lame.” These were all true—Jesus did do these things—but they were secondary to the
true purpose of Jesus: to die on the Cross for the sin of the world. It is the shed Blood of Jesus that cleanses us from sin.

Because John the Baptist was separate from the world, and did not indulge in a fake religious lifestyle, he could see clearly (sin causes spiritual blindness) what the Lord’s will was for Jesus’ life. His eating of locusts and wild honey was a powerful testimony against the satanic phariseeism of the day.

I would rather eat locusts and wild honey, camp out on the other side of the Jordan River and live in the Presence of God, than eat well, live fashionably and rub shoulders with the Pharisees. I believe that Jesus had an idea of who He was and what He was supposed to do before he met John the Baptist, but when He finally met John at the Jordan River, it was confirmation when he heard John’s words. Now Jesus knew for a fact that he would eventually die on the Cross because He was the Lamb of God (the sacrificial offering from God for the world).
“In the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established.”

John the Baptist lived on the other side of the Jordan River. Elijah the Tishbite came from the other side of the Jordan River. My life of hitchhiking is on the other side of the Jordan River. Christian Pharisees have infected too many churches. These churches are spiritually dead and are conformed to the world. “They had a form of godliness, but denied the power thereof: from such turn away.”

At least I have never had to eat locusts and wild honey.

4  As a Thief in the Night

Revelation 16: 15: “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”

Behold I come as a thief; I come as a thief in the night. God’s judgment on sinners: unrepentant sinners. If we choose life (abide in the Tree of Life), we will not walk naked. If we choose death (the Knowledge of Good and Evil), we will walk naked and the wrath of God rests upon us.

If I am in sin, I am cut off from God. So when God visits me, He seems like a stranger to me, like a thief to me. What friend would steal from a friend? It is more likely that a man would steal from a stranger. If God is strange to me, He can only come as a thief, because I don’t know when He is coming. If I abide in Christ, I am not estranged from Him: He is with me right here, right now: He is no stranger. He is no thief–He is my Friend. My sheep hear my voice and they follow me.

Abraham was intimate with God; Abraham was a friend of God. The Lord told Abraham of the coming destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and Abraham’s intercession saved Lot, who was righteous, but was not intimate with God. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah did not know of the coming destruction because they rejected God, they were cut off from God and His intimate communion or conversation. When the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah came, the Lord came as a thief in the night. A thief is a stranger. The Lord was a stranger to Sodom and Gomorrah because they were naked with sin (shame).

I come as a thief in the night. Night is the power of sin. At the height (or depth) of sin is the darkest time of night–and this is when God’s judgment comes. “I come as a thief in the night” is another phrase for God’s judgment on sin.

Revelation Chapter 16 speaks much of God’s judgment. Revelation 16: 1: ” . . . and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.” Revelation 16: 8: ” . . . and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.” Revelation 16: 10: “And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain.” Revelation 16: 19: ” . . . and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.”

I come as a thief in the night.

5  Author Pens Tales Reminiscing from the Road

By Ryan Bonham

Eat your heart out, Jack Kerouac.

Self-professed hitchhiker Tim Shey, whose traveling path often passes through Lake County, published his second book earlier this year, a work filled with tales reflecting his experiences in hitchhiking across the country over the past 16 years.

Shey, who often works as a laborer for friends living in the Cedarville/Surprise Valley area of northeastern California, said his travels have taken him far and wide through the years. His first trip to Lakeview occurred in 2004 while hitchhiking from Cedarville, Calif., to Washington state.

His newest book is entitled The First Time I Rode a Freight Train & other hitchhiking stories, and features stories inspired by his many years traveling a solo journey in and around the United States, in which he proselytized his Christian faith.

Born and raised in Iowa, Shey graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in English literature in 1995. He published some of his short stories on the online blog Ditchhitchhike.com, as well as the Ethos (italics), a publication of the University of Iowa’s journalism department.

After finishing college, Shey worked full time in lumber yard until 1996, when he considered, applied for and did not get accepted into law school. The allure of the open road came about that year, Shey said.

“I’d say I’ve been hitchhiking 80 percent of the last 16 years,” he said. “I’m a Christian, and I’m hitchhiking by faith.”

Shey said that he’s putting each and every day’s provisions into his faith in God, and writes about his experiences and encounters from this travels.

He published his first collection of reflections from the road, High Plains Drifter: A Hitchhiking Journey Across America, in 2008, which traced his travels from earlier journeys of 1986-87 as well as those spanning 1996-99.

“You see a lot of nice country, but mostly it’s the people you meet (that leaves an impression),” Shey said.

Shey acknowledged the social stigma associated with hitchhiking, particularly in the United States, but he said he mostly faced occasional warnings by Johnny Law and recalled mostly positive interactions; sometimes they even helped him get to his next destination, he said.

“If you’re not causing any trouble, they’ll cut you some slack,” he said.

Shey said that the first book was put together within 10 days, but his newest effort is the culmination of two years of work.

6  The Man Christ Jesus

Genesis 32: 28: “And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”

I Timothy 2: 5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

When the Lord changed Jacob’s name to Israel, I always thought of it as a foreshadowing of the born-again experience. But as I look at the two preceding scriptures, we can see that Jacob/Israel foreshadows or symbolizes Jesus. All scripture points towards Jesus. Israel is Jesus. Jacob wrestled with God and became a mediator between God and men. His immediate son, Joseph, helped save the world from famine when Pharaoh raised Joseph up into a position of power. Jacob’s distant son, Jesus, saved the world from sin (if we believe in Him).

I have always revered Abraham because he is the father of faith, but there is more written on Jacob than anybody else in the Book of Genesis. The Twelve Patriarchs came from Jacob (12 means “to rule”), so in Jacob you have a more enduring foundation for Moses, the Prophets and the New Testament. It is true that the Lord changed Abram’s name to Abraham, but when Jacob became Israel, I believe there was a deeper transformation–from death to life–or maybe a deeper meaning (you can’t pass from death to life without the Blood of Jesus). Jacob came from Padan-aram (a strange land, death) to Canaan (the Promised Land, life). Jacob had to change to Israel because now he had to live by faith in God and not faith in himself. Jacob means “deceiver”; Israel means “prince”. The Lord now wants a prince to rule Israel, not a deceiver.

Jacob’s words hold much power even to this day: look at Jacob’s Prophecy regarding his twelve sons in Genesis Chapter 49. Verses 1 and 2: “And Jacob called his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob and hearken unto Israel your father.” If we abide in Christ, we hearken unto Israel. Jacob’s Prophecy over Judah was definitely Messianic, but Jacob also gave Joseph a powerful blessing that also points towards some future ruler: “But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:).”(Genesis 49: 24).

Before Jacob could pass into Canaan (the Promised Land), he had to confront Esau. Before Jesus could proceed to accomplish his work on the Cross, die and rise from the dead, he had to confront Herod. Herod was half Edomite (Herod was a descendant of Esau). There was enmity between Jacob and Esau and there was enmity between Jesus and Herod. Jacob was a true son of Isaac and Abraham; Esau was a real heathen–he married two daughters of Heth. Jesus was truly Jewish–he fulfilled the Law and the Prophets; Herod was not truly Jewish because he was half Edomite. Jesus was a son of Jacob; Herod was a son of Esau. You can’t mix heaven with hell or heaven with the world: the love of the world is enmity with the Father. Jacob/Israel ultimately overcame and defeated Esau (the world) when Jesus died and rose from the dead. Esau is a term of derision; Israel is a term of endearment. During King David’s reign (1000 B.C.) there was a nation called Israel; in the year 2005 A.D. there is a nation called Israel.

Jacob came, Jacob saw, Jacob wrestled, Jacob conquered. Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever. Jacob still endures and Genesis Chapter 49 is just as alive today as it was when it was first uttered from Jacob’s mouth: “Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob and hearken unto Israel your father.”

7  New Testament Circumcision

Genesis 17: 10-11: “This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.” (Old Testament Circumcision)

Acts 7: 51: “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”

Romans 2: 28-29: “For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”

Philippians 3: 3: “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”

Hebrews 4: 12: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Revelation 2: 24: “But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.”

(The physical in the Old Testament is a foreshadowing of the spiritual in the New Testament)

Delivering someone from demons or casting out demons is New Testament Circumcision. I have gone through at least six deliverance sessions where demons were cast out of my body. Within a week or so, my body (or parts of my body) became very sore. This soreness may last from twenty-four hours up to three weeks, in my experience. When you obey the Lord, demons sometimes will come out of your body. The Lord may glorify (rapture) your body and then demons may come out of your body.

Rapture is spiritual, NOT physical. There is no such thing as a bodily rapture out of this planet. Rapture is when the Lord glorifies your body–it is an intense Holy Fire or Presence of God. In my case, this glorification is so intense it feels like my eyeballs are going to burn out of their sockets; it is almost painful.

Demons can dwell in your body and in your soul (i.e., soul ties and generational curses). I do not believe that a demon can inhabit the spirit of a Christian. The spirit is the Holy of Holies of a Christian. The soul and the body are the inner court and outer court of the Christian, respectively. A Christian can be demonized, but NOT possessed by a demon.

The more the Christian dies to self, the more the Christian becomes purified. Demons hate selfless Christians. Demons do not want to dwell in the body of a Christian who obeys the Lord.

8  Baal-perazim

II Samuel 5: 17-25: “But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim. And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them. And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines. And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.”

“But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.”

When Satan learns of someone who is devoted to Christ, he will attack that Christian: either spiritually (a demon may attack you in your sleep), intellectually (an unbeliever or a false Christian may argue with you about your Christian beliefs) or physically (Satan may bring sickness or death to you or your loved ones).

What was David’s reaction on hearing that the Philistines had invaded Israel? He immediately enquired of the Lord.

When we are attacked by the devil, we must not seek consolation or advice from flesh and blood. We must go to the Lord and ask Him what we must do. You can pray with words or enter into the Presence of God (when the Lord glorifies your body, this can defeat a tactic or strategy of the devil; “the anointing breaks the yoke of sin.”) or pray in tongues. When trouble comes: seek God, not man.

After David sought the Lord, David went out and defeated the Philistines in battle. If you abide in Christ, the Lord will give you the strength and wisdom to defeat the devil. “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper.”

“For then shall the Lord go out before thee.”

Whenever we are attacked by the devil, we should think of it as an opportunity for the Lord to humiliate and defeat the devil in our life. It is an opportunity for the Lord to be glorified in our bodies. Whatever won’t kill us, will only make us stronger. We need to let the Lord use our lives so that the Spirit of God can flow through us and defeat some aspect of Satan’s kingdom.

As a living sacrifice, we need to do what the Lord wants us to do and NOT what we want to do. Self-will kills the power of the Holy Ghost in our lives. Self-will does not glorify God.

9  Overcome With Great Sorrow

Last night I had a dream where I was at a church meeting. The church meeting had only children present—it looked like the children were all under 12 years old. There was this little boy who was dying of cancer, so a number of us gathered around him to pray for him. This little boy’s name was Yeshua. I knew in my spirit that I had faith for this little boy to be healed, but I wondered if these children had faith enough for that little boy to be healed. There was a close-up of the boy’s face in the dream. Then it was time for me to leave the meeting.

I grabbed my backpack and started walking away, but this little kid walked up to me and gave me my folder that holds some of my papers, my notebook and an atlas of the United States. I guess I had forgotten to take the folder with me.

As I walked down the street, I stopped at this house to talk with this well-known actor (he was on the sitcom Friends). We talked about my Christian faith for a while. At times, it seemed like he was interested in what I was saying and, at other times, he was mocking me.

When I walked away from that actor’s house, I was overcome with great sorrow for the little boy that was dying of cancer. The sorrow was very profound, very deep; it overwhelmed my whole being. I have never experienced sorrow like that before. I wanted to weep, but no tears came out of my eyes. Then I woke up.

The little boy in the dream, named Yeshua, represents the American Christian Church (or churchianity) of today: immature, shallow, made for children. The American Christian Church is dying of cancer: it is losing its life, its salt, its ability to preserve the United States.

When the little kid walked up to me and gave me my folder that had my papers and notebook: this means that my writings are important for reaching out to the Body of Christ—I am feeding the sheep through my two blogs and my two books. This is significant because every once in a while I will ask the Lord if I can stop writing in my blogs; sometimes I think it doesn’t seem to do much good—especially when we have idiots in the United States who follow people like John Piper, Rick Warren and Joel Osteen. (The Lord told me to start my two blogs and He also told me to write my two books.)

At the end of the dream, when I was overcome with sorrow: I wanted to weep, but no tears came out of my eyes. The United States is in a severe drought this summer because of sin (abortion, homosexuality, earth worship, etc). It is so dry from sin, I don’t have enough water in my eyes to weep for this country. Maybe the Lord is telling me not to waste my tears over the wicked that have ruined this country.

10  Enmity: True Christians versus False Christians

II Samuel 6: 16: “And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.”

II Samuel 6: 20-23: “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.”

The problem with Michal is that she was conformed to the world. “The love of the world is enmity with the Father.” David was anointed with the Holy Ghost–he was sensitive to the leadings of the Holy Ghost.
“Those who are led by the Spirit shall be called sons.”

Because Michal loved the world, she was spiritually dead. Because she was spiritually dead, she despised David who was a man of God. And because she despised David, she was spiritually and physically barren (she was not able to bear any children).

So many “Christians” belong to the Church of Michal–or the Church of King Saul. So few Christians belong to the Church of David (David was a man after God’s own heart).

If you are truly submitted to Christ, you will be rejected and despised by worldly Christians.

Genesis 3: 14-15: “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

11  Samson: A One-Man Wrecking Crew

Judges 13: 3-5: “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazirite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

Judges 13: 25: “And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.”

Judges 14: 4: “But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.” Here is the Sovereignty of God. In God’s economy, He uses EVERYBODY to effect His will in the earth–believers and unbelievers. Believers should know this, but unbelievers don’t have a clue. The Lord uses us even when we think our lives have no impact on others. God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Judges 14: 5-6: “Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.”

Judges 14: 19: “And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house."

Judges 15: 14-17: “And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith. And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men. And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi.”

Physical warfare in the Old Testament is a foreshadowing of spiritual warfare in the New Testament.

When the Holy Ghost fell on Samson, he had the power to physically subdue the enemies of Israel. When the Holy Ghost falls on a Blood-washed believer in Jesus Christ, he has the power to confuse and remove satanic strongholds (e.g. principalities and powers of darkness) in heaven and earth (Hebrews 12: 26: “Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.”). He also has the power to deliver himself and others from demonic bondage.

Wherever the Lord positions you in the earth, that is where His Spirit will flow through you, so that He can use you like the jawbone of an ass to defeat satanic strongholds. In the Old Testament, the jawbone of an ass was an object; in the New Testament, the jawbone of an ass is a subject. If you abide in Christ, you are the subject, you are “the jawbone of an ass” that the Lord uses to subdue His enemies in heaven and earth.

All of this Holy Ghost Warfare (intercession) is predicated on obedience to the Lord.

12  The Hidden Streets of Babylon

By Tim Shey

Adulterated
With selfwork
Intoxicated
By traditions of men
Stumble down the hidden streets of Babylon
You are a puppet on a hellish string

Many words are spoken
Sterile speech into vacant air
This is how the heathen pray
The Lord wants your heart
No faith, no life, no Jesus
I am surrounded by white-washed walls

Summa Theologica is for aesthetes
Solus ecclesia echoes nothing
Most Latin is Greek to me

Rituals and liturgy
Feed the pride
Of the unsaved seminarian

The Council of Whitby
Ushered in the Dark Ages
We have strayed
From the Word of God
And His inspired Scriptures

Idolatry is a habit
Worn by blind people
Watch them
Groping, crawling
In a dark, overchurched ditch

Living by sight
And the wisdom of this world
Is fashionable and insane
Its compass points the maddening crowd
To nowhere
It paves a smooth, broad path
To perdition

13  Guided by the Thumb

By Bridget Ryder

“If you don’t have patience, don’t hitchhike,” Tim Shey said.

He’s speaking from his experience of using the mode of travel for sixteen years and his ventures have brought him through Teton Valley on more than one occasion. He’s slept in junk cars in Victor and grassy spots in Driggs, sheet rocked a house in Tetonia, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

His roaming follows inspiration, providence, and the compass of circumstance.

“I just knew God inspired me to hit the road,” he explained.

He felt the nudge in 1996 but he never thought he would still be standing with his thumb out on the highway 16 years and two books later. Shey, a native of Iowa, started hitchhiking in Ireland and parts of the United Kingdom in the early 1980s. In 1995, he finished his degree in English at the Iowa State University and then hitched his way through the Western US. In between, he worked in the lumber and construction businesses and then hit the rode for a solid nine months in 1999. During that hitching stint, a lady at a gas station in Texas asked him when she would get to read his book. She wasn’t the first to ask. When he returned to Iowa, he wrote 200 pages in ten days.

“I just wanted to get it done,” he said.

Over the years and between his travels, Shey touched up the manuscript and it appeared online and in CD form until Publish America put out the bound pages of High Plains Drifter. He stopped wondering why he got a degree in English.

“I guess all those English papers were good practice,” he said.

But the heart of his story is his Christian faith. As he travels, he both shares what he believes and lives it.

“It’s an act of faith, you can’t plan it like this,” he said.

The connections, reconnections, and happenstances he experiences lay beyond his control. A ride can lead to a conversation, a job or a friend, places he has returned to work or visit such as a cow-calf operation in California or the home of friends in Teton Valley.

He formed a strong connection with Jeremy Aughenbaugh of Jackson, Wyo in 2003 when one of Aughenbaugh’s roommates gave Shey a ride from Dubois, Wyo. They then invited the hitchhiker to stay with them for a few days. The two bonded through their common Christian faith and Shey has consistently returned to visit his friend since.

“He definitely wasn’t what I expected a hitchhiker to look like,” Aughenbaugh said. ”[He’s] clean cut, he seemed like he was on a mission.”

Aughenbaugh doesn’t put Shey in the category of a wander beaten down by life trying to figure out where to go. He has a purpose.

“His life is a sermon,” Aughenbaugh said.

Shey predicates, according to Aughenbaugh by getting into chance conversations in his travels and letting people “on the perfect timing” that he attributes to the action of God. Take Saturday for instance. Shey had been trying to head south out, but met with little luck, a calm inner movement told him to try the other way. He quickly caught a north-bound ride and found himself where help was needed—helping Aughenbaugh build a Habitat for Humanity house.

“If I run into a brick wall, I say I’m going in another direction,” Shey said. “I hitchhike by faith. God protects me.”

In all his years of accepting the help of strangers and doing what popular opinion considers a good way to get killed, he has only felt endangered once.

On his way through New Mexico, Shey picked up a ride from two men. The trip ended at the trailer park where they lived. Outside the car, Shey continued his conversation with the driver, Apache. While they talked, Shey could see the other man flanking him. Then he pulled out a knife and lunged toward the hitchhiker. Shey jumped back.

“What are you guys trying to do rob me?” he said.

Apache called his friend an idiot and told him to put the knife away.

“That was the only time somebody pulled a knife on me and it was not that big of a deal,” Shey said.

Apache sent Shey on his way with a fist full of cash and even his blundering attacker gave him a dollar as he left.

On the other hand, he has also been offered a ride with the stipulation “sir, if you don’t kill me.”

“I think I‘m on the road to redeem the image of the hitchhiker,” he said.

According to Shey it’s five times more likely for the hitchhiker to be killed than for someone bumming a ride to be the murder.

He admits to getting tired of hitchhiking, but for feels that for now it’s his calling.

And if you’re driving, don’t miss the opportunity to give Shey a ride. He might write you into his next book.

The Victor library carries Shey’s first collection of recollections as well as his more recently published volume of tales, The First Time I Rode a Freight Train and Other Hitchhiking Stories. Follow Shey on his blog http://tim-shey.blogspot.com/ or read his whole story at the Victor library.

14  Zion is My Home

Psalm 50: 2-3: “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.”

Zion is the Presence of God. Zion is our home; Zion is where the Lord wants His saints. It is not: well, I’m saved, and when I die, then I’ll go to heaven. We are called to bring heaven to earth: to bring Zion (the Presence of God) to earth to tame it and civilize it. What demon can stand in the Presence of God? The Holy Ghost Fire burns up the wood, hay and stubble of Satan.

Out of the Presence of God, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. The world defines beauty probably as physical, fleshly perfection; the Lord defines beauty and perfection as abiding in the Presence of God. When we abide in the Presence of God, this is where God shines through us. In the Presence of God, our life becomes effortless: when we obey the Lord, the world can see the Lord working through us. They see God, not us. It is a God-work, not a man-work. My Father works and I work. God working and breathing through us because we are abiding in Zion. A son of Zion. When you see me you see the Father.

“Our God shall come and not keep silence.” The Lord doesn’t have to use words to speak: it is His Presence that speaks, and if we abide in His Presence, He will speak volumes through our lives. People will say: I perceive that thou hast been with Jesus, when they see your life.

“A fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.” What will the fire devour? The flesh, the world and the devil: these three cannot stand before the Presence of God and live: they will fight to the death to preserve their lives, especially in unbelievers and lukewarm Christians. “It shall be very tempestuous round about him.” Satan does not lamely lie down when he
sees the Holy Ghost believers come his way: he will fight against you with every weapon that he’s got. Satan will lie, tempt, assassinate your character; he will try to kill you. Our greatest weapon: a sword with two sharp edges: the Holy Ghost and the Word of God. When we abide in Zion, no weapon from hell can touch us. When we abide in Zion, the Lord will shine through our lives and conquer sin because we are the perfection of beauty, the apple of His eye.

Zion is my home.

15  A Dream about General George S. Patton

This afternoon the Lord gave me a dream while I was taking a nap at Jeremy and Felice’s place. I was sleeping on the floor in Jeremy’s office. In the dream, I was with somebody who was building houses on a big job site. Then somebody arrived on the scene: he was pushing a small cart. In the cart were two dead bodies—they had been slain in battle. I walked up to the cart and looked down to see the dead bodies. One of the bodies had been decapitated. All of a sudden, this intense white light emanated from the head that had been decapitated—the head became reattached to the trunk of the body. Light was coming out of his face—it was General George S. Patton. I began to weep tears of absolute joy. The light was very intense. It seemed like General Patton (as he was being raised from the dead) was imparting something to me—something was being engrafted into my spirit. Then the dream ended.

16  Outside the Camp

Hebrews 13: 11-13: “For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.”

“Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.”

If a man is truly led by the Holy Ghost—a life of obedience to the Holy Ghost—then his life will be lived outside the camp—outside the box—bearing His reproach. Too many Christians put God in a box—which is idolatry. I like to tell people that I am like John the Baptist—I am living on the other side of the Jordan River. John the Baptist’s living on the other side of the Jordan River was a powerful testimony against the Phariseeism that had infected the temple in Jerusalem. Phariseeism has also infected many Christian churches; I am sure that this has been a problem since the first century.

Phariseeism is a way to control people through the traditions of men. It rejects the leadings and spontaneity of the Holy Ghost. Phariseeism is a man-made religion that has a form, but no power and no life. Jesus said that He came to bring life and life in abundance. A lot of the time, the abundant life is lived outside the camp.

This is part of the reason that the Lord has had me hitchhike. Even if I did not have the ability to speak, my life would be a powerful sermon that glorifies God. Simply put: I am living for God and not for man; I am doing the will of my Father and not the will of myself. My Father works and I work. My food is to do the will of my Father who sent me. My Father’s will is for me to live outside the confines and constraints of the box—the traditions of men and any other satanic construct.

If we follow Christ, we die daily. Our plans are in submission to His plans. Take up your cross and follow Me. Many times I have thought that all this hitchhiking is foolishness—it is definitely foolishness to the world. But the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of the world. There was a book written about Francis of Assisi called God’s Fool. It is very good. Francis lived the life of a beggar, but his life was a powerful sermon that still influences Christians today. I believe it was Francis who once said, “Preach the Gospel and sometimes use words.” I would rather walk the walk than talk the talk.

Walk the walk outside the camp.

17  Broken Bread and Poured-out Wine

Broken bread and poured-out wine. I first heard of this phrase while reading Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest. The Lord cannot work through prideful, self-willed Christians. We must be broken of self-will. Before a man can eat a loaf of bread, he must break it (or slice it) first–especially if he is going to feed others. A broken and contrite heart, Oh, Lord, thou shalt not despise. The Holy Ghost flows much more freely through a broken vessel than a vessel that is all blocked-up because of self-will.

Poured-out wine. If the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for us, then we must sacrifice our lives for others. Wine was never meant to stay in the cup. Take this and drink. Partake of My Blood. Partake of His Life. The life is in the blood. Leviticus 17: 11: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life.” Luke 22: 20: “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”

When we obey the Lord, self-will can only die. It doesn’t die overnight–it is gradual, it takes time. Reno, Nevada wasn’t built in one day. We are conceived in sin, and before we are born-again, we are raised in the world system (The Matrix) and by the world system to be conformed to the world system. It is a type of brainwashing. When we decide to follow Christ, we must continue to abide in Him to fight against the desire to be what we once were–conformed to this world and dead in our trespasses and sins. If a Christian has been saved for a number of years and is still conformed to this world, then I have a real problem with his salvation. If Jesus was whipped to shreds and then hung out to dry and bleed to death on the cross, then why should we treat His blood and His grace so cheaply? Hebrews 10: 26-29: “For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries. A
man who has violated the Law of Moses dies without mercy at the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God, and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace?”

Life is precious; blood is precious. The life is in the blood. Jesus is precious; His blood is absolutely precious. We should be about our Father’s business or go home and go back to bed. We must be about our Father’s business and quit chasing our selfish desires and then calling it Christianity. We who are born-again are vessels created for our Father’s service. When we obey Him, our lives are poured-out wine for others who are thirsting for something eternal and substantial.

John 15: 1-2: “‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch of mine that bears no fruit, he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.'”

John 15: 4-8: “‘Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples.'”

“‘Every branch of mine that bears no fruit, he takes away.'” “‘If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned.'” Sounds like that branch lost his salvation. What are we to think of a Christian who bears dead fruit, who is conformed to the world and resists the Holy Ghost? “For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment.”

“Abide in me”: this could also mean, “obey me” or “remain under my covering”. Having knowledge in your head about the Gospel doesn’t cut it. Jesus didn’t die on the Cross so that we could become worthless aesthetes or hair-splitting theologians. He doesn’t want us to treat Him like an object of idolatry or an object of man-made religion. The Lord wants us to abide in Him, the True Vine, so that His Holy Sap will flow into us and sustain us, so we can grow stronger and bear much fruit. We do not abide in Him in thought (through dead reason); we abide in Him in revelation through faith.

Faith is what moves mountains in the spiritual realm; faith is what keeps the sap flowing from the True Vine into the branches. When we act in faith, our lives are blessed and the Lord gives us fresh revelation. Do you want to live on the shores of the Dead Sea or do you want to live by a fresh, fast-moving, clear mountain stream? Abide in Christ everyday in faith, obey what He reveals to you and see how refreshed you are and how refreshing your life is to others.

Reason by itself is idolatry; reason inspired by the Holy Ghost can only be beautiful. What good is an IQ of 200 if you are not born-again? What good are multiple college degrees and you reject Christ? What good is a forest of trees without rain or a field of wheat without irrigation? It will all wither and become chaff for the fire. I have heard more wisdom come out of the mouths of children who abide in Christ than from university professors who abide in nothing.

“Abiding in” separates the men from the boys. “Abiding in” separates the living from the dead. There is living, “abiding in” fruit and there is fruit that lies on the ground, rotten and stinking. Did Jesus die on the Cross so that we could become a stench that rises up to Heaven or did He die so that we could die to self and be a sweet-smelling savour of life unto life. Our lives should be a sweet-smelling sacrifice unto the Lord.

Genesis 4: 4: “and Abel brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering.” Abel’s offering points towards the First-born-among-many: the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.

“And the Lord had regard for Abel.”

“This is my Son in whom I am well pleased.”

“Draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh to you.”

“A savour of life unto life.”

“Abide in me.”

18  A Pleasant Memory

Even though I really don’t care to hitchhike, hitchhiking has been God’s will for my life the past 16 years. Many great things have happened on the road: conversations with the people that pick me up, the revelations that the Lord has given me, the acts of kindness by strangers. The backpack that I am using was given to me by a friend in Wyoming. Many people have bought me something to eat or have kicked me down a few bucks to help me out. The Lord really provides for you on the road.

I have hitchhiked across the Navajo Reservation in northeast Arizona a number of times. Usually, I would be heading south out of Moab, Utah on U.S. 191. Then I would connect with U.S. 160, pass through Kayenta and Tuba City and then take U.S. 89 to Flagstaff. There is a really nice Christian mission on San Francisco Street in Flagstaff–I have stayed there a few times during the winter.

One time I was walking west on U.S. 160 east of Kayenta and I looked to my right. I saw this little girl–she may have been 10 years old–and she was running towards me from her house. The house was a few hundred yards from the highway. I stopped on the shoulder and waited for her. She ran up to me and gave me a can of pop.

She smiled at me and said, “This is for you.”

I smiled and replied, “Thank you.”

She then ran back to her house.

Sometimes it is the little things in life that a man remembers most.

19  Wearing a Rough Garment

Last night I had a disturbing dream. I was wearing a rough garment—it was brown; it looked like it was a robe made out of burlap. I wore a belt around my waist. I looked like John the Baptist or else I felt like John the Baptist. Everywhere I went people became very angry at me. I would say something and then people would violently reject me. Sometimes I would walk to where people were gathering and I wouldn’t say anything—just my walking into their air space angered them.

Then there was this one guy: he was short and mean-looking. He had a whip. The whip had a wooden handle and several strips of cord attached to the top of it; on the end of each strip of cord was a nail: it looked like the cat-of-nine-tails. This guy hated my guts. Two or three times during the dream he would come after me and whip me. The dream was long; most of the details are gone from me now.

The odd thing about this dream was that when it was over, it was played over again—like a movie reel. The exact same dream was repeated twice. This reminds me of that Scripture: “In the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established.” So whatever this dream means, it is established. Or maybe it means that it will happen soon.

Genesis 41: 32: “And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.”

In my life, because of my Christian faith, I have been rejected by family, friends and church people, so this dream makes sense.

[The short, mean-looking guy in the dream looked EXACTLY like a so-called Christian that I met in Absarokee, Montana: Jack Burwell. He thinks he is saved because he studies the Bible. Jack Burwell rejects Christ.]

20  Back in California

Around the 23rd of August, I hitchhiked out of northeastern California and got a few rides past Redding, CA near Whiskeytown. I camped out there that night and then hitchhiked to Arcata. Arcata is probably the enviro-pagan capital of the United States. I saw more homeless people there in an hour than in any place I have ever been. I slept in a ditch that night near Trinidad—just north of Arcata.

The next day I hitchhiked through Crescent City to Brookings, Oregon. While I was going through Crescent City this Christian picked me up. He said something very interesting. He said that either a U.S. Senator or a state senator from California said that she would rather see one human being die than have to cut down one tree. No wonder things are so backward in parts of California. Reminds me of Romans Chapter One: when man began to worship the creation rather than the Creator, the Lord gave them over to a reprobate mind.

After sleeping on the beach north of Brookings, I hitchhiked north on U.S. 101 to Bandon. I slept under a bridge north of Bandon that night. The next day I hitchhiked to Coos Bay where I stayed at a Christian mission for the night.

It took me a couple of days to hitchhike from Bandon to Florence to Eugene through Madras to Pendleton, Oregon. In Pendleton, I slept under a bridge north of town and stayed out of the rain. It hadn’t rained in two months. I made it to Dayton, Washington where I stayed with some friends for three days. While I was there, I learned that my book High Plains Drifter was purchased by the local library. So I went to the library there in Dayton and signed their copy of my book.

After Dayton, I hitchhiked through Moscow, Idaho and later made it to Kooskia that evening. I stayed with some friends in Kooskia for a couple of days and then headed east into Montana. I went through Missoula, Belgrade and West Yellowstone and ended up in Victor, Idaho where I stayed with some friends for two nights.

The next day I hitchhiked to Jackson, Wyoming and stayed at Jeremy and Felice’s place for one night. The next week I hitchhiked to Bozeman, Montana and stayed with some friends for a night; I hitchhiked to Cody and then slept on the bleachers at a baseball field in Meeteetse, Wyoming; I stayed in Riverton at the shelter for three nights; I stayed with a friend in Dubois for one night. After staying in Victor, Idaho and Jackson, Wyoming for two nights, I headed back north.

In one day, I got from Jackson to Helena, Montana where I slept on that hill just south of the library. The next day I made it to Missoula and Lolo where these three Christians picked me up and let me camp out with them for a night; we had some really good fellowship. The next day I made it to Kooskia, Idaho.

After Kooskia, I hitchhiked through Lewiston and then through Walla Walla, Washington and Pendleton, Oregon. I slept outside a few miles west of Pilot Rock, Oregon. The next day I got a ride from Pilot Rock through John Day to Burns, Oregon. I got to Riley and walked south a couple of miles and then got a ride with a couple of Christians to Lakeview where they let me stay at the driver’s sister’s camper.

The next morning, I got a ride to New Pine Creek, California. I walked a few miles south and got a ride with a guy named Jesse. We drove to Alturas where he had to run a couple of errands. He then drove me to where John and Susie live and bought a copy of my book, High Plains Drifter. It is good to be back in this part of California.

21  Two Dreams: A Christian Cult and a Jezebel Spirit

Last night I had two dreams. In the first dream, I was with this man, woman and child and we were in this church group—it was really a Christian cult. I warned the man and his wife about this cult. We left that group of people and went to this church building. The people were all dressed up for a Sunday service. But something was wrong. The man and wife and child and I walked through the church and out the back. There were people waiting for us in the back yard of the church. These people surrounded the man, woman and child. I walked back into the church and the people were acting very strange.

I walked back outside in the yard behind the church. The group of people had turned into a mob. They had tied up the man, woman and child in ropes and had lifted them up and were carrying them to this altar to kill them.

It was then that I yelled, “Come out of them, Satan, in the Name of Jesus of Nazareth!”

The people scattered and the man, woman, child and I escaped that church.

In the second dream, I was in this city. It looked like the downtown area. There was this big building and there was this crowd of people guarding the building. I walked up to these two guys and they were trying to attack the crowd of people at the building; the two guys were across the street from the building.

Then this big guy from the crowd of people attacked our position with a machine gun. We hunkered down behind this gravel pile. I then grabbed some rocks and began throwing them at the big guy with the machine gun. He was firing the machine gun, but the bullets bounced off of my body. I kept throwing the rocks at him until he started crying and ran back to the crowd of people near the building.

I then ran towards the crowd of people and yelled, “In the Name of Jesus, begone, Satan!”

The crowd began to split off in two directions (it reminded me of the parting of the Red Sea in the Old Testament). Then I came face to face with this woman who was the leader of this group of people. I then spoke directly at her very forcefully, “Come out of her, Jezebel spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ!” Then the dream ended.

22  A Pie in the Face and a Riot in a Church

Last night I had a dream where I was sitting in a church. This church was packed with people; it looked like someone’s funeral; the men wore suits and the women wore nice dresses. During the funeral service, this man stood up in his pew and was going to give a small speech about the man who recently died. The man who died obviously was well-known in the community—maybe a prominent businessman. The man who stood up to give his speech barely started speaking when I turned and saw this woman take a crème pie and throw it at him—the pie hit him in the face. The amazing thing is that the woman was twenty or thirty feet away. She really hit the target.

There was a great uproar in the church after this happened. The woman who threw the pie was dressed very proper. She seemed very civilized except that she threw a pie in a man’s face in a church. It seemed so out of place that she would do such a thing. After she threw the pie, she began to cry. She said something like, “I didn’t want to throw the pie! I don’t know why I did it! It’s like someone made me throw the pie!”

I walked over to this woman and told her, “You were supposed to throw that pie in his face because he is a false Christian.” The place turned into a riot—I think there were people having fistfights. I believe another reason she threw the pie was because the man who died was a false Christian. The man who was trying to give the speech was a friend of the deceased; he was going to lie about a man who lived a lie.

I walked away from the church with my friends. We walked into this building and talked with this man. I told him about the riot in the church. Then he said, “Let us pray.” We all bowed our heads to pray, but nobody said anything. Then the dream ended.

23  When I Came to Destroy the City

Ezekiel 43: 3: “And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.”

“When I came to destroy the city.”

I have read the Book of Ezekiel many times over the years, but it wasn’t until a couple of days ago that I noticed this Scripture in Ezekiel 43: 3: “When I came to destroy the city.” This is very intriguing to me. Why haven’t I noticed this before? I know that the Lord is in the details of our lives, so why did I first notice this a couple of days ago? Is the Lord trying to show me something?

If this Scripture in Ezekiel 43 had said, “The Lord told me that HE would destroy the city”, then I would say, Amen—so be it—it makes perfect sense to me as a Christian. But to say “when I came to destroy the city” is a horse of a different color.

I know that if a prophet is truly submitted to the Lord, the Lord can use his eyes, ears, mouth, body, life, circumstances and anything else to get his attention or the attention of the people that he is trying to communicate to. Example: the Lord had Isaiah walk naked throughout Egypt for three years; Isaiah’s life was a warning to Egypt (to be naked means that you are living in sin).

The Lord has had me hitchhike throughout the United States for most of fourteen years now. I have talked to a lot of people about my Christian faith, but intercession is my main work. I do believe that the deeper message is my life of obedience to the Lord: I am hitchhiking because the Lord told me to, NOT because I want to. “Not my will, but Thine be done.” So my hitchhiking IS the sermon. If I was not able to speak about Jesus, I would still be preaching the Kingdom because I am obeying the Lord.

About ten years ago, I was walking in this grove of trees back in Iowa and the Holy Spirit came upon me very powerfully and all of a sudden these words came out of my mouth: “I hate this place [that piece of property]. This place is built on sin.” The property that I was walking on was owned by a man who was very anti-Christian. Later that night, the Lord had me rebuke him for his sinful lifestyle. It was all done in the power of the Holy Ghost. After I was done rebuking him, there was perfect peace in my spirit; the burden in my spirit was lifted and I was free to leave.

The last time I hitchhiked through Las Vegas, I told the Lord that I hated that place and I asked Him not to have me hitchhike through Las Vegas again. That was in December of 2005. I haven’t seen Las Vegas since.

“When I came to destroy the city.”

Numbers 12: 6: “And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.”

24  Two Emails (Intercession)

I recently sent two emails to a Christian lady that I know. In these emails, I tried to explain to her my work of intercessory prayer. There are different levels of intercession just like there are different levels of Christian maturity or spirituality.

When Samson took the jawbone of an ass and killed one thousand Philistines, this was a physical foreshadowing of the spiritual warfare that intercessors do in the New Testament—those who are surrendered to Christ. I love the word “surrender”; Watchman Nee once wrote that the word “surrender” is a better and more powerful word than “submit”. I would like to think that if a Christian is truly surrendered to Christ, that he is truly dissolved into Christ.

_____

19 January 2011

I just read your comment and you asked about intercession. It is probably providential that you asked because, earlier today, I was talking with a Christian lady and I tried to explain to her my intercessory work.

There are different levels of intercession. You can pray in English and ask the Lord for wisdom or strength. You can pray in tongues. Back in 1992 the Lord told me not to pray in English; He told me to obey Him and let the Holy Ghost/Presence of God flow through me and satanic strongholds would be taken out [the phrase “and satanic strongholds would be taken out” was an understanding that came later in my life].
Most people don’t know what I mean by intercession (or my work of intercession). It is a lifestyle of obedience to the Lord. Since I am obeying Him (taking up my cross and following Him—dying to self), He will glorify my body and this is what destroys satanic strongholds. You can also call it rapture.

There is no such thing as a bodily or physical rapture. Rapture is spiritual—you are rapt up into the Presence of God. It can be very powerful. One time I was burning up in the Holy Ghost (glorification/rapture)—and when this happens, it feels like your eyes are going to burn right out of their sockets, it is so intense. Sometimes it is hard to see. Sometimes people see the light coming out of your eyes and it scares the tar out of them. Anyway, one time I was burning up in the Holy Ghost and the next day Saddam Hussein was captured. This other time I was burning up in the Holy Ghost and Al Zaquari [spelling incorrect; it should be Abu Musab al-Zarqawi] was killed the next day.

The Lord uses my intercession to destroy satanic (Muslim or anything satanic) strongholds–-it is very strategic and it is very hard for me to explain it to people.

There is a post on my blog called “Intercession”. You may want to read it sometime.

Right now I am in Dubois, Wyoming; I should be heading to Jackson tomorrow.

Sincerely, Tim

_____

You don’t have to pray in tongues to be in tune with the Holy Ghost. You definitely are sensitive to the Holy Ghost because it is all over your blog. I have met tongue talkers who were spiritually dead.
My intercession is not using words—English or tongues. The Lord glorifies my body and this is what removes the satanic stronghold. I do pray in English or tongues once in a while, but that is a different kind of intercession.

About Saddam Hussein: No, I did not consciously pray for his capture. The Presence of God was very strong on me for a day or two before his capture and I know that the two were linked. In my intercession, I do not consciously pray or think of anything: it is the power of God flowing through me because I have willingly laid my life down (died to self) and let the Lord run my life. Too many Christians do their own thing and call it the will of God and they wonder why the Lord doesn’t do anything powerful in their lives.

Yes, I am still hitchhiking. I might be in one place for one to three nights and then I hit the road. I am always going, always walking and hitchhiking. I would rather not, but this is God’s will for my life. Mount Moriah revisited.

Sincerely, Tim

25  A Fast-Moving Battlefield

I John 1: 6: “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and we do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.’

“ . . . but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light.”

Abiding in Christ. Obedience. Walking in the light. Light is revelation. When we live a life of obedience, the Lord is always giving us fresh revelation from the Word of God, the Holy Ghost, dreams, visions, having fellowship with like-minded brothers and sisters. The Lord has us on a fast-moving battlefield: things can change very quickly. We must be submitted to the Holy Ghost so that we can adjust and counter any move that Satan makes.

I don’t believe the Lord wants us to react to Satan, but to act when the Lord tells us to act. We must be proactive and not reactive. To be reactionary sounds like we are on the defensive. We are not on the defensive; we are on the offensive. We are continually moving forward: after we are done defeating one satanic stronghold, we go on to the next. We are continually engaging the enemy and defeating his tactics and strategies wherever the Lord puts us. There is no stagnation or stasis in the Body of Christ: we engage, defeat; engage, defeat.

General George Patton: “We are advancing constantly and are not interested in holding anything, except the enemy. We’re going to hold onto him and kick the hell out of him all the time.”

If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we will only defeat the enemy and kick the hell out of him all the time.

26  He Beheld the City and Wept Over It

Luke 19: 41-44: “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it. Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side. And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”

“He beheld the city and wept over it.”

There have been times in my life when I have wept in the Holy Ghost (as opposed to weeping in the flesh or weeping with fleshly emotion). Usually, when I have wept in the Holy Ghost, it is because someone or a group of people have rejected Christ within me. Either they rejected the words that came out of my mouth or they rejected my life of obedience to the Lord.

Sometimes I think that this weeping is a warning to people in sin or a premonition of God’s wrath to come. I once wept violently at the altar of this church back in Iowa because they rejected the Holy Ghost. I once wept over a relative of mine who was an unbeliever—that relative was very antagonistic towards the Gospel.

The Lord had me hitchhike to New York state back in 1998; I visited a church in Manhattan and I began to weep quietly as I sat in the pew. I have always wondered why that happened. I guess there was something wrong with that church that I couldn’t see with my physical eyes. The Holy Ghost searches and knows and judges all things. I sat in that pew for two hours meditating on the Lord; when I walked out of that church, the Holy Ghost fell gloriously on me and I was burning up with the Presence of God the rest of the day. It seemed like the Lord was rewarding me for walking out of that church.

27  A Fire in my Bones

Last night I had a very long dream. There were thousands and thousands of people in this grassy area—it was rolling ground; it looked like a big park. At first, I thought it was a large picnic where people gathered on a weekend or holiday. Then, as the dream progressed, this gathering of people looked like some Christian convention. There must have been around fifty thousand people. I was walking around this park when I realized that I had something to say to these people. It became a real burden: it was a fire in my bones, but I couldn’t speak what the Holy Ghost wanted me to speak. I began weeping. I thought my head was going to explode; I wanted to speak, but I couldn’t. I then walked to the center of the crowds of people and someone said, “Look: Tim has something to say.” I walked to this table that had some books on it. I opened this book hoping that it was the Bible, but it was a Christian children’s book. I thought that, if I could find some Scripture, it would help to break my inability to speak and deliver the message that the Lord put in my spirit. I looked at another book, but it was not the Bible. I was very frustrated.

28  A Dream About Egypt

Yesterday I hitchhiked from Riverton to Dubois, Wyoming. Usually it takes a half a day to hitchhike from Riverton to Dubois. After I got dropped off in Kinnear, I walked around three miles and I was curious as to why it was taking me so long to get a ride.

I walked a little further and I saw this little deer–it was hung up in a barb wire fence. It looked like it tried to leap over the fence, but instead got tangled between the top two strands of barb wire. I walked down into the ditch and set down my backpack. The fawn looked very frightened as I approached. I took one hind leg and then the next hind leg and freed it up from the barb wire.

There were a few lacerations where the barb wire had punctured the skin, but there was very little loss of blood. As I freed the fawn, it began bawling because it was scared and in pain. It fell to the ground and looked up at me. The fawn then hobbled back under the fence, through the ditch, across the highway (U.S. 26) and back into the other ditch. It hobbled a little further and then hid under some bushes.
I then said to myself that obviously the Lord had delayed me because He wanted me to help free that little deer from the barb wire fence. I was to see later on that this was partly true.

Eventually I got a ride to Crowheart where I got something to eat and drink at the gas station. I then walked a number of miles–from 3 PM till just after sundown. I began to ask the Lord why I wasn’t getting any rides. It was going to get cold (probably below freezing) and I was looking for a place to camp for the night.

Maybe a half hour after sundown, a van pulled over and picked me up. It was a woman named Brenda; she had picked me up before around six months ago. Brenda drove me to Dubois.

We both agreed that there was a lot of sin in the United States and that the Lord was going to bring more judgment on this country. She gave me some Scriptures:

Nahum 1: 3: “The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked.”

Habakkuk 1: 1-4: “The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.”

Brenda’s Dream About Egypt

Brenda took me to her place in Dubois and made me some supper. She then told me a dream she had over fifteen years ago. The dream was about Egypt.

In Brenda’s dream, she saw the River Nile and it was very turbulent. Then Joseph (the son of Jacob, Book of Genesis) came out of the River Nile dressed like an Egyptian. Joseph presented Brenda a little baby in his arms–it was wrapped in some sort of wrapping. Joseph then unwrapped the baby. The left side of the baby was crippled–the baby’s left arm and left leg were swinging around and around–it was very mechanical–it was not normal. The right side of the baby was normal. That was the dream.

I told Brenda that the baby was the new nation of Egypt that would be birthed from the turbulent Arab Spring. Joseph (in the dream) means that Israel or spiritual Israel (Judaeo-Christianity) will help birth the new nation of Egypt.

Joseph was the savior of ancient Egypt and Joseph (Judaeo-Christianity) will be the savior of present-day Egypt. The left wing of Egypt would cause a lot of trouble, but the right wing of Egypt would be stable. (If anybody out there would like to give their thoughts on what this dream means, please leave a comment below)

I told Brenda that the Lord delayed me so that she could pick me up, give me those Scriptures and tell me her dream about Egypt. After we watched this video about the modern discovery of Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia, Brenda drove me to the Episcopal Church where I slept on the floor last night.

Brenda’s ride to Dubois was very Providential. More severe judgment from the Lord may be coming soon on the United States. So be it.

29  Bill Would Legalize Hitchhiking in State

By Trevor Brown
Wyoming Tribune Eagle

CHEYENNE [19 December 2012] — Tim Shey has hitchhiked across Wyoming dozens of times.

The former Jackson resident says it’s a useful way to meet new people, share his Christian faith with fellow travelers and easily find employment.

“If you’re single and unemployed, all you have to do is throw on a backpack, hit the road, and you are bound to find work eventually,” he said. “And it’s a great way to see the country.”

But by doing so, Shey and many travelers like himself have broken the law, since hitchhiking is illegal in Wyoming.

A state lawmaker is now trying to change that by introducing legislation to legalize hitchhiking in the state.

Sen. Leland Christensen, R-Alta, is sponsoring Senate File 29, which will be considered during the upcoming legislative session that begins Jan. 8.

Christensen, who spent 20 years as a deputy with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, said the current law is doing little good.

“In our community, here in the western part of the state, and really around the entire state, people hitchhike because they need to do it, because it’s a convenience or for economic means,” he said. “It seems like one of those laws that had some good intentions, but all it does is single out some folks, usually those new to the community, who some might not like the look of or feel of.”

He said many people are surprised to find out that Wyoming prohibits hitchhiking.

Christensen added that during his experience as a deputy, the law was rarely enforced. If it was enforced, he said it was not enforced consistently.

Sgt. Stephen Townsend, a spokesman for the Wyoming Highway Patrol, said the state has issued 21 citations for hitchhiking so far this year.

He added the Wyoming Highway Patrol has no comment, as of now, on the proposed law change.

Shey, who hitchhiked from Jackson to California a couple months ago, has written two self-published books about his hitchhiking travels.
He said Wyoming is one of only a handful of states that ban the practice.

In the more than 30 years he has been hitchhiking, he said he has only been cited once. And that one time was in Wyoming.

“I think making hitchhiking illegal in a place like Santa Monica (Calif.) makes sense because of all the traffic,” Shey said. “But Wyoming is such a sparsely populated state that there isn’t that problem.”

He added that hitchhiking is much safer than most people realize.

Christensen agreed that many people have misconceptions about hitchhiking from horror movies or urban legends.

He said hitchhiking is relatively safe for the driver and the hitchhiker.

“There seems to be a lot of people across the country who have faith in it,” he said. “Anytime you are mixing pedestrians with traffic, there will be some risk, but that goes the same today for riding a bicycle or walking.

“So there is an element of caution for both the person doing the soliciting and the person picking them up, and that’s where common sense plays into it.”

Christensen added that the state law would still prohibit people from panhandling or soliciting employment or business from vehicles on a highway.

Shey said repealing the hitchhiking ban could make the state more appealing to travelers.

He said the state is already attractive to hitchhikers who want to visit Teton Pass, Yellowstone or are just passing through on journeys east or west.

“I wouldn’t think of them as tramps,” he said. “These are tourists who will want to spend money in the state.”

30  The Last Supper

Luke 22: 19-20: “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.”

John 2: 18-22: “Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.”

John 6: 48-63: “I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

I Corinthians 10: 14-17: “Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.”

The Roman Catholic Church (and probably most Catholics) think that celebrating the Lord’s Supper in the Mass means something. The Catholic Church says that the bread and wine are literally the body and blood of Jesus Christ. This is absolutely ridiculous and it is idolatry. The Catholic Church will use the term transubstantiation to explain why the bread and wine are the body and blood of Jesus Christ: this is philosophical and theological gobbledeegook.

If you look at the above Scriptures, Jesus says that He is the bread of life; He is very clear. When He broke bread and drank wine with his disciples at the last supper, He was pointing towards His death on the Cross at Calvary. Jesus’ body was broken and His blood shed for those who are called to eternal life. If we abide in Him spiritually, our lives will be living sacrifices—broken bread and poured-out wine—for others. We abide in Him spiritually—in faith—not by eating physical bread and physical wine. Scripture is very clear: Jesus is NOT in the bread and wine; He said “Do this in REMEMBRANCE of Me.”

When Jesus spoke of His temple, He wasn’t talking about a stone and mortar temple in Jerusalem built with human hands. He was speaking figuratively. When He speaks of the bread and wine at the last supper, He is speaking figuratively of His death on the Cross.

The carnal mind does not receive the things of the Spirit, so the carnal mind has to invent religious rituals and liturgies to make the sinful, carnal mind (pride) feel good about itself; look at all the man-made rituals and liturgies in Protestant and Catholic churches. The carnal mind is ridiculous and idolatrous. John 6: 60-63: “This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

In I Corinthians 10: 14-17, the inspired writer is warning Christians to FLEE from idolatry. He probably knew that the carnal mind would turn the last supper into some man-made idolatrous ritual. How do we have communion with bread and wine? We don’t: we eat it and drink it—it is a physical, bodily function. Communion is spiritual; communion with the Father is accessed through faith in the Finished Work of the Cross.
“For we being many are one bread, and one body.” Does this mean that we are one big loaf of multigrain bread? No, the writer is talking about a spiritual Body of Christ, bread from Heaven.

If we abide in Christ (die to self), we are broken bread and poured-out wine—a living sacrifice—for others to feed upon. We are spiritual food for a sin-sick world hungry for Jesus, Bread from Heaven.

31  Japan Earthquake

Japan Earthquake–11 March 2011

The Holy Ghost was burning me up on the evening of 10 March 2011. The next morning, I saw on the morning news that Japan was hit by an 8.9 earthquake (later upgraded to a 9.1).

_____

I am not sure how to explain this phenomenon of myself burning up in the Holy Ghost preceding a disaster (and I do experience the Holy Ghost Fire DURING a disaster). I know it has something to do with the Lord’s judgment on sin. You could call it strategic intercession (not unlike strategic bombing during a time of war) or strategic destruction of a satanic stronghold.

When the Lord glorifies my body (actually it is the spirit in my body that becomes glorified), it must act as a lens that the Holy Ghost flows through (like a lens in a laser beam or a laser weapon)—maybe you could call it concentrated Light (Uncreated Light). I am not exactly sure how a laser works, but a laser beam is definitely concentrated light.

I do know, in my spirit, that the Lord is using me in strategic intercession to take out satanic strongholds (principalities and powers of darkness—high level demons)—like Islamo-Fascist radicals—people who hate the United States and Israel. The tension is still there between the descendants of Isaac (Judaeo-Christianity) and the descendants of Ishmael (Islamic slavery). Light versus Darkness.

So the big question: will the Lord give me a premonition, a warning when the Las Vegas Earthquake will happen (like a few days before it happens)? Or will the Lord burn me up in the Holy Ghost before and during the disaster? It doesn’t matter: God’s will be done.

It is a great honor that the Lord is using me to protect aspects of the United States, but the Lord is also using me to destroy satanic strongholds in this country (judgment on sin). Too many people in the United States are promoting the sins of abortion, homosexuality, enviro-paganism (creation worship, instead of Creator worship—as explained in Romans Chapter 1) and other sins. There WILL be more destruction and loss of lives on American soil in the near future.

32  Glorified in His Saints

Isaiah 66: 15-16: “For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.”

This is the Lord working THROUGH His saints (purified believers that are dead to self—not milk bottle Christians; Lordship Christians, not salvation Christians). When the Lord glorifies your body (rapture, the Presence God, Holy Ghost Fire), this is how the Lord destroys Satanic strongholds: strongholds in our physical bodies; powers and principalities in the heavenlies.

The Lord glorifies my body (rapture) usually a few to several times a week. Sometimes it is so powerful, I think my eyes are going to burn right out of their sockets; it is almost painful.

II Thessalonians 1: 8-10: “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; WHEN HE SHALL COME TO BE GLORIFIED IN HIS SAINTS [The Second Coming to purified believers–believers that have gone through their tribulation], and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.”

33  Special Forces

Last night I had a dream from the Lord. I was in this city. There was fighting going on between two armies: Army A and Army B. I was with Army A. The fighting took place among these big buildings; it looked like the downtown area of the city.

During the dream, it all reminded me of the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. The American Army was lulled into relaxing too much and then, all of a sudden, the Germans counter-attacked and took many prisoners.

In the dream, there was fighting between the two armies and then, all of a sudden, the soldiers from both sides put down their weapons and embraced each other. They were all smiling and became fast friends. I stood there looking at what was happening, but I knew something was wrong. In my spirit, I knew that Army B had tricked Army A into a ceasefire. It was a false peace (it reminded me of the phrase “peace and safety and then sudden destruction comes upon them”).

Then I saw strange things happen. These big columns (like they have at the Parthenon in Greece) came in on rollers and new buildings were being erected. But I knew this was wrong: these buildings were being built too fast and on shallow ground; they were built without any foundations. It all seemed false and pretentious.

Then I saw this small group of soldiers coming up behind me from Army A. There were probably ten to twenty men dressed in green uniforms and helmets. They were carrying rifles. They looked like Special Forces. They moved very quickly, were very aggressive; they had faces like flint. They paid absolutely no attention to the lukewarm soldiers of Army A and Army B. These guys meant business. In my spirit, I knew that they knew that something was very wrong with all of this false peace between Army A and Army B. These Special Forces guys moved quickly towards the interior of the city and the rest of Army B (the headquarters of Army B?). I followed with them.

What does this dream mean? Army A is the modern Christian church. Army B is the army of Satan. Army A APPEARS to be fighting the devil, but they really aren’t. They have compromised with the devil and have made peace with the devil (have become conformed to the world) (“they had a form of Godliness, but denied the power thereof”).

The Special Forces are the true Christian warriors—and they were much fewer in number than all of Army A (the modern lukewarm church). It would be like comparing Special Forces with the rest of the United States’ conventional army: there are probably 2 million military personnel and there may be several thousand in Special Forces.

In the dream, the Special Forces did not take heed to the false peace between Army A and Army B. They continued to attack Army B and head to the interior of the city and hunt down bad guys.

This dream reminds me of Elijah and the seven thousand who did not bow down to Baal in the days of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. There were probably around 3 million people living in Israel at the time. It is always a small minority that does the real fighting against Satan.

One more thing: the dream was rather long and many of the details are gone from me now. What is vivid in my mind is my observing the fighting of the Special Forces. They weren’t merely playing church, they were about their Father’s business—they were taking the fight to the enemy; they were taking out satanic strongholds.

34  The Second Coming

I remember the morning that I asked Christ into my life. I walked over to the window of my bedroom and looked outside. I then did a 360, turning and looking around at the walls of my bedroom, then returning back to the window.  It was the last week of July in 1982 that I asked Jesus Christ into my life. I was working on my dad’s cattle farm in Iowa. I had been suicidal since the age of fifteen. My dad put me in a mental hospital for several days earlier that summer. He had me pay the hospital bill. The psychiatrist diagnosed me as suffering from depression and gave me some medication which didn’t do any good.
I said something like, “There is nothing on this planet; there is no reason for me to be here.” I was really sick of living and daydreamed of blowing my brains out with a gun.

I then walked over to my bed and got on my knees and said, “Christ, if you are God, will you please come into my life.” It was the toughest prayer I have ever prayed in my life. I don’t know why, but I didn’t feel the Presence of God until three days later. I knew I had eternal life.

For the next three or four years, I went through a time of great tribulation (purification). It was very unpleasant and I still struggled with suicidal thoughts. This was a time of dying to self (I am still dying to self) and letting the Lord have His way with me. He was pruning my vine and it was very painful.

During this three or four years of tribulation, I spent time in three more mental hospitals. This one psychiatrist diagnosed me as manic-depressive. I had to pay another $4,000.00 in hospital bills (this wiped out my hard-earned life savings). My dad later told me that he paid for all of these hospital bills. If I have any integrity in me, it sure didn’t come from my dad.

In October of 1985, I prayed another prayer of desperation. I said, “Lord, either You are going to heal me of manic-depression or else I am going to blow my brains out.” Less than three months later, my faith in Jesus Christ healed me of manic-depression (demonic bondage). This healing began on the 7th of January in 1986 at a monastery in Nebraska.

I drove back home and told my parents that the Lord healed me of manic-depression. Their reaction was very unfavorable. My dad occasionally would mock me and make fun of me and ask me if I was still on my medication (I was on lithium and a low dosage of an anti-psychotic, which didn’t do much good) (I told them that I was getting off of my medication). The mocking by my dad got so bad, that for three days during Easter Week–Thursday, Friday and Saturday–I had this hot, searing pain in my hands, my feet, my side and there was a circle of pain around my head. It was very painful; it really wore me out. I was working on my dad’s farm and it was very painful to walk and driving the tractor was difficult. On Easter Sunday, the pain was gone.

When one door closes, another door opens. My family did not receive my powerful testimony of healing, so I left my dad’s farm in April of 1986. Eventually I started hitchhiking around the western United States. Being healed of manic-depression and having a sound, healthy mind was absolutely liberating. It was like I had been born again all over again. My hitchhiking led me to central Washington.

In September of 1986, I was living at a Christian hostel in Ellensburg, Washington. It was then that the Lord came to me a Second Time (The Second Coming). Since September of 1986, there has been a constant burning in my forehead (the Presence of God).

Within a week of experiencing The Second Coming, I was attacked by the devil. All day long, there was this evil presence all over me; it was like someone had put a heavy blanket of oppression on me. I got very angry and shouted, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, begone, Satan!” Suddenly, the evil presence was gone. It was such a relief. Praise the Lord!

The Second Coming has been happening to purified vessels (I am still being purified; the Lord is still delivering me of demons) since after the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that the first man to experience The Second Coming was the Apostle John.

John 21: 20-23: “Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?”

I have been living in New Jerusalem (it is a spiritual city) since September of 1986. I am very grateful for what the Lord has done in my life.

“The Kingdom comes not with observation.”

[The Kingdom of Heaven is not seen by our physical eyes, it is perceived in our spirit by the power of the Holy Ghost in spiritual (purified, dead to self) believers. Also, I would like to add, that The Second Coming IS NOT the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. I was baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues in September of 1988–two years after Jesus came to me spiritually The Second Time.]

I Thessalonians 2: 19: “Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?”

35  What Can’t Kill You Will Only Make You Stronger

The closest that Satan ever got to killing me was back in January 1985. At the time, I was living in Washington, D.C. and I had just been admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The doctor diagnosed me as manic-depressive—which is another way of saying that my head was infested with demons. My head was infested with demons because I turned my back on God at the age of eleven.

At the hospital, they put me on a low dosage of some anti-psychotic. Within a few hours, my brain began to shut down and that night I slept a very sound sleep (for the first time in months) until about three o’clock in the morning.

I felt this evil presence come into the room. My body became frozen, paralyzed and I could barely breathe. Then for the next hour this powerful, malevolent being was on top of me trying to electrocute me to death. It was absolute torture; it was very painful. The electric shocks were coursing through my body. It reminded me of that scene in the first Star Wars Trilogy: The Return of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader and the Emperor were at the battle station at the end of the movie. Luke refuses to turn to the dark side and join the Emperor, so the Emperor proceeds to torture/electrocute Luke to death. This is exactly what it felt like.

For the next hour, my body was being electrocuted and I was trying to say the Lord’s Prayer, but it didn’t seem to have any effect. After an hour, the electrocution stopped, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

I believe the reason that Satan attacked me was that he knew that I would soon realize that my manic-depression was a spiritual problem, not a chemical problem, and that I would soon come to the conclusion that the medication they gave me was only a temporary solution.
Satan could see (Satan can see some things in the future—look at his children, the psychics—they can see some things—but it is inspired by Satan and not by the Holy Ghost) that I would ultimately turn to the Lord in faith and be healed and Satan would begin to lose control over my life. Satan is the ultimate control freak.

The few years before I got saved, I was attacked quite a bit in my sleep by demons, and of course, I did not know how to fight against these attacks because I was not yet born again. After I got saved, I continued to be attacked by demons in my sleep. It wasn’t until 1986 that I began to use the Name of Jesus to keep the demons away from me. When an evil presence would come into my room (usually when I was trying to sleep), I would say, “in the Name of Jesus, be gone, Satan!” Eventually, the demon would leave. Later, I began to use the Blood of Jesus and it was much more effective. If I felt an evil presence come into my room, I would say, “Blood of Jesus!” The demon would leave in a split second. In my experience, the Blood of Jesus is more powerful than the Name of Jesus. It was the Precious Shed Blood of Jesus that defeated Satan over two thousand years ago. There is power, power, wonderworking power in the Blood of the Lamb.

A few years ago, I was hitchhiking east out of Colorado and I ended up in central Missouri at midnight. I needed a place to sleep and I found a junkyard near this gas station. I walked over to the junkyard and climbed into this junked trailer home. Immediately I could feel an evil presence in the trailer home. I jumped out of the trailer home and walked around the junkyard till I found a back seat of a car to sleep in. Before I went to sleep, I said, “I plead the Blood of Jesus over this junkyard!” I was never attacked by demons and I slept like a baby that night.

As I have grown stronger in Christ, I have been attacked less and less by demons in my sleep. The last time I got attacked in my sleep was back in February 2005. Before that it was March 2001.

What can’t kill you will only make you stronger.

I don’t like to entertain demons unawares.

36  A Parable About Lukewarm, American Christianity

There was this man who was a great warrior. He had been in many battles over the years. His body had many scars from bullet wounds, bayonet thrusts and artillery barrages. He was a sergeant in the army and he was 45 years old.

There was a platoon of soldiers dug in on some high ground—they were of the same army as the sergeant. The average age of the soldiers in the platoon was 19 years old; they were led by a 24-year-old 2nd lieutenant.

Ten miles away was an enemy force of three thousand soldiers. The sergeant placed himself between the platoon and the enemy.
Whenever the enemy sent their soldiers to attack the platoon, the sergeant killed them with his rifle. This pattern continued for many weeks: the enemy would send their soldiers to attack the platoon and the sergeant would kill them all. The platoon was never touched, it was never in danger. The sergeant was their hedge of protection against the enemy.

One day the sergeant walked to the platoon to see how they were doing. The sergeant walked up to the 2nd lieutenant and told him about the many skirmishes he fought with the enemy, so as to protect the platoon.

The 2nd lieutenant looked at the sergeant in stunned disbelief. He didn’t believe a word the sergeant said and began mocking him and ridiculing him. The 2nd lieutenant told the rest of the platoon what the sergeant had said and the whole platoon began laughing at the sergeant in derision.

The sergeant didn’t say another word. He shouldered his pack, his rifle and ammo and walked away from the platoon. Fifty yards from where the platoon was dug in, he took off his boots and shook the dirt from his boots in plain sight of the platoon. He put his boots back on and walked away. The platoon never saw him again.

A week later, the enemy launched an attack on the platoon’s position and killed all of the soldiers.

37  Obedience: The Bondage Breaker

Back in August 1989 while I was living in Ames, Iowa, I was taking a nap and this intense light shown through my body like an X-ray. I screamed in excruciating pain when it happened. It may have lasted only a few seconds, but what I saw was significant. As the intense light shown through my body, I could see a big, black blob on my right side—from my upper right chest down into my right leg. Immediately, I realized that the Lord was showing me the demonic stronghold (the strongman?) in my body.

Around February of 1997 while I was working at Harold Pike Construction Company, I was at the warehouse checking the oil in a truck parked outside. Just then a couple of Pike employees drove by in a truck, and since there was some good, wet snow on the ground, I decided to grab a handful and throw a snowball at their vehicle as a little distraction. Just as I threw the snowball, a shot of pain went through my right ribcage. I thought I had pulled a muscle. I was very sore. The next morning, I was so sore I could barely breathe and I had to call in to Pike Construction and tell them that I wouldn’t make it to work that day. The next day I came to work, but was greatly hindered by my “injured” ribcage. It healed up in about four days and I have had no problem since.

The Lord showed me that I had been delivered from a demon.
Sometimes when demons come out, they rip and tear and cause temporary soreness. This soreness sometimes feels like a bone is broken. The soreness can last anywhere from twenty-four hours to three weeks (in my experience). The demon that came out of me, I believe, was a soul tie with my mom.

Why did the demon come out? Because a week before the deliverance, the Lord woke me up in the middle of the night and told me to write a letter to my mom rebuking her and her husband for the way they had treated me for so many years because of my Christian faith and other things. Example: dad put me in four mental hospitals and had me pay roughly $5000.00 in hospital bills and then he later told me that he paid for it. I also spent nine and a half months in Ireland back in 1981 and 1982 using my own hard-earned money (between the ages of eleven and sixteen, I earned several thousand dollars raising 4-H cattle, baling hay, walking beans, working for farmers, etc.) and he later took credit for paying for it. Also, my dad usually ignored me and my accomplishments or else took credit for them. I told my mom in the letter that I did not trust or respect her or her husband. They had never acknowledged the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ healed me of manic-depression back in 1986. Since they rejected me, they rejected Christ. In the letter, I ripped into them pretty good. Satan runs that family and I had been dreaming of getting away from that family since I was seven years old.

When my mom received and read that scathing letter, I believe that a soul tie between her and myself was broken. A curse was broken, and the demon could no longer stay in my body. What a relief that was.
When we obey the Lord, bondage is broken. The anointing breaks the yoke of sin.

38  Physical Sight and Spiritual Sight

Luke 17: 20-21: “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

Luke 17: 30: “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” This Scripture does not say, when the Son of man is seen or observed (revelation knowledge is not the same thing as physical sight).

If someone reads the Bible, a newspaper article or a book with their physical eyes, this is not revelation. When you come across a certain Scripture or a sentence in a newspaper article or a book and something is quickened in your spirit by the Holy Ghost—this is revelation from God. The Lord is shining His light (revelation) upon that Scripture or that sentence—it may even be one word—so that we can better understand it. Some people call this a Rhema Word or the Spoken Word.

“The kingdom of God cometh not with [physical] observation.” The kingdom of God comes to purified vessels and is perceived by the spirit by the Holy Ghost. It is a spiritual kingdom; it is not a physical kingdom that you can see with your physical eyes.

The Second Coming is not a physical Jesus coming through some physical clouds for His bride to be seen through the physical eyes. The Second Coming is the Holy Ghost revealing the Lordship of Jesus Christ to purified vessels (dead to self) who can see with their spiritual eyes. These people are not into the letter, but the Spirit, because the letter kills and the Spirit gives life.

Let’s say that the natural, unsaved man can see for twenty miles. Your basic believer in Christ should be able to see for fifty miles (I am speaking figuratively). The Christian believer is spiritually alive and should have spiritual insights that the unbeliever cannot have because the unbeliever is dead in his trespasses and sins. Your basic prophetic Christian should be able to see one hundred miles or five hundred miles ahead of him–or you could say that the prophet can see five years or ten years or five hundred years into the future (this is why prophets are hated so much and are thought to be crazy—they see things way before other people see things and their lives and words convict people of sin).

Revelation from God is spiritual, but the Lord uses our physical bodies/senses/eyesight for His will. The physical body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Our physical body/temple is used by the Lord, so that He can reveal His will to us, so that we can obey His will–this is how we develop and strengthen our spiritual sight.

In 2007, I bought my first pair of reading glasses. As I get older, my physical sight (for reading) is growing weaker, but my spiritual sight is growing stronger. I must decrease, so that He can increase.

39  You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

A number of years ago, I was hitchhiking in Kansas. I was walking on U.S. 54 somewhere west of Pratt. This guy pulled over to give me a ride.

The first thing he said was, “I am a pastor. How may I help you?”

At first, I thought, sounds like a canned speech. Then I replied, “I’m just heading west. Thanks for picking me up.”

As we talked, he mentioned that he used to be a farmer, but he wasn’t making a very good living as a farmer, so he thought he would become a pastor. He told me that he was going to play some golf with some other pastors that afternoon.

So this guy is a pastor, not because he was called of the Lord, but so he could make more money. And I thought I had heard of everything.

He told me that it would be better if he had a congregation of one thousand where everyone gave 20 dollars per week rather than a congregation of one hundred where everyone gave 100 dollars per week. I have never thought of it quite like that before. A guy can get all kinds of sound financial advice hitchhiking the country.

I told him something like the Lord had delivered me of a lot of demons and I was very grateful for what the Lord had done in my life. All of sudden, this frown formed on his face and he started yelling at me. He then dropped me off at this gas station. Looks like I was casting pearls before swine.

I hope his golf game is much better than his preaching.

40  This is Sodom! This is Sodom!

Today I was hitchhiking north on U.S. 395 and was dropped off at Davis Creek, California. I got a hamburger and something to drink at the country store in Davis Creek. From Davis Creek I continued walking north.

It seemed like it was a slow day for getting rides. I walked a few miles and began to run out of water. It was very warm (around 86 degrees F) and the air was smoky from all of the wildfires in the northern California-eastern Oregon neighborhood. Last night, as I slept in my sheepherder’s camper at my friends’ place, the air seemed smokier than usual (the air has been smoky for most of the past
 month).

I stopped walking and began to wonder why it was taking me so long to get to Lakeview, Oregon. Then I realized that the Lord was delaying me for a reason (Jesus Christ is Lord over my hitchhiking).

I stood there on the side of the road for quite some time. Then this older lady in an old pickup pulled over to give me a ride.

She told me, as the conversation progressed, that she was born in England during the war (World War II); her dad was in the Air Force. They moved to California when she was one year old. She did most of the talking. It was difficult to understand her at times; she seemed slightly eccentric.

She was talking and then she started complaining about all of the smoke in the air and all of the wildfires. Then she exclaimed, “This is Sodom! This is Sodom!”

I replied, “Yeah, there is a lot of sin in this country.” (I mentioned the sins of abortion and homosexuality)

She told me that she was a believer. She also said that there were too many churches that didn’t believe there was a devil. She had a Bible on the dashboard of her pickup. She mentioned Proverbs 20: 18, so I took her Bible and read that verse out loud (“Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.”)

She talked some more and then exclaimed again, “This is Sodom! This is Sodom!”

I again nodded in agreement. I don’t know how many times she said “This is Sodom!”, but I knew that she was repeating it for a reason. “In the mouth of two or three witnesses, let every word be established.” I knew that the Lord had her pick me up so that I could hear what she had to say.

Three or four times she reminded me to pass her message on to others. I told her that I would do that. She dropped me off near the county courthouse in Lakeview.

Out of the mouths of babes, sucklings and eccentric people, Thou has perfected praise. “The Lord uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.”

The Lord had that lady pick me up. She kept repeating, “This is Sodom!” What does this mean? Maybe the drought and wildfires are just the beginning of sorrows for the United States. Maybe more judgment is coming. This is a perverse generation.

Genesis 19: 24-28:

“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. And Abraham gat up early he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.”

41  Praying in Tongues

A little over a week ago, I was walking out of Kooskia, Idaho when this lady picked me up. Her name was Fran and she lived in the Kooskia neighborhood. We started talking and she told me that she had been trying to quit cigarettes for quite some time. I asked her if she would like for me to pray with her. She agreed and pulled over by the river and let her dog run around for a while. I put my hand on Fran’s shoulder and began to pray in the Holy Ghost (praying in tongues).

I prayed for a short while and then Fran looked at me and told me that she could pick out some of the words that I was saying. (Since around April of 1989, I have been praying in a French tongue. Before that, I spoke in another tongue.) She told me that it sounded like the French spoken in the Caribbean or in Asia (probably the former French Indonesia). Fran recognized the words: “Father”, “heaven”, “church”, “mother”, “feeding” and maybe a couple of other words. She said that she had studied French for nine years. I told her that I had studied German for two years in high school and one year in college—and that I had never studied French in my life.

I remember I was hitchhiking in Montana a few years ago, and this one guy picked me up and he asked me to pray in the Holy Ghost. He said that he was a French major in college and that he had spent several years in France. He told me that the tongue that I prayed in sounded like the French spoken in the Middle Ages.

Two or three years ago, I was staying in Pomeroy, Washington with a family and I laid my hands on the husband and the son and prayed in the Holy Ghost. The wife had studied French and she said that she heard me say, “it is so, it is so” and, I think, “praise.”

Back in the fall of 1989, I was taking a linguistics class at Iowa State University and there was this young lady from Kuwait in that same class. I asked her what languages she knew and she told me that she new Arabic, English and French. So I told her that I was a Pentecostal Christian (she was probably a Muslim) and that I prayed in tongues.
She asked me to pray, and after I had prayed just for a short while, she got this surprised, flabbergasted look on her face.

She looked at me in great wonder and asked, “You don’t know what you are saying?”

I answered, “No.”

She asked again, “You REALLY don’t know what you are saying?”

“No. I really don’t. I have never studied French.”

She kept staring at me in wonder and astonishment.

So I asked her, “Do you know what I am saying?”

With a beautiful smile, she answered, “You are singing to your Father up in the sky.”

We were all (there were several girls and myself) sitting on the floor outside the classroom door waiting for the class to begin. A couple of the girls asked me some questions about praying in tongues. The young lady from Kuwait kept staring at me.

A week or so later, the young lady from Kuwait told me that she went back to her apartment and told her younger sister about my praying in tongues. Her sister was more surprised than she was. I remember telling her to read about tongues in Acts 2: 4 and she told me that she had heard about praying in tongues before she had met me. Maybe the Lord used her to minister to her sister and she didn’t
even know it. It seemed like her sister was more interested in tongues than she was. Sometimes that is how the Lord works. The Lord’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts; He can see much farther than we can. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Acts 2: 1-11: “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygian, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.”

42  Solomon Islands Earthquake

Yesterday afternoon (February 5th) the Presence of God became very strong. I later went to bed and the Holy Ghost was really burning me up. It was so strong, I really didn’t get to sleep till 1 o’clock in the morning. When the Presence of God is very strong like that, it usually means something.

This morning (February 6th) I was watching the 700 Club and on CBN News, they reported that an 8.0 earthquake had hit the Solomon Islands earlier in the morning. It really bore witness with my spirit.

On the 24th of January, I was at my friends’ office and the phone rang. This lady from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was on the line and she wanted to make some reservations at my friends’ motel for the 5th and 6th of February. When the phone rang, I was reading about William Mulholland and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power on the Internet. I thought it was so strange that I would get a phone call from LA Water and Power while I was reading something about LA Water and Power. As we can see, the Lord was definitely in that synchronized incident. Obviously, the Lord warned me that something was going to happen on the 5th or 6th of February. So what is the significance of the earthquake in the Solomon Islands?

Back on March 10th of 2011, I was at a friend’s place in Dubois, Wyoming. I went to bed early because the Presence of God was very strong. The next morning, I saw on the news that a powerful earthquake had hit Japan (9.1 on Richter Scale). But the Lord never warned me that something was going to happen on the 11 of March (as far as I can remember).

43  The Saint Louis Crossing Independent Methodist Church

I believe it was back in 1999 when I was hitchhiking in Indiana. I was probably on Highway 46 headed due east from Bloomington. I was walking down the highway when this high school kid picked me up.
We started talking and he asked me where I was going. I told him that I thought I was heading into Ohio. I told him that I was a Christian. He said that his father was a pastor and that maybe his parents would like to meet me.

So we drove north to Indianapolis where his family lived.

He walked into their home and told his mom, “Hey mom, I just picked up a hitchhiker and brought him home.”

His mom replied, “Yeah, right.”

I met his mom, and later, his dad and his younger brother. I felt at home right away.

That evening (it was Saturday) his dad asked me if I would like to give a message to their church. I said that I would be honored.

So on Sunday morning, we drove to Hope, Indiana to the Saint Louis Crossing Independent Methodist Church. It was a country church. I think there might have been fifty or sixty people at the service.

When it was time for me to give the message, I walked up to the pulpit, opened the Bible and turned to the Book of Acts. If I remember correctly, I preached about the time Paul wanted to go into Asia, but the Holy Spirit forbade him. Later, Paul had a vision about a man from Macedonia.* So that is how the Gospel came to Greece and eventually other parts of southern Europe.

After the service, I met some very friendly people who gave me some offerings of money for my travels. I was very grateful.

I ended up staying with that family for two nights and then hit the road. I hitchhiked to Madison, Indiana and then across the Ohio River into Kentucky.

Paul wanted to go into Asia, but the Lord did not permit it. I wanted to go into Ohio, but the Lord did not permit it. It is a good thing to be flexible in our daily walk with God. The Lord has the final say on everything.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8: 14)

*Acts 16: 6-10: “Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.”

44  A Letter from Israel

A few weeks ago, I hitchhiked from California to Wyoming. I stayed with some friends in Wyoming for a few days. They had some letters in a box that they were keeping for me. I took these letters with me as I hitchhiked back west.

One of the letters was from Gideon Elazar from Tsfat, Israel; Gideon gave me a ride while I was hitchhiking west out of Helena, Montana back in August 2004:

1.11.04

Dear Tim. I wanted to let you know that I received the disc with the book you wrote [High Plains Drifter: A Hitchhiking Journey Across America]. I read it all and enjoyed it very much. It was a view of America that I had not seen before. As I told you when we met, I too have done some hitchhiking in Israel and in Europe and I knew what it’s like to live on people’s kindness and on God’s grace. I think many people have a perception of the U.S. as a place full of dangerous people and would be surprised to hear about all the really good people you met.

I hope you are well, but I’m not worried because I know you’re being taken care of.

Be well and God bless,

Gideon

45  A Disciple of Christ

Yesterday I hitchhiked from Rocker (Butte) to Lolo, Montana via Anaconda, Philipsburg, Drummond and Missoula. Last night I found a place to sleep a couple of miles west of Lolo near U.S. 12. This morning I got a ride from west of Lolo over Lolo Pass to Lowell, Idaho.

I walked a few miles and then got a ride with a guy named Pete. Pete spoke with a thick, eastern European accent. I asked him if he was from Russia. He told me that he was originally from Romania. We had an intense talk. Pete was a Christian and we both agreed that there is too much sin in the United States and this is why Obama is in the White House. I asked Pete if he had heard of the Prophet Dimitru Duduman. He told me that he knew about Duduman (Duduman was from Romania). I have read most of Duduman’s testimony and his prophetic warnings. Duduman said that because of the sins of abortion and homosexuality that America was going to burn. Duduman began to warn America back in the 1980s. Pete told me that he did not call himself a Christian, but a disciple of Christ. He thought that the label “Christian” has been watered down too much and that there are too many worldly Christians in America. Pete spoke forcefully in the power of the Holy Ghost. I knew that it was Providential that Pete gave me a ride.

I think it is interesting how the Lord sets up certain rides. The ride from Lolo to Lowell was with a young woman. She told me that she would give me a ride to Kooskia. When she got to Lowell, she decided to stop there, go to the convenience store and then turn back to Missoula. If she had taken me to Kooskia, I would have missed Pete.

The ride with Pete reminded me of the ride I got with an older lady last August in northern California. She kept repeating “This is Sodom! This is Sodom!” Pete told me that Christians should leave Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Chicago because of God’s wrath to come. He said that New Orleans will never be rebuilt the way it was before Hurricane Katrina because of the wickedness in that city. The Lord puts people in your path for a reason.

Jeremiah 15: 1-3: “Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity. And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.”

Jeremiah 15: 6-7: “Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.”

46  Déjà Vu

Earlier today I was standing on the side of the road north of Ashton, Idaho. I stood there thumbing for a ride for around two hours. Then this car pulled over onto the shoulder. I put my backpack in the back of the car and got in the front.

The guy who gave me a ride was Nick and he was 23 years old. He was coming from Pocatello, Idaho and heading back to Bozeman, Montana. We talked about a lot of things. He was glad to help out a hitchhiker.

When we were going through this canyon somewhere south of Big Sky, Montana, Nick looked at me and said, “Deja vu.”

I replied, “What?”

“Deja vu. I had a dream this past winter. In the dream, I was driving through some town like Ashton and I picked up this hitchhiker. He was an older guy; I really didn’t see his face. He was wearing a shirt that had North Face printed on it. When I saw the North Face logo on your shirt, I remembered the dream.”

I was wearing a light blue shirt that had the The North Face logo printed on the upper left corner.

I told Nick that his dream and his picking me up in Ashton was a confirmation that we were definitely in God’s will; I was supposed to be in Montana at this time.

I then told Nick that, a number of years ago, I was hitchhiking south of Grangeville, Idaho and this guy picked me up. We were driving through this canyon when he said, “We’ve been here before.” And then I said, “Deja vu?” He had had a dream a while back where he picked me up hitchhiking; it was a positive dream. We drove all the way to Fruitland, Idaho where he dropped me off.

Nick drove to Four Corners near Bozeman and dropped me off at a gas station. We shook hands and I headed to Belgrade.

The Lord definitely knows how to put people in your path.

47  Brian’s Dream about United States and Africa

Yesterday I got a ride from Challis, Idaho to Lolo, Montana with a guy named Brian. He was a Christian and we had some really good fellowship. Brian had just left California a few days before he picked me up. He said that the drought is really bad where he was at in central California. The Lord told Brian to leave California and go to Montana. I told Brian that the drought is only going to get worse in parts of the United States because too many people have turned their backs on God.

Then Brian told me of a dream he had a while back concerning the drought:

In his dream, Brian saw this combine in a corn field where half the field was mowed down. He walked up to this corn stock and looked inside the husk and it was empty. Then he saw these two men with long black hair and beards and they were pulling at their hair and crying out, “Africa, feed us!”

In the last scene of the dream, Brian saw this combine in Africa. The combine was then converted into a war machine. Brian then saw these African troops going to Asia.

In the first part of Brian’s dream, the drought could be literal where people are starving for physical food. Or else it could be a spiritual drought: people are hungry for the Word of God—Jesus Christ, the Bread from Heaven. Maybe the Lord will send more African Christians to the United States to preach to a people that are hungry for God.

48  Walls of Jericho Revisited

Joshua 6: 20: “So the people shouted when they blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.”

Hebrews 11: 30: “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.”

Physical warfare in the Old Testament is a foreshadowing of spiritual warfare in the New Testament.

I am sure that there are manifold reasons why the Lord has had me hitchhike the United States for most of the past seventeen years. One of the reasons is that my hitchhiking is fasting and prayer. Most people think of fasting as fasting from physical food that is digested in your stomach. The lifestyle of fasting that I am talking about is fasting from the world system, lukewarm churches and the traditions of men that make void the Word of God.

In my experience, whenever I obey the Lord, I am delivered of a demon or maybe several demons. I have been delivered of maybe hundreds of demons in my hitchhiking travels and many curses have been broken in my body and soul (I don’t believe that a demon can oppress or possess the spirit of a man—just the soul and the body).

Obedience, in our Christian walk of faith, is the great catalyst or the great mover and shaker of the spiritual realm. Most Christians are justified by faith and that is about it for their walk with God. The few Christians that are living in the Kingdom or New Jerusalem on this earth, are walking the narrow walk of obedience to the Father. The Kingdom is obedience, obedience is the Kingdom (“thy will be done, thy Kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven”). Time and time again I have told the Lord that all of this hitchhiking seems crazy and when do I get to die and go back home to heaven because this world is so strange to me and I really don’t fit in the world or even the church system. But, of course, I am on this earth to please my Father and not myself. All of this obedience (hitchhiking) glorifies my Father and it has delivered me of many deep-rooted demonic strongholds.

The city of Jericho back in Joshua’s day was a physical, demonic stronghold; the generational curses and other curses in my body is/were a spiritual, demonic stronghold—and we defeat this stronghold through obedience to the Lord. And it takes many years to be set free (“work out your salvation with fear and trembling”, “take up your cross and follow me”). As you can see, I am not into this instantsalvationspeak: justification by faith is instant, salvation is not.

The more the Christian believer is freed up from demonic bondage in the body and soul, the more the believer can affect powerful change in the heavenlies: destroying Satan’s work and hindering principalities and powers of darkness.

The life is the sermon, the life is the witness: when you see me, you see the Father.

49  Behold, I Send Unto You Prophets

Matthew 23: 27-31: “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.”

Matthew 23: 34-35: “Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.”

I have always been curious about this scripture: “. . . because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous.” And also this scripture: “Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.”
That is quite a leap from someone who builds a tomb to someone who kills a prophet—especially when they are separated by hundreds of years. How can a tomb-builder and a prophet-killer be related?

False Christians are overly concerned about external things like man-made organizations, rituals and the traditions of men. A man-made building (e.g. tomb of a prophet) is not the temple of the Holy Ghost. The human body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. So if someone is unduly concerned about man-made things,
then how can they truly be concerned about the things of God? We are not here to serve two masters.

If we are about our Father’s business, we can only be full of the Light and Life of Christ. If we are about external things, appearances, self-righteousness, we can only lead people toward spiritual death—and we would be just as guilty as those who killed the prophets. We worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth.

Matthew 23: 37: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem [American churchianity], thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!”

50  Upon This Rock I Will Build My Church

Last night I had a dream where I was standing near these two women who were sitting at a table. They were talking about this Scripture: “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16: 18).” The two women were saying that Matthew 16:18 meant that Peter was the first Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.

I then said, “No, that scripture means that the church is built on the rock of revelation knowledge.”

The two women smiled at me and were happy that I told them this truth.

Matthew 16: 13-19: “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
The key scripture in the above passage is: “Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

On the rock of revelation knowledge the Lord will build His church and the gates (strategies) of hell shall not prevail against it.

51  Yom Kippur

To the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world

By Tim Shey

Death and Resurrection
Alpha and Omega
You shall know the truth

Offering for our sin
Friend of thieves and outcasts

Adam’s curse is broken
The truth shall set you free
One death for so many
Not a single bone was broken
Enemy is vanquished
Manifold temptations
Early you shall seek Me
No more tears and weeping
Today is now eternal

Leviticus 17: 11: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

Isaiah 53: 5: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Revelation 1: 5: “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.”

52  A Deeper Deliverance

Revelation 2: 24: “But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.”

Since October of 2014, I have been going through a deeper deliverance. When a demon comes out of your body, it can be very painful (Mark 9: 26: “And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.”). Parts of my body became very sore in late October and early November—I call this New Testament Circumcision. The pain became unbearable around my eyes and the front of my head, so I had to take some ibuprofen for two to three weeks. My left eye was horribly blood-shot and then, a week later, my right eye became very blood-shot. The body can go through a lot of stress while going through deliverance.

Why did the demon or demons come out? In my experience, a demon will come out of my body when I obey the Lord in something He has told me to do—especially if it is something I really don’t want to do.
The demons that came out of my body since October, I believe, came out because some curse was broken. A curse is like a prison sentence: when the prison sentence is finished, the curse is broken—I would call this strategic deliverance. I believe it could have been a generational curse (sins of my ancestors). I went through six deliverance sessions back in 1988 and 1989 and was delivered of some demons—I would call this tactical deliverance.

When a demon comes out, there can be much coughing, choking and gasping for air or there can be much sneezing with a lot of phlegm coming out of your sinuses or your lungs. I have heard of people vomiting when going through deliverance, but I don’t think that has ever happened to me.

I am very grateful that the Lord is continuing to purify my body and soul of demonic bondage (I don’t believe a Christian can have a demon in his spirit), so that my life will be a more powerful witness for the Lord. “Work out your salvation with fear trembling.”(Philippians 2:12) As of today, my right eye is slightly blood-shot and I haven’t had any severe pain in over two weeks.

Isaiah 10: 27: “. . . and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing.”

Matthew 17:18-21: ” And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

Hebrews 6:1-3: “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.”

53  Enoch: The Seventh from Adam

Genesis 5: 21-24: “And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not, for God took him.”

Hebrews 11: 5: “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

Jude 14 & 15: “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold the Lord cometh with ten thousand of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

How did Enoch walk with God? How can someone be spiritually intimate with the Lord before the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ?

Very little is written about Enoch. According to the Bible, Enoch lived 365 years; the last 300 years of his life Enoch walked with God. The number 365 is significant. There are 365 days in a complete year. Enoch living 365 years is a foreshadowing of the complete man of God (man of faith or man of obedience).

Recently I have heard of a pastor who preached that Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden, not because they sinned against God, but because they did not repent of their sin. Scripture never tells us that Adam repented of his sin or that Adam walked with God after he and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. So why was Enoch different? Enoch was born with Adamic Sin. How did Enoch walk with God?

Enoch, no doubt, offered the required blood sacrifices unto the Lord for his sins and the sins of his family. This was before the Law, the Prophets and the New Testament. Not only did Enoch, by faith, offer an excellent sacrifice unto the Lord, but I believe, that Enoch truly repented of his sin and believed on the finished work of the cross before the fact.

Faith in God transcends time and space. The Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13: 8): somehow Enoch knew this truth from oral tradition or from revealed knowledge. He put his faith in the coming Messiah, died to self-will and was able to walk with God.

Enoch, by faith, was translated and did not experience death. Before he was translated, his testimony was that he had pleased God. It is only by faith (obedience) that we are able to please God.

Enoch 1:9: “And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones To execute judgement upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

54  The Lord Will Judge the Lukewarm Church in America

Last night I had a disturbing dream. In the dream, I was working for this guy that I know in Idaho. (I have stayed with he and his family many times over the years in my hitchhiking travels. He is a lukewarm Christian.) I was working with him and his hired man in what looked like an amphitheater. We were working on the top row of seats and the hired man had his hand outstretched holding onto this wooden panel.
As he was leaning on the wooden panel, the lukewarm Christian pulled a lever and the panel dropped down. The hired man lost his balance and fell seventy feet to the concrete storm drain below. I quickly ran to where the hired man fell over the back of the amphitheater and looked down. I could see the hired man’s body crumpled lifeless on the storm drain. It looked like the man was dead: he had massive head and neck injuries and there was blood all over his upper torso. I yelled for help and eventually an emergency medical team came and extracted the body from the amphitheater. I later learned that the hired man did not die, but was severely injured.

In this dream, the lukewarm Christian represents the lukewarm church in the United States. The hired man, of course, is an hireling (John 10: 11-13*) and he works for the lukewarm church. Before the hired man fell and was injured, he was leaning on a wooden panel (wood, hay and stubble—I Corinthians 3: 12-13**—lukewarm Christianity—it will be exposed and consumed by the Holy Ghost Fire). True Christianity is built on the foundation of gold, silver and precious stones: you have to dig deep for gold, silver and precious stones; wood, hay and stubble are easily obtainable (at ground level, superficial) and ultimately worthless.

The hired man was working in an amphitheater. The amphitheater represents worldly entertainment; many churches in the United States are into worldly entertainment. The amphitheater also reminds me of ancient Greek and Roman amphitheaters: Greek philosophy and Roman engineering are not the same thing as Jesus and Him Crucified or the Gospel preached in the power of the Holy Ghost.

The hired man did not die, but was severely injured. I believe this means that the Lord will definitely judge the lukewarm church in America—there will be much damage to the church, but it will survive.
Hopefully, after experiencing God’s wrath, the hired man and other lukewarm Christians will turn back to the Lord and not to man-made religion (Greco-Roman, so to speak). In God’s wrath, there is both punishment and redemption.

*John 10: 11-13: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.”

**I Corinthians 3: 12-13: “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”

55  Eighteen Years in a Cuban Prison

Today I hitchhiked from Belgrade through Three Forks and Townsend to Helena, Montana. I spent some time at the library in Helena and then started walking across town. I was a few miles west of Helena on U.S. 12 when this tractor-trailer pulled over.

I climbed up into the cab and put my backpack on the mattress in the sleeper. The truck driver's name was Jose and he was originally from Havana, Cuba. It was difficult to understand him; he spoke in broken English.

We didn't talk too much. We listened to some American music and then we listened to some Cuban music. Jose gave me a couple of Cokes to drink. He told me that he had been in the United States for ten years--since 2005.

Jose said that he loved being in America and that he would never go back to Cuba. He thought that Montana and Pennsylvania were the most beautiful states that he had seen.

As we got closer to Missoula on I-90, Jose said that he had spent eighteen years in prison in Cuba. He said that he did not like Castro's politics. He told me that he went through electric shock torture and he showed me some scars on his head. He showed me his hands: his fingers were flat and swollen; I think his hands were broken while in prison. He kept repeating, "Look at my hands! Look at my hands!" It was hard to understand his Cuban-accented English. They may have broken his hands in prison, but they did not break his spirit.

Jose said that the Cuban authorities finally let him and his family go to America. He was very happy to be in America.

Jose dropped me off at the Van Buren Exit in Missoula. We shook hands, I climbed down from the cab and he headed to Spokane, Washington.

56  A Vision about George Washington and America

Earlier today I got a ride from Lewiston to Grangeville, Idaho. I walked out of Grangeville about a half mile and this car pulled over to give me a ride. It was an older couple. They knew some friends of mine that lived in the Kooskia neighborhood. They said that they could drop me off at my friends' place.

As we were driving down the road, the husband told me about a vision that an ex-Muslim had from the Lord.
He had been a dyed-in-the-wool Muslim for a number of years and then he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. He had been in hiding because he had a lot of death threats from his Muslim family.

Here is the ex-Muslim's vision:

He saw the Lord in all of His glory. Then he saw George Washington kneeling before the Lord. George Washington was pleading with the Lord and said, "Please don't let the wicked take over my country [the United States]."

The Lord replied, "I will not let the wicked [unrepentant abortionists, homosexuals, earth worshippers, etc] take over your country, but I will have to destroy it first."

Romans 1: 24-28: "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."

57  Destroyed Them That Believed Not

Jude 5-6: “I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”

Most Christians I know are saved, but they don’t know the Lord. A minority of Christians know Jesus Christ as Lord. Lord means lordship, which means we are not doing our own will, but the will of the Father. There are many self-willed Christians in this world: they figure out the Bible in their heads and do their own thing calling it the will of God. These people need to really submit to Christ and let Him prune their vines and die to self. The less self in your life, the more God flows through your life.

A true Christian has abiding-in faith: he is believing in God every day of his life; he is living by faith everyday of his life. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1) A true Christian walks after (is led by) the Spirit. Also: “the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” Christians who are into the letter of Scripture and not into the Holy Ghost are under bondage; some people call this textualism. They need to break out of this bondage for them to be truly free in Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ isn’t just a bunch of Bible verses.

“Afterward destroyed them that believed not.” Some Christians think that salvation is some sort of formula: they say the Sinner’s Prayer, go to church on Sunday and memorize some Scripture. Do these people truly believe in God for their well-being or in some man-made construct that is spiritually dead? Christian Pharisees gravitate toward dead churches like stink does to excrement.  True Christians are continually seeking God for His will in their lives: He is their provision and He is their protection; wise men still seek His face. We are to be a savor of life unto life to those who are called to eternal life, and of course we will be a savor of death unto death to those who are perishing. If we do not abide in Christ daily, why would we think that heaven is waiting for us when we die? Women usually leave their husbands because the husband does not spend time with and love his wife—and of course, if the wife does not respect and submit to her husband, the husband may have nothing to do with his wife. If the Bride of Christ does not abide in Him, then they are preparing an eternity in hell.

“Draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh to you.”

Hebrews 3: 12-19: “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

58  War and Peace

James 4: 4: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

Look at the world system: everything it stands for is anti-God, anti-Bible and anti-Judaeo-Christianity. Whatever is highly valued by the world is worthless in the eyes of God.

The United Nations is highly valued by the world, but the United Nations condemns the nation of Israel as racist—the United Nations says that Zionism is racist. According to the Lord, Israel is the most important nation in the history of this planet. Israel gave us the Law, the Prophets and the New Testament. Israel also gave us the most precious gift to a sin-sick world: the Messiah: the Lord Jesus Christ.

The world system says that if we give a man food, shelter, clothing and an education, that this is all he needs to be an enlightened and civilized human being. Scripture says that if we seek the Kingdom of Heaven first, then all of our physical needs shall be added unto us. We seek the spiritual food first—and not the food that perishes with our bellies. In my hitchhiking around the United States, the Lord always protects me and provides for me because I am seeking Him first: I am doing His will and not my will.

Let us look at the Nobel Peace Prize. At first glance, one may say that working for peace is a good thing. But peace with whom? Do the Nobel Peace Prize recipients make peace with God or with the satanic world system? I don’t know who all of the Nobel Peace Prize winners are, but have any Christians won the Nobel Peace Prize? My guess is that few or no Christians have won the Nobel
Peace Prize. Christians make peace with God through the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. How was Christ’s Blood shed? Through violence inspired and instigated by the satanic world system. We ALL killed Christ because of our Adamic sin. I am a Christ-killer that has been redeemed by faith in the Blood of the Lamb of God.

A.W. Tozer never got a Nobel Peace Prize. Oswald Chambers would never have gotten a Nobel Peace Prize (look at all of the countless millions and millions of people Chambers has fed with his classic My Utmost for His Highest). Isaiah, Jeremiah and Elijah would never have gotten a Nobel Peace Prize. If Jesus Christ were walking in the flesh on the face of the earth today, He would never get a Nobel Peace Prize because His life CONVICTS the world of sin. The satanic world system would aggressively go after Jesus and try to kill Him. The worldly man hates to be convicted of sin. The worldly man rejects Christ (is at WAR with Christ and has No Peace with God). The Christian is at war with the world system and has peace with God.

War and Peace. Who are you at war with? Who have you made peace with?

Ezekiel 21: 4-5: “Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north: That all flesh may know that I the Lord have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath: it shall not return any more.”

Ezekiel 21: 9-11: “Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished: It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter; should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree. And he hath given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.”

Ezekiel 21: 14-15: “Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers. I have set the point of the sword against all their gates [strategies], that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.”

Ezekiel 21: 28-32: “The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering: Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end. Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity. And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy. Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the Lord have spoken it.”

59  Escaping the Gestapo

Last night I had a dream where I was being chased by police or some sort of Gestapo. They were rounding up all of these people and putting them in vans. When I walked up to this van, there were people sitting inside the van—packed like sardines—with handcuffs and some sort of ring that went around the back of their heads and connected to both ears. They looked like zombies. When I saw this I ran away from the vans. All of these policemen/Gestapo were chasing me, but I was never caught.

Psalm 91: 1-3: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence."

Psalm 91: 9-10: "Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."

Psalm 91: 14-16: "Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation."

60  Upon Mount Zion Shall Be Deliverance

Obadiah 17-21:

“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it. And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead. And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south. And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.”

“The anointing breaks the yoke of sin.”

In the Presence of God shall be deliverance. Those who abide in Christ and are open to the power of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost Fire will break off any demonic bondage.

“And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau [demonic bondage] for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau: for the Lord hath spoken it.”

“And saviours shall come up on mount Zion [the Presence of God] to judge the mount of Esau [unbelievers]; and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.”

“The spiritual man judgeth all things.” “Those who led by the Spirit shall be called sons.”

61  Battlefield

Last night I had a dream where I was lying on the ground of some battlefield. It was a scene right out of World War I. I was wearing a soldier’s uniform and helmet. I was crawling towards a trench lined with barbed wire; the trench was on a little higher ground than where I was. I ran into the trench and had to kill a German soldier. I took a grenade and stuck it into the German soldier’s belly and let it explode while the grenade was still in my hand: the German soldier died, but nothing happened to me. Then I was gripped with a very deep anguish because I had been killing people during the battle. I lifted my head up towards the sky and cried out, “Papa! Papa!” I began to pray in tongues and then the dream ended.

62  The U.S. Senate

Last night I had a dream where I was in the U.S. Senate Chamber or in a large room adjoining the Senate Chamber. There were all of these Senators milling around and talking with each other. I saw Senator John McCain of Arizona walk out of the room.
Then this big, fat Senator gave a fairly long speech. After his speech, he lay down on the floor flat on his back with his arms and legs spread out—he looked like he was absolutely exhausted.

Then this other Senator began to speak. He was very large and had long gray hair and a long gray beard; the hair of his moustache was very long and covered up his mouth. He looked like an absurd version of Santa Claus.

Because of what I saw in the Senate, I didn’t take it seriously. The U.S. Senate is supposed to be one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. It looked like a big zoo where nothing was getting done.

63  Freed from the Prison of Sin

Last night I had a dream where I was in this prison in Georgia. Earlier this year, I had a dream where I escaped from that very same prison—I did not stay one night. In the dream I had last night, I walked up to the prison cell that I had escaped from and this prison guard walked up to me. He had a concerned look on his face, and he said something like, “Hey, aren’t you supposed to be in this prison cell?” Then he became very angry. Just at that moment I wondered why I came back to the prison that I had successfully escaped from. I said to the prison guard, “The Lord freed me from this prison.” All of a sudden, the countenance of the prison guard changed and he began to smile. He told some other guards and they began to talk with me. There was a lot more to the dream, but it is gone from me now.

If the Lord has freed us from the prison of sin and demonic bondage, we must tell others (prisoners and prison guards) how the Lord has set us free.

During the preceding dream, I was real uneasy about being in that prison—I thought the prison guards would try to capture me—but that did not happen: I was able to walk and talk freely with the prison guards.

64  The American Flag: A Christian Symbol

Back in 1986-87, I was living in Ellensburg, Washington. I was attending a small Pentecostal church called Bethel Gospel Church. Some friends at the church invited me to a church conference in Seattle, so I went along.

We were staying at some friends' place in the Seattle area when there was a knock on the door. This older lady walked in and she talked with our friends for a little. Then she turned to me and said that the Lord told her to come and give something to me. I was pleasantly surprised to hear this. She gave me a piece of paper and she had written some things down for me to read.

On the piece of paper was written Psalm 60: 4: "Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah." She also wrote that there are thirteen stripes on the flag: seven red stripes and six white stripes. Thirteen stands for rebellion--in this case rebellion against Satanic oppression (King George III and British mis-management of the Colonies, breaking away from the world system of governance). Seven is God's number; the color red is the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Six is man's number; the color white stands for man's sins washed white as snow by the Blood of the Lamb. The fifty stars represent Pentecost or the power of the Holy Ghost.

I have always remembered that lady and what she wrote on that piece of paper. Whenever I see the American flag (I think it is the most beautiful flag on the planet--I also like the British flag and the Israeli flag), I don't see another flag waving in the breeze, I see the Stars and Stripes of Jesus Christ.

65  Two Dreams: General George Patton and Clint Eastwood

Last night I had two dreams. In the first dream, there were all of these soldiers (U.S. Army) in parade dress standing at attention on a football field. Then General George S. Patton walked onto the football field with a few other soldiers; he was wearing a helmet and dress uniform. He became very angry and pulled out his sidearm and began shooting and killing the soldiers on the football field. The soldiers broke ranks and began to flee in all directions. General Patton continued to shoot and kill the soldiers as they tried to run away from him.

In the second dream, I saw General George Patton and Clint Eastwood and they were dressed in combat fatigues. They were wearing winter coats. They were not wearing helmets. Their faces were smudged and dirty. They were smiling at each other and laughing. It looked like they had just gotten back from a successful combat mission.

66  God’s Protection in Battle

This past week I got a ride from Dubois to Riverton [Wyoming] with a guy who had an uncle who fought in World War II. He was a pilot of a B-17 or B-25 and he flew 29 missions over Japan. On one mission the flak was very bad and it took all of his concentration to fly the bomber over the target. He was able to deliver his bomb load and then he turned back to the base. He then turned to his co-pilot and saw that the co-pilot’s face was blown off. He later landed the plane and discovered that the entire crew had been killed during the mission. There were 57 bullet holes in his windshield. It was the hand of God that protected him in battle.

67  A Prophetess from Minnesota

Somewhere in December of 1991 some friends of mine invited me to some Pentecostal church in Marshalltown, Iowa. That Sunday a prophetess from Minnesota gave the sermon. She was originally from Greece. After the sermon, she walked through the people gathered in the church and prophesied over every one of them. When she came to me she said, “You have a message to give.” I didn’t think about it much at the time: if it (the prophecy) was from the Lord, fine; if it wasn’t from the Lord, fine.

It wasn’t until 1998 that the Lord told me that her prophecy came to pass in 1997 when my two poems “A Prophet’s Eyes” and “Shiloh” were published in Ethos magazine. I believe “Shiloh” disturbed a lot of people. “Shiloh” was absolutely inspired by (dictated to me by) the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would wake me up in the middle of the night and I would have to write down several more verses—that happened for three nights. The great miracle about the whole thing is that the Lord told me to submit these two poems to Ethos, which is a secular magazine, and they were published. Ethos is published by the Journalism Department at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

68  Escape from a Death Camp

Last night I had a dream where I was in a place where these people were being killed—a death camp. I was standing in line with the rest of these people that were waiting to be killed. There were many tractor-trailers (with open trailers like a dump truck) filled with dead bodies and they were going to some place in the country. I escaped the camp and had to crawl and walk on this tractor-trailer/dump truck with dead bodies wrapped in burlap bags; they were stacked neatly in rows—like sardines. There were some bodies that were still alive. I made my way through this empty, dingy town. These three men in a small car were chasing me. I helped this woman and her daughter escape. It was a long dream; I don’t remember all the details.

69  The Kingdom of Heaven

Two very important kingdom Scriptures:

“The kingdom comes not with observation.”

“For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”

The Kingdom of Heaven is primarily a spiritual kingdom, but it does greatly benefit the soul and the body of a man (man is tripartite: spirit, soul and body). The Kingdom of Heaven is perceived (felt) in the spirit of a man—it is not observed by the eyes of the flesh. The people of the world (unbelievers) and carnal Christians cannot perceive the Kingdom of Heaven because they are not spiritual.

The people who work in the Kingdom of Heaven are peculiar in the eyes of the world and in the eyes of carnal Christians. If the Kingdom of Heaven is not observed by the eyes of the flesh, then the work of the Kingdom cannot be observed by the eyes of the flesh: e.g. intercession/spiritual warfare.

There are different levels of intercession. The intercession that I am involved in is absolutely predicated on OBEDIENCE to the Lord. Paga is the Hebrew word for intercession.

People can preach with words or pray with words (praying in their own native language or in another tongue [praying in the Holy Ghost]). People can preach or pray with their lives. A man’s life is the best sermon: a man’s actions (life) speak louder than words. Francis of Assisi once said, “Always preach the Gospel and sometimes use words.” If the Word of God (the Lord Jesus Christ) is engrafted
into your spirit and is dominant in your life, then your life is preaching not in word, but in power.
