Vengeance in New England

Many Calvinist Puritans [Congregationalists] had left England to escape the earlier age's religious persecutions, and they established colonies in Massachusetts. When the Quakers arrived and told them they did not have the true faith, these refugees of persecution turned to become massive persecutors themselves. From William Sewel's 1695 History of the Christian People Called Quakers: The Governor of Massachusetts; the magistrates of Boston, Cambridge, and Salem; the priests, and many other officials viciously persecuted the Quakers, (or anyone who dared care for them), with beatings, whippings, chopping off ears, boring tongues through with a hot iron, and hangings; these persecutions were applied to men, women, and even their accompanying children without mercy. They called both Quaker men and women witches, possessed of the devil. These criminal, unchristian persecutors, themselves met strange, dramatic deaths, sometimes acknowledging it was the judgment of God. John Endicott, the vicious governor who had so many whipped to the point that all their flesh on their backs was destroyed, himself was afflicted so that his back slowly rotted away, with a stench that drove away any would be relievers. But the entire Boston area suffered an even stranger judgment - quoting Sewel:

"Yet one thing remarkable I may mention here, which when I first heard, could not fully give credit to: but thinking it worth the while to make a narrow inquiry into it, I did so, not only by writing, but also from the mouths of persons that had been eye-witnesses, or had been informed by such; and from these I got this concurring observation, namely,  that the country about Boston was formerly a very fruitful soil that produced excellent wheat; but that since the time this town had been stained with the blood of the Quakers, so called, no wheat, or similar crops, would grow to perfection within twenty miles, though the ground had been ploughed and sown several times; for sometimes what was sown was spoiled by vermin or insects; at other times it grew up, but scarcely yielded more than was sown, and so could not support the cost of planting; and in another year the expected harvest was quashed by another accident; and these disappointments continuing many years, the people at length grew weary of making further trial, and so left the ground untilled; notwithstanding that twenty miles off from Boston the soil is fruitful, and yields very good corn. But there having been so many reiterated instances of unfruitfulness nearer the town, ancient people that are alive still, and remember the first times, generally agree in their opinion that this was a judgment from heaven, and a curse on the land, because of the shedding of innocent blood at Boston. This relation I had from so many credible persons, (though the one knew nothing of the other, as differing much in time), yet what they told me did so well agree in the main, that I could not but believe it, though I did not initially believe it to be credulous; and therefore I have been the more exact in my inquiry, so that I can no longer question the case; but it seems to me as a punishment on that blood-thirstiness which now has ceased long ago."

In England, [George] Fox met some of these persecutors with questions so penetrating that it deeply shamed them, and they admitted their guilt of murdering the Quakers. Fearing prosecution from the relatives of those murdered, they fled back to New England. Even when rarely possible to prosecute their persecutors in court, Quakers consistently declined to prosecute them, leaving them to God's judgment.

Worship as a Lifestyle

This is from the blog ecomalen:
Jeremiah 35 was given to me. This is a chapter I had never read before but I believe is relevant to us today. It tells the story of how Jeremiah was instructed to go and speak to the Racabites.
They were a group of very simple living people who lived above the sinful lifestyle of the cities. They were nomads. They did not even settle down to one spot when they were in the city. They were constantly on the move. They were people of very high morals.  Their lifestyle depicts the fact that all believers are strangers in this land. This is not our home. We are headed for our home in heaven. They were not materialistic people and we can learn from this. Their religious convictions were similar to the Israelites but the difference was that they lived more holy lives than the Israelites.
These Rechabites were rewarded for living a holy life by obeying the commandments of Jonadab. God never overlooks even one person who is living upright before Him. They had made a stand, and had not backslidden . God respects this type of loyalty and faithfulness. I believe this applies to us. We are not called to be just ‘christians’. With so many people using the word and with so many different meanings perhaps it has little relevance to us now. People often think of the Israelites but not much mention is given to the Racabites who lived a very holy life, a life set apart and although they lived among and were related to the Israelites God used them to show the Israelites that if you want to follow God you have to set yourself apart. There have been many movements that we can learn from like this and again in the 16th century the movement of the ‘Quakers’ was founded , a movement that pushed away from ‘mainstream Christianity’ (whatever that means) to search for truth and the roots of faith and God’s face.
I wanted to share this with you that when you set yourself apart God can do mighty things so don’t go with the flow and follow the crowd. God bless you.

The Cult of Imitation

A.W. Tozer

This is from the blog wordsoffaithandgooddoctrine:

“The first cult dominating Christianity today is to imitate what we see outside of the Church. This is a characteristic of immaturity, like a little toddler who sees someone do something and tries to imitate it without knowing what it really means. The secular media in America sets the standards for us in the Church. Churches now have 'programs' directed by 'emcees'. This is directly from the world of entertainment. This sacred cow of the world has been brought into the sanctuary of the living God. The Church naively imitates what it sees in the world without any regard to consequence.

"There was a time when the Church set the standard for music. Then the world imitated the Church. Men like Beethoven, Mozart and Handel set the whole world singing, and the focus of their music was the Church. We no longer initiate our music; rather, we pipe in the music of the world around us. Now we go tramping out into the world in order to import into the Church the sounds of the world. We offer this 'swine' on the altar of Jehovah. What blasphemy. We have so much more to offer God. Importing the culture around us instead of adoring the nature and character of Christ within us is the sad reality of today’s Christian.

"Our literature is no different. If there is a best seller out in the world, you can be sure it will be imitated in the Church eventually. Instead of writing great literature that honors God, the Church and the things of heaven, we are duplicating the dreary, morally questionable literature of the world. It seems to be a trophy to some writers to see how close to the edge they can get and not fall over. I have a news bulletin. They are not in danger of falling over the cliff; they have already fallen and do not know it yet.

"The reason for this is that Christianity is greatly misunderstood even by those who claim to be Christians. True Christianity is a mystery, a wonder, something alien and transcendent in this world. The Christianity of the New Testament is incomprehensible to the world. There is absolutely no way to build a bridge between the world’s standards and the Church’s standards.

"Some say it is a great honor and a mark of achievement to write a book acceptable both to the world and to the Church. Something is wrong here. I cannot find anything in the Scriptures or even in Church history that in any way suggests compatibility between the world and the Church. The taste of the Church should be infinitely higher and greater than the world’s. What satisfies the Church should in no way satisfy the world. The true Christian has an insatiable appetite for Christ and the things of Christ, while the world has no such appetite.

"Christ stands alone, and He does not imitate; neither does He court the world in a lame attempt to win the world. Many evangelical churches are closer to the world than to New Testament standards in almost every regard.”

The Great Fire of London

The Great Fire of London In That Apocalyptic Year, 1666 by Neil Hanson

Chapter 2, “The Hellish Design”:

Page 27: “Humphrey Smith’s Vision Which He Saw Concerning London, also written years before the event [1660], predicted a fire in 1666 ‘in the foundation of all her buildings and there was none could quench it . . . .The burning thereof was exceeding great . . . .All the tall buildings fell and it consumed all the lofty things therein . . . . And the fire continued, for though all the lofty part was brought down yet there was much old stuff and parts of broken down, desolate walls, which the fire continued burning against.’

“Daniel Baker also warned where the ‘evil ways’ of London would lead. ‘A fire, a consuming fire shall be kindled in the bowels of the earth, which will scorch with burning heat . . . .a great and large slaughter shall be throughout the land.’ And Walter Gostello ‘looked up to heaven and there saw such a cloud of blackness and dirt as could not possibly arise from any place but hell . . . .If fire make not ashes of the City, and thy bones also, conclude me a liar for ever . . . .Repent or burn, you and your city London.’”

Page 162: "Thus fell great London, that ancient city, that populous city. London, which was the queen city of the land . . .and yet how is London departed like smoke and her glory laid in the dust. . . .How does the whole nation tremble at the sound of her fall. How is the pride of London stained and beauty spoiled, her arm broken and strength departed, her riches almost gone . . .since the firing and fall of this city which had the strength and treasure of the nation in it. The glory of London is now fled away like a bird, the trade of London is shattered and broken to pieces, her delights also are vanished and pleasant things laid to waste."

Chapter XVI
“A Year in Scarborough Castle”
1665-1666

“The very next day after my release, the fire broke out in London [The Great Fire of London, 1666], and the report of it came quickly down into the country. Then I saw the Lord God was true and just in His Word, which he had shown me before in Lancaster jail, when I saw the angel of the Lord with a glittering sword drawn southward, as before expressed.

“The people of London were forewarned of this fire; yet few laid to heart, or believed it; but rather grew more wicked, and higher in pride. For a Friend was moved to come out of Huntingdonshire a little before the fire, to scatter his money, and turn his horse loose on the streets, to untie the knees of his trousers, let his stockings fall down, and to unbutton his doublet, and tell the people that so should they run up and down, scattering their money and their goods, half undressed, like mad people, as he was sign to them; and so they did, when the city was burning.

“Thus hath the Lord exercised His prophets and servants by His power, shown them signs of His judgments, and sent them to forewarn the people; but, instead of repenting, they have beaten and cruelly entreated some, and some they have imprisoned, both in the former power’s days and since.

“But the Lord is just, and happy are they that obey His word.”

George Fox Warning False Christians

George Fox (1624-1691)

Here is some commentary on George Fox by Hall Worthington:

But, for those who preached and taught in error without the words from the Spirit of God, Fox's criticisms were definitely harsh.
He was critical of religious leaders in hopes of motivating them to stop teaching the words of the Bible, without the words of the Spirit. Here is an example, Fox writing to the Puritan priest of Ulverstone, to which Margaret Fox listened before she became a Quaker.
The word of the Lord to you, 0h Lampitt! You are a deceiver, surfeited and drunk with the earthly spirit, rambling up and down in the scriptures, and blending your spirit among the saints' conditions. You had a prophecy, as your father Balaam had; but you erred from it, as your father did. One whose fruit has withered, (of which I am a witness), and many who have known your fruit have seen the end of it, that it is withered; and do see where you are, in the blind world, a blind leader of the blind; a beast wallowing and tumbling in the earth and in the lust; one that is erred from the spirit of the Lord, of old ordained to condemnation. You are in the seat of the Pharisees, are called master by men, stand praying in the synagogues, and have the chief seat in the assemblies; a right hypocrite in the steps of the Pharisees, and in the ways of your fathers, the hypocrites, which our Lord Jesus Christ cried woe against. Such with the light you are seen to be, and by the light are comprehended; which is your condemnation who hate it, and will be so eternally except you repent. To you this is the word of God; for in Christ's way you are not, but in that of the Pharisees, as you may read in Mat 23. All that own Christ's words can see you in the Pharisees way. Christ, who died at Jerusalem, cried woe against your kind; and Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The woe remains upon you, and from under it you can never escape, except through judgment, condemnation, and true repentance. To you this is the word of God. To that of God in your conscience I speak, which will witness the truth of what I write, and will condemn you. And when you are in your torment, (though now you swell in your vanity, and live in wickedness), remember you were warned in your lifetime. When the eternal condemnation is stretched over you, you shall witness this to be the word of the Lord God to you; and if ever your eye should see repentance, you would witness me to have been a friend of your soul. (Notice Fox speaks the words from the Spirit of God, often in the presence of God, in the Kingdom of God; click here to see more examples).
But in his day, Christ was also extremely judgmental of those who taught religion in error. For example, here is what Christ had to say about those preachers and teachers who had not been purified within their hearts:
See Jesus' Criticisms for many more.

And John the Baptist had this to say about hypocritical religious leaders:
Yes, Fox was very critical of the religious teachers, priests/preachers, and to a lesser degree, to the professed believers of his day.
But that is because they were false Christians - they had not been changed in heart, purified, crucified of their lusts and affections.
To be a preacher, they must be trained and authorized by Christ himself, with his spirit guiding their words.
Those who taught error were blind guides, leading others into the ditch and to destruction.

By the 1800's on, Quakers in general judged their founder's criticisms and vocal opposition to the Protestant and Catholic sects and priests to be appalling. The later Quakers judged their founders to be intolerant, rude, unloving, judgmental, etc. This is the case of unfinished  men of the flesh judging a spiritual man obviously under control of the Spirit of God; likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities, Jude 1:8-10. Fox and many of the early Quakers were in the Kingdom of Heaven, therefore heavenly dignities, deserving of respect. A man of the flesh is without understanding and supremely arrogant to judge a man of the spirit. A man of the flesh cannot comprehend the degree to which false prophets are held in contempt by God, and therefore spared no extent of verbal lashing, especially when in a debate with others listening who might have been misled.

Jacksonites, Yours is a Bloody City

WYOMING’S BLOODY CITY
By Mark Holick

"To the Presbyterian Church and Paul Hayden:  you said you have 'adamantly pro-life' and 'adamantly pro-choice' people in your church, this is an abomination. What Bible are you preaching from? Does the sixth Commandment mean anything to you? The 'diversity' you spoke of is a euphemism for; we accept sin, even those who support the shedding of innocent blood. I urge you to repent. Woe to them who call evil good and good evil (Is. 5:12). You and your church are not pro-life in any sense. Stop the hypocrisy. Be honest and tell everyone that you are a pro-abortion/murder church.

"To River Crossings and Mike Atkins:  you reject your pro-life brothers and sisters in the Lord (escorted out) and embrace practicers of witchcraft (invited in), your choice (and rejection) of friends is telling. How long has Blue been murdering babies in your city that you are the leading pro-life elder of? You don’t like our 'methods,' you say you want to be the local leader, so what is your plan to save those babies who will have their little fingers, toes and eyes chopped off by Blue next week, in your city? Go ahead Mike, light another candle.

"To Community Bible Church and Don Landis:  you rejected us outright. And was elated to have your brother in the Lord cited. So what is your plan to end the killing in your city? What is your responsibility Don, (Dt. 21:1-9, Pr. 24:11-12)?

"To St. John’s Episcopal:  your support of the shedding of innocent blood and homosexuality is an abomination. You are not a Christian Church, you are an apostate church. Repentance is your only hope.

"To all those of the 'civility, compassion, love campaign':  you are pro-aborts, by another name. The shedding of innocent blood is acceptable with you. We felt your 'civility, compassion, and love' all week long with F words, vehicular assault attempts, vandalism, and the largest flock of birds we have seen in any city. Where is your civility, compassion, and love for your preborn neighbor? Your hypocritical civility, compassion, love means you support the murder of innocent children…with a smile.

"To the Jackson Police:  you deceived us…again. Some men keep their word, others do not. Your petty harassments on Sunday were tripe.

"To the Federal Government lackey who threatened us with FACE and hounded us all week while befriending a man who sheds blood for a buck:  you had no reason to be involved in any way with peaceful, law abiding, Christians ministering the gospel of Jesus. You sir, are a bully with a badge.

"To all law enforcement:  did you swear an oath to the Constitution or to codes and ordinances? And if you say both, then which takes precedence?

"To the Jackson Mayor and City council:  yours is a bloody city and your overt protection of the most violent man in the whole of Wyoming is on you, before the Lord God, His Name is Jesus, King of kings, who is the Great Judge of all the earth (Is. 11:4). May He have mercy on your eternal soul.

"To those who name the name of Christ Jesus and either attacked us or disassociated yourself from us:  you threw your unborn neighbors, who have fallen among thieves, under the bus (Lk. 10:29-37). …For so persecuted they the prophets which were before you (Mt. 5:12). If you are a true Christian but simply a Nicodemus by night (Jn. 3:1-2), then it is time to come out of the stained glass cave, and boldly cry out against the evil of your city. Justice is every Christians calling from the Lord!

"To those who dislike our graphic signs:  we dislike them also. However, who is in the wrong, those who show the pictures or those who make the pictures? Shall we shoot the messenger? You did not like our 'method,' so tell us, what is your method to stop the killing of 100’s of little baby boys and girls, this year, next week, in your city? Or is the truth that, you just don’t care?"

"'I, John Brown am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood.'  [John Brown said nothing on the gallows, but handed a note containing these words to a guard. The outbreak of the Civil War in April, 1861 proved John Brown prophetic.]

"John Brown was the 'The meteor of the war,' as author Herman Melville called him. John Brown was an abolitionist, and a religious fanatic. Some say that John Brown is a martyr. Brown believed he was an instrument of God."

Shiloh
By Tim Shey

Brutal deathdance;
My eyes weep blood.
Pharisees smile like vipers,
They laugh and mock their venom:
Blind snakes leading
The deaf and dumb multitude.

Where are my friends?
The landscape is dry and desolate.
They have stretched my shredded body
On this humiliating tree.

The hands that healed
And the feet that brought good news
They have pierced
With their fierce hatred.

The man-made whip
That opened up my back
Preaches from a proper pulpit.
They sit in comfort:
That vacant-eyed congregation.
The respected, demon-possessed reverend
Forks his tongue
Scratching itchy ears
While Cain bludgeons
Abel into silence.

My flesh in tattered pieces
Clots red and cold and sticks
To the rough-hewn timber
That props up my limp, vertical carcase
Between heaven and earth.
My life drips and puddles
Below my feet,
As I gaze down dizzily
On merciless eyes and dagger teeth.

The chapter-and-versed wolves
Jeer and taunt me.
Their sheepwool clothing
Is stained black with the furious violence
Of their heart of stone.
They worship me in lip service,
But I confess,
I never knew them
(Though they are my creation).

My tongue tastes like ashes:
It sticks to the roof of my mouth.
I am so thirsty.
This famine is too much for me.
The bulls of Bashan have bled me white.
Papa, into your hands
I commend my Spirit.

Obama Will Leave the White House

Last night I had a dream about Barack Obama. He was in the White House in the Oval Office packing up his things. Obama was resigning as President of the United States. Joe Biden was taking his place. Then someone in the dream said that Wayne somebody (I didn't get his last name) and Tim Shey were right on target.

Just after the dream ended, I felt this evil presence come into my camper (I am staying at my friends' place in a sheepherder's camper). It felt like something was trying to choke me around my neck; I began to be paralyzed. Then in my spirit, I said "Blood of Jesus" over and over again and broke free from the paralysis.

I got up, put on my shoes and walked over to my friends' kitchen and began to write down the dream. I looked at the clock and it was 1:11 AM (16 July).

Obviously, Satan is angry that the Lord gave me this dream. Satan tried to attack me just after the dream. The night of the Las Vegas Earthquake dream (17 December 2006), Satan attacked me before I had the dream.

George Fox - An Autobiography
By Rufus M. Jones
Chapter XII
"Great Events in London"
1658-1659

"But it was a time of great sufferings; for, besides imprisonments, through which many died, our meetings were greatly disturbed. They have thrown rotten eggs and wild-fire into our meetings, and brought in drums beating, and kettles to make noises with, that the Truth might not be heard; and, among these, the priests were as rude as any, as may be seen in the book of the fighting priests, wherein a list is given of some priests that had actually beaten and abused Friends."

"I wrote to Oliver [Cromwell] several times, and let him know that while he was persecuting God's people, they whom he accounted his enemies were preparing to come upon him. When some forward spirits that came amongst us would have bought Somerset-House, that we might have meetings in it, I forbade them to do so: for I then foresaw the King's coming in again. Besides, there came a woman to me in the Strand, who had a prophecy concerning King Charles's coming in, three years before he came: and she told me she must go to him to declare it. I advised her to wait upon the Lord, and keep it to herself; for if it should be known that she went on such a message, they would look upon it to be treason -- but she said she must go, and tell him that he should be brought into England again.

"I saw her prophecy was true, and that a great stroke must come upon them in power; for they that had then got possession were so exceeding high, and such great persecution was acted by them, who called themselves saints, that they would take from Friends their copyhold lands, because they could not swear in their courts.

"Sometimes when we laid these sufferings before Oliver Cromwell, he would not believe it. Therefore Thomas Aldam and Anthony Pearson were moved to go through all the jails in England, and to get copies of Friends' commitments under the jailer's hands, that they might lay the weight of their sufferings upon Oliver Cromwell. And when he would not give order for the releasing of them, Thomas Aldam was moved to take his cap from off his head, and to rend it in pieces before him, and to say unto him, 'So shall thy government be rent from thee and thy house.'

"Another Friend also, a woman, was moved to go to the Parliament (that was envious against Friends) with a pitcher in her hand, which she broke into pieces before them, and told them that so should they be broken to pieces: which came to pass shortly after."

The Last Supper

The Last Supper

Luke 22: 19-20: "And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."

John 2: 18-22: "Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said."

John 6: 48-63: "I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

I Corinthians 10: 14-17: "Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread."

The Roman Catholic Church (and probably most Catholics) think that celebrating the Lord's Supper in the Mass means something. The Catholic Church says that the bread and wine are literally the body and blood of Jesus Christ. This is absolutely ridiculous and it is idolatry. The Catholic Church will use the term transubstantiation to explain why the bread and wine are the body and blood of Jesus Christ: this is philosophical and theological gobbledeegook.

If you look at the above Scriptures, Jesus says that He is the bread of life; He is very clear. When He broke bread and drank wine with his disciples at the last supper, He was pointing towards His death on the Cross at Calvary. Jesus' body was broken and His blood shed for those who are called to eternal life. If we abide in Him spiritually, our lives will be living sacrifices--broken bread and poured-out wine--for others. We abide in Him spiritually--in faith--not by eating physical bread and physical wine. Scripture is very clear: Jesus is NOT in the bread and wine; He said "Do this in REMEMBRANCE of Me."

When Jesus spoke of His temple, He wasn't talking about a stone and mortar temple in Jerusalem built with human hands. He is speaking figuratively. When He speaks of the bread and wine at the last supper, He is speaking figuratively of His death on the Cross.

The carnal mind does not receive the things of the Spirit, so the carnal mind has to invent religious rituals and liturgies to make the sinful, carnal mind (pride) feel good about itself; look at all the man-made rituals and liturgies in Protestant and Catholic churches. The carnal mind is ridiculous and idolatrous.  John 6: 60-63:  "This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

In I Corinthians 10: 14-17, the inspired writer is warning Christians to FLEE from idolatry. He probably knew that the carnal mind would turn the last supper into some man-made idolatrous ritual. How do we have communion with bread and wine? We don't:  we eat it and drink it---it is a physical, bodily function.  Communion is spiritual; communion with the Father is accessed through faith in the Finished Work of the Cross. "For we being many are one bread, and one body." Does this mean that we are one big loaf of multigrain bread? No, the writer is talking about a spiritual Body of Christ, bread from Heaven.

If we abide in Christ (die to self), we are broken bread and poured-out wine--a living sacrifice--for others to feed upon. We are spiritual food for a sin-sick world hungry for Jesus, Bread from Heaven.

Chapter XVII
"At the Work of Organizing"
1667-1670

"When we came before Dublin [Ireland], we took boat and went ashore; and the earth and air smelt, methought, of the corruption of the nation, so that it yielded another smell to me than England did; which I imputed to the Popish massacres that had been committed, and the blood that had been spilt in it, from which a foulness ascended."

"Passing thence about four and twenty miles, we came to another place, where we had a very good, refreshing meeting; but after it some Papists that were there were angry, and raged very much. When I heard of it, I sent for one of them, who was a schoolmaster; but he would not come.

"Thereupon I sent a challenge to him, with all the friars and monks, priests and Jesuits, to come forth, and 'try their God and their Christ, which they had made of bread and wine,' but no answer could I get from them. I told them they were worse than the priests of Baal; for Baal's priests tried their wooden god, but these durst not try their god of bread and wine; and Baal's priests and people did not eat their god as these did, and then make another."

Shiloh
By Tim Shey

Brutal deathdance;
My eyes weep blood.
Pharisees smile like vipers,
They laugh and mock their venom:
Blind snakes leading
The deaf and dumb multitude.

Where are my friends?
The landscape is dry and desolate.
They have stretched my shredded body
On this humiliating tree.

The hands that healed
And the feet that brought good news
They have pierced
With their fierce hatred.

The man-made whip
That opened up my back
Preaches from a proper pulpit.
They sit in comfort:
That vacant-eyed congregation.
The respected, demon-possessed reverend
Forks his tongue
Scratching itchy ears
While Cain bludgeons
Abel into silence.

My flesh in tattered pieces
Clots red and cold and sticks
To the rough-hewn timber
That props up my limp, vertical carcase
Between heaven and earth.
My life drips and puddles
Below my feet,
As I gaze down dizzily
On merciless eyes and dagger teeth.

The chapter-and-versed wolves
Jeer and taunt me.
Their sheepwool clothing
Is stained black with the furious violence
Of their heart of stone.
They worship me in lip service,
But I confess,
I never knew them
(Though they are my creation).

My tongue tastes like ashes:
It sticks to the roof of my mouth.
I am so thirsty.
This famine is too much for me.
The bulls of Bashan have bled me white.
Papa, into your hands
I commend my Spirit.

The Second Coming

New Jerusalem is a spiritual city

It was the last week of July in 1982 that I asked Jesus Christ into my life. I was working on my dad's cattle farm in Iowa. I had been suicidal since the age of fifteen. My dad put me in a mental hospital for several days earlier that summer. He had me pay the hospital bill. The psychiatrist diagnosed me as suffering from depression and gave me some medication which didn't do any good.

I remember the morning that I asked Christ into my life. I walked over to the window of my bedroom and looked outside. I then did a 360, turning and looking around at the walls of my bedroom, then returning back to the window.

I said something like, "There is nothing on this planet; there is no reason for me to be here." I was really sick of living and daydreamed of blowing my brains out with a gun.

I then walked over to my bed and got on my knees and said, "Christ, if you are God, will you please come into my life." It was the toughest prayer I have ever prayed in my life. I don't know why, but I didn't feel the Presence of God until three days later. I knew I had eternal life.

For the next three or four years, I went through a time of great tribulation (purification). It was very unpleasant and I still struggled with suicidal thoughts. This was a time of dying to self (I am still dying to self) and letting the Lord have His way with me. He was pruning my vine and it was very painful.

During this three or four years of tribulation, I spent time in three more mental hospitals. This one psychiatrist diagnosed me as manic-depressive. I had to pay another $4,000.00 in hospital bills (this wiped out my hard-earned life savings). My dad later told me that he paid for all of these hospital bills. If I have any integrity in me, it sure didn't come from my dad.

In October of 1985, I prayed another prayer of desperation. I said, "Lord, either You are going to heal me of manic-depression or else I am going to blow my brains out." Less than three months later, my faith in Jesus Christ healed me of manic-depression (demonic bondage). This healing began on the 7th of January in 1986 at a monastery in Nebraska.

I drove back home and told my parents that the Lord healed me of manic-depression. Their reaction was very unfavorable. My dad occasionally would mock me and make fun of me and ask me if I was still on my medication (I was on lithium and a low dosage of an anti-psychotic, which didn't do much good) (I told them that I was getting off of my medication). The mocking by my dad got so bad, that for three days during Easter Week--Thursday, Friday and Saturday--I had this hot, searing pain in my hands, my feet, my side and there was a circle of pain around my head. It was very painful; it really wore me out. I was working on my dad's farm and it was very painful to walk and driving the tractor was difficult. On Easter Sunday, the pain was gone.

When one door closes, another door opens. My family did not receive my powerful testimony of healing, so I left my dad's farm in April of 1986. Eventually I started hitchhiking around the western United States. Being healed of manic-depression and having a sound, healthy mind was absolutely liberating. It was like I had been born again all over again. My hitchhiking led me to central Washington.

In September of 1986, I was living at a Christian hostel in Ellensburg, Washington. It was then that the Lord came to me a Second Time (The Second Coming). Since September of 1986, there has been a constant burning in my forehead (the Presence of God).

Within a week of experiencing The Second Coming, I was attacked by the devil. All day long, there was this evil presence all over me; it was like someone had put a heavy blanket of oppression on me. I got very angry and shouted, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, begone, Satan!" Suddenly, the evil presence was gone. It was such a relief. Praise the Lord!

The Second Coming has been happening to purified vessels (I am still being purified; the Lord is still delivering me of demons) since after the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that the first man to experience The Second Coming was the Apostle John.

John 21: 20-23: "Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?"

I have been living in New Jerusalem (it is a spiritual city) since September of 1986. I am very grateful for what the Lord has done in my life.

"The Kingdom comes not with observation."

[The Kingdom of Heaven is not seen by our physical eyes, it is perceived in our spirit by the power of the Holy Ghost in spiritual (purified, dead to self) believers.  Also, I would like to add, that The Second Coming IS NOT the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  I was baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues in September of 1988--two years after Jesus came to me spiritually The Second Time.]

Chapter IX
"A Visit to the Southern Counties Which Ends in Launceston Jail"
1655-1656

"While I was in prison here, the Baptists and Fifth-monarchy men prophesied that this year Christ should come, and reign upon earth a thousand years. And they looked upon this reign to be outward: when He was come inwardly in the hearts of His people, to reign and rule; where these professors* would not receive Him. So they failed in their prophecy and expectation, and had not the possession of Him. But Christ is come, and doth dwell and reign in the hearts of His people. Thousands, at the door of whose hearts He hath been knocking have opened to Him, and He is come in, and doth sup with them, and they with Him; the heavenly supper with the heavenly and spiritual man. So many of these Baptists and Monarchy-people turned the greatest enemies to the followers of Christ; but He reigns in the hearts of His saints over all their envy."

*professor--someone who professes to be a Christian, but is not really saved. Someone who has Christ in his head, but rejects Christ in his spirit. Outward (false) salvation versus inward (true) salvation: "The letter kills [outward], but the Spirit gives life [inward]."

Chapter XIV
"Labors, Dangers and Sufferings"
1661-1662

"But I told them that the whore was alive in them, and was not burned with God's fire, nor judged in them with the same power and Spirit the Apostles were in; and that their looking for Christ's coming outwardly to set up His kingdom was like the Pharisees' 'Lo here,' and 'Lo there.' But Christ was come, and had set up His kingdom above sixteen hundred years ago, according to Nebuchadnezzar's dream and Daniel's prophecy, and He had dashed to pieces the four monarchies, the great image, with its head of gold, breast and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and its feet part of iron part of clay; and they were all blown away with God's wind, as the chaff in the summer threshing-floor."

Chapter XVII
"At the Work of Organizing"
1667-1670

"Whilst I was under this spiritual suffering the state of the New Jerusalem which comes down out of heaven was opened to me; which some carnal-minded people had looked upon to be like an outward city dropped out of the elements. I saw the beauty and glory of it, the length, the breadth, and the height thereof, all in complete proportion. I saw that all who are within the Light of Christ, and in His faith, of which He is the author; and in the Spirit, the Holy Ghost, which Christ and the holy prophets and apostles were in; and within the grace, and truth, and power of God, which are the walls of the city; -- I saw that such are within the city, are members of it, and have right to eat of the Tree of Life, which yields her fruit every month, and whose leaves are for the healing of the nations.

"Many things more did I see concerning the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, which are hard to be uttered, and would be hard to be received. But, in short, this holy city is within the Light, and all that are within the Light, are within the city; the gates whereof stand open all the day (for there is no night there), that all may come in."

Below is a comment by Jerry Collins that is right on target when describing The Second Coming.  Jerry Collins' comment is #20 on the post "Is the Japan Earthquake in Bible Prophecy".

"I agree with the notes posted on 7/15/2011 by the filter. Jesus did indeed tell his disciples that there were some standing there that would see the kingdom come before they died. Please note that jesus was asked about the kingdom and responded “the kingdom of God cometh not with observation (you can’t see it) neither shall you say lo here or lo there for behold, the kingdom of God is within you”. This is really clear don’t you think? The kingdom is a spiritual kingdom and can’t be seen. The point most people miss is that the kingdom did come just as he said (in their lifetime). Read acts 2 and you will find that Peter did not say this is similar to what the prophets predicted but he said "this IS THAT which was spoken by the prophet Joel that it will come to pass IN THE LAST DAYS that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh…"  The last days according to Peter were right then and any other interpretation would call Peter’s statement untrue.  The last days simply meant the end of the first covenant and the start of the new whereby we can all (Jews and gentiles alike) enter the kingdom. This is why in Colossians Paul stated that “he HATH (already) translated us into THE KINGDOM OF HIS DEAR SON”. If Paul could get into the kingdom then, why are we still looking for his kingdom? Jesus also said ” My kingdom is not of this world”; should we deny that he knew what he was talking about. Another thought … in Matthew 24 Jesus was talking directly to HIS DISCIPLES and them ALONE! He never even hinted that anything he spoke about would happen thousands of years later. Read this for yourself and see if this is not true. He never said the frequency of earthquakes meant a sign of anything… same about famines, pestilence, etc. He simply said these are the beginning of sorrows. All this stuff about these things being signs of the last days is false and manmade, it is not in Matthew 24. If you don’t believe this, show me THE VERSE that says otherwise. Also read Matthew 24 verse 34 which clearly says "THIS GENERATION (the one they were living in) shall not pass till ALL these things be fulfilled." There are 15 other places where Jesus used the phrase “this generation or a wicked and adulterous generation” and no one has any doubt that he meant the one present at that time, yet people try to twist his words to fit their purpose. I will take the words of Christ over any theologian any day. Jesus was describing the destruction of the temple and the end of the Jews as the covenant people, not some end of the world scenario.  (As a matter of fact, the Bible never mentions the end of time; Daniel calls it The time of the end. The end of what? Genesis 8 says God will never again destroy every living thing. All these rapture theories describe everyone except the raptured ones being killed contrary to God’s word.)  I know that many will disregard this because they have always been taught otherwise; please take this test (as a dear friend and minister used to tell me)… Don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself and see if everything I have said is true. God bless you all and I pray you too will be translated into his kingdom while here on earth."
