Sugar City, Idaho
28 November 2015
Yesterday I was walking north of Sugar City, Idaho on U.S. 20 when this pickup pulled over to give me a ride. The guy's name was Ted and he looked like he was in his late sixties or early seventies. He was driving from Utah to Billings, Montana. I told him that I was heading to Belgrade, Montana.
Ted spent 12 years in the Special Forces (Green Berets). He did four tours in Vietnam. Ted was from the Crow Reservation south of Billings (he was 15/16 Crow and 1/16 French). I told Ted that I had hitchhiked across the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Reservations a number of times over the years.
Ted told me that when he saw me, something hit him in the head and told him to pick me up. Ted is a Christian and we had great fellowship all the way to Belgrade.
I told Ted that I was involved in intercession/spiritual warfare issues. He told me that he had been working on a project on the Crow Reservation for 20 years to help the Crow Nation become independent of federal welfare programs. Ted has met with a lot of opposition. I told him about the power of prayer and we talked more about the things of God.
We stopped at a gas station in Henry's Lake, Idaho. Ted bought me some biscuits and gravy and something to drink. We then walked back to the pickup and he handed me a plate of Thanksgiving dinner. He told me that his friends in Utah gave him that plate of Thanksgiving dinner for him to eat on the road. Ted knew it was for someone else. As he drove through Utah he saw this homeless guy (maybe in Salt Lake City) and offered him that plate of food. The homeless guy told him that he had just eaten dinner. So Ted gave me the plate of food; I was very grateful.
Ted told me something interesting. He said that his great grandfather was a Crow Scout for Colonel George Custer; his great grandfather had fought with Custer at Little Big Horn. His name was Gozerhead. We talked more on the Crow, the Sioux, the Northern Cheyenne and the Blackfoot tribes. I told Ted that I enjoyed reading military history.

I love it when the Lord puts someone in your path and you have a lot in common with them and you have this great conversation for hours. When this happens, either you will say something that they were supposed to hear or else they will say something that you were supposed to hear. It may be one word or one sentence and then the Lord engrafts it into your spirit and your grow stronger from it. Some Christians call it a Rhema word. You could also call it our daily bread. Jesus is the Word of God and He is the Bread from Heaven.
Ted dropped me off just south of Belgrade and continued to Billings. I walked to the McDonald's and got some tea to drink and sat and read the Bible till it got dark. I then walked to this junk pickup on the far side of town and hunkered down for the night. It got down to minus 3 degrees F that night. My two water bottles froze solid, my loaf of bread froze solid, my sandwich that Ted bought for me froze solid, but I did not freeze solid. It had been a very blessed day on the road.

You Will Reap What You Sow
Like French Roast coffee, I will make this post short and bitter.
France has a long history of evil, persecuting Christians, and supporting and harboring monsters. A city that gave shelter to the exiled Ayatollah Khomeini, Karl Marx, and a place for the leader of the PLO to hide his stolen billions, can expect a dark harvest.
I know there is much to love about the French, but there is also a parallel line of the country’s history that will demand justice. The infamous globalists are very comfortable in Paris. So also the terrorist organization known as Antifa.
America, take notice!

This is from the blog Dover Beach:
“Even when your body does nothing, sin can be active in your mind. When your soul inwardly repulses the evil one’s attack by means of prayer, attention, remembrance of death, godly sorrow and mourning the body, too, takes its share of holiness, having acquired freedom from evil actions. This is what the Lord meant by saying that someone who cleans the outside of the cup has not cleansed it inside, but clean the inside and the whole cup will be clean (cf. Mt. 23:25-26).”

The Republic of Sodom and Gomorrah
"I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD."
Amos 4: 6-12: "And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel."
Amos 5: 2-3: "The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up. For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel."
Amos 5: 11-12: "Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them. For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right."
Amos 7: 17: "Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land."
Amos 9: 5: "And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt."
II Peter 2: 6: "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly."
"And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."
Revelation 18: 23-24: "And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."

“When Abba Anthony thought about the depths of the judgments of God, he asked, ‘Lord, how is it that some die when they are young, while others drag on to extreme old age? Why are there those who are poor and those who are rich? Why do wicked men prosper and why are the just in need?’ He heard a voice answering him, ‘Antony, keep your attention on yourself; these things are according to the judgment of God, and it is not to your advantage to know anything about them.'”

This is from the Singapore Christian blog:
A prison inmate on a death row was asked his last wish before he could be electrocuted in the electric chair, he asked for a pen and paper then wrote:
“Dear mum, If the law was fair today you would be here seated next to me waiting to be electrocuted in the electric chair, but since the law is blind I have been convicted for the crimes we committed together. Mum remember how it started, do you remember when I was 3 years old when I stole my brothers sweets? you didn’t correct me, remember very well when I was five the day I stole my neighbours’ toys and hid it at home you said nothing, mum remember when I was 12 when I hid my cousin’s ball in the garage when he had come to play with us at home and you said that you did [not] see it yet you saw it. Do you remember the day I was expelled from school at 15 years? Dad wanted to punish me but you refused and that very day you had a bitter argument with dad about this because you where defending me, you said I was still young you said the teachers where wrong to say that I was not attending class. You defended me, you said I was right yet you knew I was wrong. Mum remember very well, you saw me steal our neighbours’ bicycle when I was 17 but you didn’t report I sold it but you were silent mum. You loved me so much yes you loved me but you you didn’t correct me, instead you spoilt me. That is how it started and it graduated slowly until today when I will be electrocuted for bank robbery and murder. I was very young I just needed your guidance mum, by the time you will be reading this I will be gone.
Yours truly, your loving son.”
To all parents out there, the Bible says. Proverbs 13:24 (NIV): "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them."

This is from the blog Crushed By God:
When a service provider or agent puts us on hold, our flesh rises exponentially with each passing moment. Of course, we can hang up, yell in the phone, and even write bad reviews online….“Bad customer service, was on hold for 10 minutes!”
But for followers of Jesus Christ, our lives, our hopes and expectations, can be put on hold for days, months, even years. “We belong to God” does not imply membership but ownership, we’ve been bought with a price. God heard our cry for deliverance, for healing, for financial breakthrough, for a call to serve – for purpose and fruitfulness in the Kingdom of God – and yet oftentimes He puts us on hold.
Noted English evangelist Leonard Ravenhill speaks of God’s “University of Silence” in his book, ‘Sodom Had No Bible’. Many spiritual giants endured years of ‘silence’, such as Joseph imprisoned for many years and Moses’ 40 years of shepherding. Jesus Himself lived 30 years, seemingly silent, while observing religious hypocrisy and all kinds of human suffering. Noted in Matthew, Jesus surely had divine wisdom and discernment at a young age. But even as God incarnate, Jesus maintained perfect obedience as a Servant – waiting for the Father’s perfect timing to reveal Him as Savior.
As servants ourselves, we may find our particular ministry with its passion and calling, come to a season’s end. It is a tremendous loss as nothing compares to ‘co-laboring in the fields with the Father’ with the joy of God’s Spirit moving. Yet, there are times when our assignment lies only on the sidelines, waiting for God’s perfect timing, His open door and call to service.
“Most of us hate to be under-rated. We may not seek to head the parade, but – and this is our pitiable weakness – we must be in the parade.”! (Leonard Ravenhill)The ‘University of Silence’ separates us, not only from the world, but often from broad fellowship with believers. God desires an intimacy that comes from separation – often a separation unto Him brought about by loss and suffering. Why separation? Why loss? Why suffering? Why should our hopes and expectations be on hold?
How long should we wait at life’s juncture before God opens the door, reveals His will, or leads us to those “good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”? Obedience requires that we wait indefinitely, faith requires that we hope expectantly!
Conversely, we can create possibilities, try to ‘make things happen’ – but that is not a call of God. That’s the ‘call of King Saul’ who lost the kingdom through his own willfulness. Saul lost his kingship when he ‘appointed’ himself priest and later, void of all spiritual discernment, lost his life after consulting a witch.
When God has us ‘on hold’, when we’re stuck at some juncture, God’s word assures us of His sovereignty and purpose over our lives. He also warns us though, of acting outside His will – it is the dependence upon Him and the surrender to Him that under-gird a life pleasing to God.
It is actually an honor to be in God’s ‘University of Silence’. When we are living right and yet He calls us out of the parade and away from all that seems fruitful and winning, He’s calling us to Himself. Being obedient in the everyday ordinary and sitting at the feet of our Lord is not a demotion, it’s a preparation.
God may keep us “on hold” but will never hang up. He is working in that silence, in that wilderness, even in an undeserved ‘prison’. I pray, in these last days, to walk with obedient patience, and yet with living expectancy of God’s call into a new season.

President Donald Trump
Dreams from the LORD 2011-2018
4 October 2018
Last night I had a dream where I saw a younger LBJ: he wasn’t President, but still a U.S. Senator. LBJ was talking with a few other U.S. Senators. They were conspiring against JFK. It was a very long dream, but most of the details are gone from me now.
In this dream, LBJ represents the Deep State; JFK represents President Donald Trump. The Deep State is comprised of establishment Democrats and Republicans who are trying to undermine President Trump’s agenda. Some people think that LBJ was behind JFK’s assassination in 1963.
If powerful men cannot kill you, they will engage in character assassination and smear campaigns to ruin your reputation.

This is from the blog Richard's Watch:
Now [in Haran] the LORD said to Abram, “Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.
“And I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].
“And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and curse him who curses or uses insolent language towards you; in you ALL the families and kindred of the earth will be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].” (Genesis 12:1-3 Amplified Bible)
I was reminded of this passage last weekend as being the explanation for the amazing news of financial markets in the US defying the tumult convulsing rest of the world!
Bloomberg reports: “If we looked at the world through just a U.S. lens, it would all seem quite sublime. Geopolitics and geo-tensions are far from it, however,” Marty Mitchell, former head government bond trader at Stifel Nicolaus & Co. and now an independent strategist, said in his daily newsletter Thursday. “It’s just a strange and disconcerting world that we live in, yet the U.S. equity market and the U.S. economy just keep chugging along”; …‘for now, investors may have good reason to be confident in U.S. assets amid the global turmoil. (but) that doesn’t mean they can ignore the events offshore, such as Turkey,’ says Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer of Bleakley Financial Group.”
To me this speaks of a consequential blessing coming upon the United States because president Trump recognises Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state of Israel and therefore relocated the US embassy there. (The next day Guatemala moved theirs too and their ambassador reports that on the day its doors opened no crime was reported in her homeland for the first time in its history! – ICEJ editorial, Word From Jerusalem.)
And today upon reading William Koenig’s Eye View from the White House Genesis 12 crops up again:

This is from the blog A Word in Season:
“So then death worketh in us,
but life in you”
2 Corinthians 4:12
Words are simply containers; in themselves they have little worth. We use them to convey our thoughts, desires, feelings and the chit-chat of everyday interaction. Words in the Christian culture are multiplied in our technological world of books, sermons, podcasts and social media, yet we do not see a corresponding growth and depth of character in the reality of Christ! There must come a realization that in the clutter of words there is a missing ingredient perpetuating this crisis. We must hear in our spirit this one significant truth:
“For the kingdom of God is not in word,
but in power.”
1 Corinthians 4:20
Let this sink into the very core of our hearts. “The Kingdom of God is not in word.” There are many who are mere purveyors or merchants of words, ideas and concepts. It is a dealing with information which may tickle the intellect of men and women but never reaches the heart. These words contain no fire, no pulse of the living God. Words with fire bring conviction and produce change. As long as we are content with words without fire, sermons which produce no change and breathe no conviction and meetings in which people leave with the same outlook as when they came we will go no further in our walk with God.
Jesus is God’s Word
Jesus is not only the thought of God, He is the Power, the Substance and the verity of God the Father. The fullness of the Godhead dwelt and revealed itself in His full purity of life, love and wisdom. The words of an individual can only convey what is IN the individual. Where there is no spark there is no fire. When there is no identification of the vessel with the cross there can be no power of the life of Christ. The Gospel is more than words; it is the very communication of the life and power of God.
“For our gospel came not unto you in word only,
but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost,
and in much assurance;
as ye know what manner of men
we were among you for your sake”
1 Thessalonians 1:5
There was a connection between the ministration of the word and the manner of life of those who spoke the word. We cannot communicate something that is not within us. Fire is the result of touching, tasting and abiding in Him who is a consuming fire. Individuals who have no fire cannot give it to others. We must realize that mere words (even the scriptures) when ministered apart from the Spirit are cold and lack His power to convict, to inflame, to bring warmth and the light of change into the lives of those to whom we speak.
Each Sabbath in Israel the words of the prophets were read, but because there was no living ministration of those words they did not “hear” the voices of the prophets crying out concerning Christ!
“For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers,
because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets
which are read every sabbath day,
they have fulfilled them in condemning him”
Jesus said His Words are “spirit and they are life” and to whatever measure we are in Him will it be so of us. It is this relationship which brings vitality and life to the words we speak. The ministration of His Life can only be found in corresponding measure to the depth of His rule and His love within us.
Lord save us from being merchants of words and make us instruments of your life and wonder. Keep calling us to deeper places of abiding, beholding and eating of You so that we will convey You and not just empty words about you.
“Where the word of a king is,
there is power…”
The power of our words will be found in our submission to the King of kings. There is no other remedy for our condition. To bear the Word of the King one must be ruled by Him. Obedience to Him is the vital element to speaking His Word and it is only then we will see change in the world around us. Obedience is not something we can learn from classes, books or sermons; it is by the actual operation of the faith of the Son of God ruling and reigning within our own heart. No one else can walk this out for us; it is as personal as our relationship with Him.
“For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ,
but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches
deceive the hearts of the simple”
Fair speeches and good words are plenty in our day but words ministered without the impetus for men and women to walk and live in them leads to deception.
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves”

I just finished reading DEATH OF A NATION: Plantation Politics and the Making of the Democratic Party by Dinesh D'Souza. It is an excellent read. I hope many people--especially Christian Patriots--read this book.
Excerpt from page 222:
"So let's draw out the analogy between the old slave plantation and the new urban plantation. In both cases we have a group that doesn't work, refuses to work, is sexually dissolute and obsessed with luxurious display, status and respect, and gets into duels--sometimes lethal duels--over petty objects like a pair of sneakers or insults. Just to be clear, I am not making a predictable comparison between the inhabitants of the urban plantation and the slaves. Rather, I am making one between the inhabitants of the urban plantation and the slaver-owners.
"The Democratic planter class, after all, was made up of people who did nothing, whiling away their time in duels, sexual chicanery, card games, cockfights and luxurious displays. And they could get by with doing nothing because they relied on the slaves to do all the work. While their ideology proclaimed the slaves to be dependent on them, they were in fact dependent on the slaves. On the urban plantation, too, inhabitants do little or no productive work. And most of them can manage without employment because in one way or another they are dependent on the federal government.
"Another similarity between the old Democratic plantation and the new is that in both of them the family structure is in complete disarray. On the Democratic slave plantation, the slave-master was typically married, but this did not stop him from carrying on with the female slaves. As for the slaves, they might cohabit, but they could not legally marry, and their offspring were the property not of the parents but of the master. On the Democratic urban plantation, marriage, though legal, is virtually unheard of, and illegitimacy rates of 75 to 90 percent are common."

This is from the blog Gorges' Grouse:
Just in case you don't think President Trump is doing the right thing! Read this!
*\"Yesterday, at the hospital, we had a meeting about how the situation here and at the other Munich hospitals are unsustainable.
*Clinics cannot handle the number of migrant medical emergencies, so they are starting to send everything to the main hospitals.
*Many Muslims are refusing treatment by female staff, and we women are now refusing to go among those migrants!
*Relations between the staff and migrants are going from bad to worse. Since last weekend, migrants going to the hospitals must be accompanied by police with K-9 units.
*Many migrants have AIDS, syphilis, open TB and many exotic diseases that we in Europe do not know how to treat. If they receive a prescription to the pharmacy, they suddenly learn they have to pay cash. This leads to unbelievable outbursts, especially when it is about drugs for the children. They abandon the children with pharmacy staff with the words: So, cure them yourselves! So the police are not just guarding the clinics and hospitals, but also the large pharmacies.
* We ask openly where are all those who welcomed the migrants in front of TV cameras with signs at train stations? Yes, for now, the border has been closed, but a million of them are already here and we will definitely not be able to get rid of them.
*Until now, the number of unemployed in Germany was 2.2 million. Now it will be at least 3.5 million. Most of these people are completely unemployable. Only a small minimum of them have any education. What is more, their women usually do not work at all. I estimate that one in ten is pregnant. Hundreds of thousands of them have brought along infants and little kids under six, many emaciated and very needy.
If this continues and Germany re-opens its borders, I am going home to the Czech Republic. Nobody can keep me here in this situation, not even for double the salary back home. I came to Germany to work, not to Africa or the Middle East!
Even the professor who heads our department told us how sad it makes him to see the cleaning woman, who has cleaned every day for years for 800 euros and then meets crowds of young men in the hallways who just wait with their hands outstretched, waiting for free, and when they don't get it they throw a fit.
I really don't need this! But I am afraid that if I return home, at some point it will be the same in the Czech Republic. If the Germans, with their systems, cannot handle this, then, guaranteed, back home will be total chaos....
*You - who have not come in contact with these people have absolutely no idea what kind of badly behaved desperados these people are, and how Muslims act superior to our staff, regarding their religious accommodation.
*For now, the local hospital staff have not come down with the diseases these people brought here, but with so many hundreds of patients every day of this is just a question of time.
*In a hospital near the Rhine, migrants attacked the staff with knives after they had handed over an 8-month-old on the brink of death, who they'd dragged across half of Europe for three months. The child died two days later, despite having received top care at one of the best pediatric clinics in Germany. The pediatric physician had to undergo surgery and the two nurses are recovering in the ICU.
Nobody has been punished. The local press is forbidden to write about it, so we can only inform you through email. What would have happened to a German if he had stabbed the doctor and nurses with a knife? Or if he had flung his own syphilis-infected urine into a nurse's face and so threatened her with infection? At a minimum he would have gone straight to jail and later to court. With these people so far, nothing has happened.
And so I ask: Where are all those greeters and receivers from the train stations? Sitting pretty at home, enjoying their uncomplicated, safe lives. If it were up to me, I would round up all those greeters and bring them here first to our hospitals emergency ward as attendants! Then in to one of the buildings housing the migrants, so they can really look after them there themselves, without armed police and police dogs, who, sadly today, are in every hospital here in Bavaria.\"
*Is this \"situation\" coming to our country?
If you understand the dangerous situation that is heading our way please share and spread this by all and any means that you have available.

This is from the blog Dover Beach:
“Those taught by God will be regarded as fools by the disciples of such as are wise in the wisdom of this world. But in fact it is the worldly-wise that are fools, spouting an inane secular wisdom, the stupidity of which God has demonstrated and which Scripture condemns as material, unspiritual, devilish, filled with strife and malice (cf. Jms. 3:15). Since these people are blind to the divine light, they cannot see the marvels it contains; they regard as deluded those who dwell in that light and see and teach others about what is within it. On the contrary, it is they themselves that are deluded, not having tasted the ineffable blessings of God.”

This is from the blog Dover Beach:
“The Holy Spirit dwells in the saints and remains with them for ever, if they cleanse the eye of their understanding by cleaving to every sound doctrine and by resolutely pursuing every virtue, and thus maintain the grace within themselves. For Christ says that those who are in the world, that is, those who are preoccupied with the things of this world and choose to love earthly things, are unable to contain or to behold the Spirit.”

Men do not find God because they do not seek for Him. For if they truly sought, they would find. A seeking of power or of wisdom as distinct from the seeking of God Himself is idolatry; and it is the fool who supposes that God will suffer His might or counsel to be either mingled with or weighed by that of men. Woe to them that go on tickling their own ears, who repent not of their own devices and conceptions when the Lord makes Himself known; for in due time He grants them strong delusion! Woe to them that become proud of seeking the satisfaction of their own minds as an end in itself, as though having no higher authority were the truest of wisdom; for in vain they seek out an excuse not to find the immovable reality of He who is Lord of all, and their reward is the void which they have so esteemed. To deify the mind of man is to blaspheme the mind of God. “Professing to be wise, they became foolish…”
All things (under the sun – natural light) are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
The ears of men are ever itching to hear a new thing; but let a matter be spoken of God, and it cannot be tolerated. They cannot bear to hear of their true predicament, because it breaks the noise of their elaborate distraction: the machinery of artificial crisis, the religion of passing the blame. The monument to destruction is ever so carefully built up, the meaningfulness of vanity is ever so highly venerated to draw the heart unto anything but the substance and reality of God Himself. The emptiness of man’s soul is ever feeding upon the devices of its own self, never to satiate its hunger. The more of its own debt that it thinks to pay, the more that it finds to be owing. Well does the symbology of the enemy mockingly betray a truth: that the serpent remains ever consuming its own tail, for it cannot fulfill itself. Such madness is the prospect confronting those who reach the end of all earthly learning and wisdom in a world which lies under the power of that wicked one.
But the spiritual are free of this vanity, for through the operation of the Spirit of Truth within them “by the faith OF the Son of God,” they overcome Devil’s persuasion to share in his fate. These recognize through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit that all deception begins in the heart of a man, including their own; and must be overcome by the Truth of God dwelling in the innermost parts. By Him they are made free of their rebellious state, which disposes the heart to so readily to be flattered by the crafty peddler of the tree of knowledge. For the fruit of the tree of Life can only be planted and nurtured by that one Spirit of God Himself – which feat no mere man can accomplish, “because the mind of the flesh is enmity towards God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither CAN it be.” With those after the flesh, the Sovereign Lord is righteous to find fault, and against such He is also righteous to execute judgement; “for the saving grace of God has appeared to all men,” and “men loved the darkness instead of the light, for their deeds were evil,” so that men are without excuse.
The demonstration of man’s depraved heart without God’s Life reveals His long-suffering and patience; and the impossibility of men to choose freedom from themselves reveals how much that grace truly is grace. For among whom none was righteous and not one merited favour, He raises up from among the incapable dead a people for His own possession, which by Him are also made into His likeness; as the likeness of God was otherwise inseparably lost, and no man but those being conformed to the likeness of the One Son of Man can claim truly to bear the image of God – though even many Christians are ignorant to this fact. It is not in the least unfair that the many are allowed into destruction: truly it is of His mercies that not all men are utterly consumed. Indeed it is a wonder that He has so decreed and laboured to save even some, working unto the good of those who love Him, who do so because they are “THE called according to His purpose.” And being that such is the gift of God, there are none of them which can boast! For not by prudence in observing signs of power have the zealots been delivered, any more than that by knowledge in plausible arguments have the wise been truly enlightened; but salvation is revealed “to those who are called, of both Jews and Greeks: Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
For the power is He who died now reigning over death; and the wisdom is He who was raised now living in those who by His operation have died.
For except the Lord has implanted the working of His faith within a soul, it proudly lives unto itself and remains dead to God, existing under that great darkness concerning which the apostle rightly spoke, “There is NOT ONE that seeks after God.”Now it is tempting for the carnal mind to minimize or try to deny so comprehensive and infinitely deep a chasm; but enduring faith rests upon power unseen of the eyes, and it reckons by wisdom unknown of the mind, having first accepted this horrible truth. And since the will of sinful man is utterly free of God, praise be unto God that His will is utterly free of sinful man, so that He may bridge the chasm without the loss of any to whom His mighty arm is revealed!
For the freedom of the human will is only ever unto the bondage of the tyranny of self; and the breaking of this evil will by God is required to bring about the true freedom of serving His good, pleasing, and perfect will. The creature indeed has capacity for much; but no son of Adam has any capacity for spiritual goodness without first the extension of uncommon grace which gives power to become a child of God. Seeking with the whole heart after the One who exposes the thoughts and intentions of the heart is a characteristic of those being made alive in Christ Jesus: it is the province of those that are being drawn of the Father; for only by His Spirit are uncovered the wonders of His great Mystery. And those who have found the mystery (which is the glory of God hidden in Christ, and living in them), if these shall continue to overcome the snare of mere human ingenuity, let the prayer of their regenerated hearts ever remain, “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.”
For if we are saved not of ourselves, but by the gift of God, how much more then should we also dispose the continuation of our growth in Him unto that same power and wisdom of Christ; for now within us He strives to will and to do according to His good pleasure. For that power and wisdom of Christ, which before we lacked and has now been endowed – shall we not with fear and trembling now submit to its working, a choice which before we could not have made? For it is not unto the heathen, but unto the children, that God says, “Choose you this day whom you will serve,” and, “receive not the grace of God in vain.” The Law of the Spirit of Life is come!
“…faith arises from disposition of soul, but dialectic from the skill of its inventors. Wherefore to those who have the inworking through faith, demonstrative argument is needless, or even superfluous. For what we know through faith you attempt to prove through words, and often you are not even able to express what we understand. So the inworking through faith is better and stronger than your professional arguments. We Christians therefore hold the mystery not in the wisdom of Greek arguments, but in the power of faith richly supplied to us by God through Jesus Christ.”
