Vicarious Intercession

Dreams from the LORD 2003-2006
17 March 2005

Vicarious. Vicarious sacrifice. Vicarious intercession.

“Vicarious adj. [Lat. vicarius—see VICAR.] 1. Endured or done by one person substituting for another 2. Acting in place of someone or something else. 3. Felt or experienced as if one were taking part in the experience or feelings of another.” (Webster’s II New Riverside University Dictionary)

I hope that this isn’t a stretch, but when I prayed with that youth pastor last summer against a Jezebel spirit, I believe it was a vicarious intercession. A few days later, the Lord showed me “ripple effect.” I believe that that prayer is rippling outward in the spiritual realm taking out Jezebel strongholds. They (the Jezebel strongholds) are falling like dominoes all over the world. The prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Since 2001, the Lord has shown me “Bush”, “George Bush”, “1600”, “White House”, “Washington, D.C.” and anything else that pertains to George W. Bush’s presidency. My life is a vicarious intercession for President Bush to keep Satan off of his back. President Bush’s decision to take out satanic strongholds in Afghanistan and Iraq is having a ripple effect in the Middle East and eventually throughout the world.

Before Joshua could take the Promised Land, he had to take out Jericho first. Before the Allies could take Europe away from the Nazis, they needed to take Normandy first. Before freedom can be established throughout the world, the Taliban and Saddam Hussein have to be taken out first. A mustard seed of faith is all that is required to get the ball rolling. Before Samson slew the thousandth and final Philistine, he started by slaying one Philistine and then two Philistines and then ten Philistines and then one hundred Philistines and so on and so on.

One man with absolute faith in God can move mountains and gain liberty for millions of people. Look at the life of William Wallace in Mel Gibson’s movie Braveheart. First William Wallace (with the help of several men—Wallace’s actions inspired other men to fight for their freedom) took out a local garrison, then another garrison and then eventually invaded northern England. His life inspired Robert the Bruce to fight and win against the English at Bannockburn in 1314. Wallace did not fight for money, land or titles; Wallace fought to make Scotland free from the yoke of tyranny.

Fear of Man or Fear of God?

Dreams from the Lord 2007-2010
17 October 2010

Hebrews 11: 7: “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”

“Being warned of God of things not seen as yet.”

Amos 3: 7: “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”

“Moved with fear.”

I am very grateful that the Lord warns me about certain things before they happen. Whatever the Lord reveals to me, I must move with fear and do what He tells me to do. Maybe He isn’t just warning me about something in my personal life—He may be warning me about something much bigger—like an earthquake.

When I first had the dream about the Las Vegas Earthquake (December 2006), that morning I walked north on this highway and got a ride to this convenience store somewhere north of Evanston, Wyoming. There was a table and some chairs there in the convenience store, so I moved with fear and sat down and wrote down the dream. After I left the convenience store, I hitchhiked to Jackson and stayed with some friends.

For the next several months I thought about and meditated on the dream that the Lord gave to me. At first, I thought that the earthquake was going to happen right away—like in December of 2006. When that didn’t happen, I was curious as to what the Lord wanted me to do with the dream. I told some people about it, but it wasn’t until July of 2007 that I finally put the dream on my website (http://wallsofjericho.50megs.com) Within a few days, I had a dream about “Jericho” on a movie reel. It was confirmation that I was supposed to put the dream on my website. A movie reel symbolizes mass media or to publish something; my website is/was used to publish my writings.

This past February, the Lord impressed upon my heart to start a Google blog. So I moved with fear and started to post some things on my High Plains Drifter blog. It has been a real blessing: I know that it is God’s will for me to have this blog (and also my Digihitch blog: The Highway); I think my Google blog looks better and is more readable that my Walls of Jericho website; I believe that my High Plains Drifter blog is getting much more hits than Walls of Jericho ever did—and it is free.

This is the great wisdom of God: He knows what we need to do much more than we ever will. And this is the wisdom of a Christian: the FEAR of God is the beginning of wisdom. I moved with fear and obeyed the Lord and started my Google blog. I don’t know 99.9 per cent of the people who read my blog, but I believe that the Lord is reaching out to these people with what He inspires me to write.

Tomorrow, God willing, I will move with fear once again and hitchhike out of Riverton and head towards Lander and then to Farson and probably back up to Jackson, Wyoming. Do I know who will pick me up tomorrow? No. But God does. And I believe that the Lord will use my life and possibly my words to reach out to someone or maybe a few people on the road.

Francis of Assisi once said: “Always preach the Gospel and sometimes use words.”

Publish—“To make generally known; to proclaim; to print and issue for sale (books, music, etc.); to put into circulation.”

--Webster’s Dictionary

Always preach the Gospel and sometimes publish; always preach the Gospel and sometimes proclaim; always preach the Gospel and sometimes put into circulation.

Jericho (A Dream)

Walls of Jericho

Dreams from the LORD 2007-2010

1 August 2007

Last night I had a dream where I was watching a movie reel--I was watching the movie slowly, frame by frame. Then I noticed this one frame. On the frame was one word: “Jericho.” I believe “Jericho” means “Walls of Jericho” or http://wallsofjericho.50megs.com/---the name of my website.

Two days ago, when I was at the public library in Arco, Idaho, I typed up the dream that I had about the destruction of Las Vegas (17 December 2006) onto my website. I believe the Lord is telling me that he wants me to warn as many people as I can about the coming destruction of Las Vegas.

3 August 2007

Concerning the dream that I had on the 1st of August. In the dream, I saw three movie reels going at once. The three films were moving very slowly--they were on the horizontal--you could see each individual frame very well. On each frame was a word or a few words. Then I noticed the word “Jericho” on a frame in the middle movie reel. The film was going either right to left or left to right. When I noticed the word “Jericho”, the film stopped moving and the dream ended.

I believe this dream means something other than what I had first thought. At first, I thought this dream meant that the Lord wanted me to warn people about the coming destruction of Las Vegas. Now, I don’t think so. “Jericho” obviously means my life or the work that I am doing for the Lord (intercessory prayer--destroying satanic strongholds). The three films must mean something--maybe mass media or public relations. The frame with “Jericho” on it was right in the center where I could easily see it; it was in the middle, sandwiched between the other two movie reels.

THE POWER OF SPOKEN WORDS

Joshua 6:26: "And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it."

I Kings 16:34: "In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun."

A Hot Meal at a Campfire in Montana

I believe it was in January of 2002 when I got dropped off at the Flying-J Truckstop on the east side of Billings, Montana. I began to walk east on I-90 and walked past the intersection of I-94 and I-90. I continued walking on I-90 up that big hill due south. I probably walked several miles and got into ranch country. By now it was close to sundown.

I noticed this big culvert that ran underneath the interstate, so I walked down into the ditch and put my backpack in the culvert. I found a water tank nearby and walked to the tank and there was a hydrant, so I filled up my water bottle.

I gathered some sticks and anything that would burn and made a fire in the culvert. By now it was dark, so the light of the fire could be seen by anyone driving by--and it threw off some good heat, too. I think it got down to 27 degrees F that night, so it was good to get warmed by the fire.

Within a half hour this pickup pulled off the gravel road a hundred yards away and drove down to the culvert. This man got out of the pickup and asked, "Hey, what's going on?"

"I'm just passing through. Heading south tomorrow," I replied.

"Sounds good." He walked back to his pickup and drove off.

A half hour later, that same pickup drove back down to the culvert. Two men climbed out of the pickup and walked to my fire; one man was holding a plate of food in his hand.

"We thought maybe you could use something to eat," the older man said.

"Hey, thanks," I said. I was very grateful.

We spoke for a while warming ourselves at the fire. I began eating my hot supper--it really hit the spot. The older man was the father of the younger man. They had a ranch up the road.

I then said, "The Lord really knows how to provide."

The older man just shook his head and smiled. They stayed for a few more minutes and then walked back to their pickup and drove off into the night.

After my meal, I found a piece of plastic styrofoam and laid it on the concrete and rolled out my sleeping bag on top of it. It is very difficult to sleep on a slab of cold concrete--there needs to be some insulation between your body and the cold concrete. I remember I tried to sleep under this bridge on I-90 east of Butte, Montana one March or April, but I didn't have any insulation on the ice-cold concrete: I didn't sleep at all that night. We learn through experience.

In that culvert, I had a fire and some insulation to sleep on and I had a hot supper, so I slept well that night.

The next day I headed south into Wyoming.

Here is an email that Glenn Lewis ("Longwalker" - this is the name he used on the hitchhiking website Digihitch.com) sent me back in 2009.  He also sent four photos of the underside of a bridge on Interstate 90 just west of Rocker, Montana (near Butte).

I slept underneath that bridge back in 2007.  I also wrote my name and website on a concrete girder underneath the bridge:  "Tim Shey - wallsofjericho.50megs.com - 25 July 2007".  When I saw Longwalker's name and the website Digihitch.com, that is the first time I had ever heard of Digihitch.  I became a member of Digihitch in 2009 and began to write and publish hitchhiking stories on that website.  The name I used on Digihitch was "Sawman".  Here is Glenn's email:

"Here are a couple of pictures I took from under the overpass. It's a shame I missed you passing through Montana. I left Wichita a week ago last Sunday. I got sun burned that first day and didn't see the sun again for at least a week. I caught rain all the way through Nebraska, Wyoming and when I finally got into Montana I got frightened by this bright light in the sky. I'm in Sisters now doing my laundry (yeah). I'll probably take 20 west to the 101 then south (plan subject to change without notice). Maybe when I leave the NW I'll see where you are then and try and find you."

Have a great day
Glenn
