Something Strange Happened on 20 April 2025

Around the 18th of April 2025 my boss, Matt, went on a trip for four weeks.  He came back on the 18th of May.  The Sunday after he left (20 April), I took a nap for a few hours.  I am a light sleeper, so if someone were to walk into the restaurant where I live, I should hear them.  After my nap, I opened the door of my room and noticed that the light in the dining room was on.  I virtually never turn on that light.  I was curious as to why that light was on.

I then walked into the entrance of the restaurant. There is a dining table sitting right next to this big picture window.  On that table were four magazines laid out perfectly so that four people sitting at that table could read those magazines after they sat down.  Instead of four plates, there were four magazines on the table.

I then walked into the restroom where we keep the mop and bucket.  We also have a five-gallon bucket that we keep in a floor sink in that room.  I noticed that the five-gallon bucket was full of water.  I did not fill that bucket with water.  Why was that bucket filled with water?

When Matt got back from his trip, I told him what had happened and if someone did this as a prank.  I told him to ask his son Lucas, if he did it.  Just last night, Lucas and a couple of his friends stopped by the restaurant to get something to eat.  I asked him if he did it as a prank and he looked a bit surprised and told me that he didn't do it.

Could this be a God thing?  When I first saw the light that was turned on, the four magazines on the table and the bucket full of water, I didn't think it was something negative.  The light that was turned on bore witness with my spirit:  it was something positive, it was edifying.

Let's say this was a God thing and that the Lord was trying to show me something.

  1. The light that was turned on.  We who abide in Christ are the light of the world.  A light that shines in darkness expels that darkness.  Maybe the Lord is telling me that my light is shining.

  1. The four magazines on the table.  Magazines are made for people to read.  Magazines are mass media.  Magazines can influence a lot of people all over the world.  There wasn't one magazine on that table, there were four.  If someone had an article published in one magazine, a certain amount of people would read that article.  If someone had an article published in four magazines, then maybe four times as many people would read that article.  Four times as many:  multiplication:  sowing seed and bearing fruit.  We who abide in Christ bear much fruit.  Also, it was the table right next to the big picture window.  It was not a table next to the smaller windows in the restaurant.  It was the big picture window.  In the middle of the afternoon, much sunlight can shine through that picture window.  The big picture:  strategic:  affects more people as opposed to a smaller window (tactical)—less sunlight, less influence, less people.  Big picture window:  more sunlight, more Sonlight, more Son of God Light.  The Light of the world.

  1. The bucket filled with water.  It is something that was definitely positive.  The bucket was not half-full; the bucket was filled to the brim.  My life is full because of Jesus Christ.  My cup overflows.  John 7:38:  "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."

  1. I Kings 19:5-7: "And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee."

  2. I love hearing stories like this: angel stories, stories of God's provision. I was with a friend in Dubois, Wyoming years ago and he told me that his grandfather was out hunting with a friend in the Wind River Mountains near Dubois--maybe back in the 1930s. They were a long way from their vehicle and this snowstorm came in all of a sudden. They couldn't find their way back to the road. Then they discovered these two log cabins. They walked inside one of the log cabins and there was firewood and some supplies. They were able to make a fire and stay there for the night. The next morning, the storm had passed and they were able to find their way back to the road.

Year after year, those guys would walk back up to the place where those log cabins were and they couldn't find them. It looks like the Lord created those log cabins out of thin air to help those two hunters during that storm.

Another story of provision. Back in around 1970, there was this pastor who had a small church. He was low on money and couldn't buy any groceries. One evening, he walked back to his apartment and noticed two large pots full of beef stew next to his doorstep. That stew lasted for many days. He washed and cleaned up the pots and told the people at his church, whoever brought the two pots of stew, thank you and you can pick up your pots any time. No one stopped by to claim the pots. Looks like the Lord provided the beef stew.
