Rivers of Living Water

Dreams from the LORD 2011-2012
31 July 2012

Last night I had a dream where I was camping out in a tent. It was an orange tent that was open on both ends—it did not have a floor (I used to have a two-man tent, but it was enclosed on all sides and had a floor). Then Jimmy Swaggart (a well-known American evangelist—especially in the 1980s) showed up. There was someone with him—it may have been his son. He needed some water. I had some water, so I gave it to him. Then I showed him a gas station up the road. I think he went to the gas station to get some more water.

If this dream is from the Lord, then what is the significance of the orange tent? I have never had an orange tent. If you are camping out, I would think that you would want a tent that blends in well with the scenery. Maybe the orange tent means that I don’t blend in well with the scenery, that I am not conformed to the world. The fact that my tent was open on both ends and did not have a floor, means that I am very mobile (I hitchhike a lot), I do not have a certain dwelling place and that I am a pilgrim on this earth.

Hebrews 11: 38: “They wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”

The water that I gave to Jimmy Swaggart is the life of Jesus that flows out of me feeding those who are thirsty for spiritual life/depth. I believe that Jimmy Swaggart represents evangelists and Christians in general.

John 7: 37-38: “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

When Jimmy Swaggart goes up the road to the gas station to get some more water, I believe this means that he is going to the source (the Lord) for more revelation knowledge.

  1. Dear Tim,
Interesting dream. Maybe the orange means 'alert'? You stand out as a warning. Swaggart comes to you for living water, but then goes to a gas station? Maybe he didn't like what you had to say?

Weird...I had a dream just the other day that I was in the spirit at a Billy Graham crusade and I watched people file in super happy and anticipating what he had to say. I wondered why people wanted to listen to him, when the LORD has been showing HIS lowly servants warnings to repent and warnings of judgement...

  2. Yes, the orange color could mean "alert" or "warning". The dream seemed pretty positive: someone comes along and needs some water, so I give him some water.

Swaggart is pretty much a salvation preacher--he doesn't get into deep spiritual things like intercession or deliverance from demons. Billy Graham always came across as shallow and conformed to the world. Some people make a religion out of salvation and the "Sinner's Prayer"--which I don't think is Scriptural anyway.

If someone says that they have been saved for many years and they are shallow and spiritually dead, this must mean that Jesus is dead and that Christianity is a lie. If we abide in Christ and are surrendered to Christ, we can't help but grow spiritually every day.

The orange tent really stood out in the dream, so it is very much a significant detail.

  3. Warning is what first comes to mind. Something significant I believe dear brother.
God bless. Let's keep in prayer and be always vigelent.

  4. I have always said that my hitchhiking all over the United States IS the sermon. (It has to mean something, because the Lord told me to hitchhike)

I have been thinking about the prophet Ezekiel when the Lord told him to sleep on his side for many days as a warning to Jerusalem.
