Nevada man, anti-abortion group sue town of Jackson

Jackson, Wyoming
This is from the Jackson Hole Daily, May 15, 2015:

CHEYENNE (AP) --- A Nevada reverend and an anti-abortion group have filed a civil rights lawsuit against the town of Jackson [Wyoming], claiming his civil rights were violated when police arrested him during a 2011 protest on the Town Square.

The Rev. Chester E. Gallagher, of Las Vegas, and Operation Save America filed the suit Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne.  They name the town and former police Lt. Robert Gilliam as defendants.

Jackson police arrested Gallagher after town officials secured a state court order barring him and other protesters from appearing on the square.

Their 2011 abortion protest was the same weekend as ElkFest, the annual event that features a Boy Scout auction of elk antlers.

The town and other entities last year paid $225, 000 to settle an earlier federal lawsuit filed by Mark Holick, a pastor with Spirit One Christian Ministries in Wichita, Kansas, who also was arrested at the 2011 protest.

Lawyer Jack Edwards is representing Gallagher and Operation Save America after representing Holick.

Edwards said Thursday that he sees important constitutional principles at stake.  When people expose views that others may find offensive, "that's the time when law enforcement has to go out there and protect these people, and protect their rights to voice their opinions in the marketplace," he said.

The anti-abortion protesters who came to Jackson in 2011 had stationed themselves around town and displayed pictures, including some showing aborted fetuses.  The protesters had targeted Jackson because a local physician was the only one in the state who had been open about his willingness to perform abortions as part of his medical practice.

The Wyoming Supreme Court ruled in 2012 that the lower court order banning anti-abortion protesters from the Town Square violated protesters' rights.  The protesters weren't alerted in advance that the town had requested the court order.

"I really have a hard time seeing how they can defend against the unconstitutional actions of the Jackson Police Department in May of 2011," Edwards said.

A receptionist for Audrey Cohen-Davis said she was not aware of any change in town policies as a result of Holick's federal lawsuit.  She said anti-abortion protesters got a permit to be on the square the year after their initial visit.

Cohen-Davis said last year the town's action to settle Holick's lawsuit was the result of a business decision by its insurance carrier.

Some Commentary on the Jackson, Wyoming Fire (2012)

.
Many valley residents prayed during the early stages of the Horsethief Canyon Fire. Some East Jackson residents prayed that their home be spared. Some prayed for the safety of the firefighters. Remember the religious group that came to Jackson this spring to fight for the unborn? They prayed we’d burn down.
.
To be fair, only a select few have been spotted in the blogosphere practically cheering the wildfire. Some even believed their prayers brought it upon our town – a Sodomite Jackson getting its comeuppance. At one blogspot run by Tim Shey, the hitchhiking prophet, the following entry appeared on Monday, September 10, the day rain began to fall on the fire:
.
“I prayed: ‘Lord, if it be Your will to put judgment on Jackson, please stop the rain.’ Five to 10 minutes later it stopped. Then I felt led to pray: ‘Lord, if it be Your will, gust the wind. Send wind. Lord, if it is Your will, gust the wind to 40 mph.’ It went from calm to windy. Currently, it is gusting so strong that it blew a planter off my outside table!”
.
The blogger continued: “My four-and-a-half-year-old sang prophetically ‘God! The evil people deserve to die.’ Jackson has been warned three times. Tomorrow is 9-11, a day of Judgment! A Day for Jackson’s Judgment. He comes like a thief in the night! We serve a God who answers with FIRE! Amen! Our family is safe and is out of the path of the fire! Praise Jesus!”
.
Judging from the comment section, this guy is not alone in his belief that the Horsethief Canyon Fire is being used by or was sent by God to smite Jackson for being pro-choice.
.
I don’t mean to berate or belittle this blogger, or any of the other zealots that visited Jackson in May who share the sentiment. But a rebuking may be in order. I am a believer. God, who commanded the universe into existence, is certainly capable of whipping up a 4,000-acre wildfire to teach a town a lesson. Jesus Christ, who died and rose from the dead to offer salvation from sin by the perfect sacrifice, can easily sic a fire on an ungodly town if He desired.
.
But making these outlandish claims in His name only serve to give Christians a bad name.

Jackson, Wyoming Fire, 2012

Wildfire South of Jackson, Wyoming

[This email was sent to me yesterday]

Hello Dear Saints,

This is [name deleted] in Jackson Hole, WY! I was born in Jackson and lived here most of my life! Fire is not a typical problem in our area!

Saturday 9/8 a small fire broke out South of Jackson [Horsethief Canyon Fire]. It was quickly pushed away from the homes into national forest. This fire is doubling everyday. At first moving west, but it has curved around and back behind Jackson. This morning the sky was black and dark with rain clouds and moisture was in the air. As it rained I felt a burden to pray 'His Will". I prayed...

"Lord if it be Your Will to put judgment on Jackson,
Please stop the rain...if it be your will
I pray Your Will be done here with this fire.
I Pray that you will send 100's of Millions of Angel here to do Your will!"

5-10 minutes later the rain stopped!

The sky is blue and there are NO clouds that look of rain! In fact it is cloudless.

SO then I felt led to pray...

"Lord if it be your will gust the wind. Send wind.
Lord if it is your will gust the wind to 40 mph"

It went from calm to windy. Currently it is gusting so strong that it blew a planter off my outside table!

Right Now the fire is on the Ridge of Snow King Mountain. The fire has burned at least 2,040 acres and is being fought with three helicopters, eight engines, two crews — which are typically 20 firefighters each — and one bulldozer. One firefighting truck was burned Saturday night. A total of 112 persons are engaged in the battle, the U.S. Forest Service incident command said at its Inciweb site for the blaze.

An evacuation advisory remains in effect for east Jackson south of Broadway and east of Redmond, including the Vine Street-Snow King area. No evacuation order has been given.

Jackson Has been warned 3 times. This past May. The Churches banded together to stop the move of God. If the Christian would repent for their sin His mercy would be great. If the pagans would reject abortion and repent by asking for His forgiveness, He would spare them!

[In May of this year there were anti-abortion demonstrations in Jackson, Wyoming by Missionaries to the PreBorn and Operation Save America. These demonstrations were met with much hate speech by many of the people of Jackson.]

My 4 1/2 year old sang prophetically "God! The evil people deserve to die. The good people deserve to live!" Yes, He is sending the wicked great trouble tonight.

The Lord is birthing in me a burden to Pray Prophetically! To release Him to move Here!

Tomorrow is 9/11 a day of Judgment! A Day for Jackson's Judgment. He comes like a thief in the night!
We serve a God who answers with FIRE! Amen!

"When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning." Isaiah 4:4

Our family is safe and is out of the path of the fire! Praise Jesus!

Genesis 19:  27-28:  "And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:  And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and behold, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace."

WYOMING’S BLOODY CITY
By Mark Holick

"To the Presbyterian Church and Paul Hayden:  you said you have 'adamantly pro-life' and 'adamantly pro-choice' people in your church, this is an abomination. What Bible are you preaching from? Does the sixth Commandment mean anything to you? The 'diversity' you spoke of is a euphemism for; we accept sin, even those who support the shedding of innocent blood. I urge you to repent. Woe to them who call evil good and good evil (Is. 5:12). You and your church are not pro-life in any sense. Stop the hypocrisy. Be honest and tell everyone that you are a pro-abortion/murder church.

"To River Crossings and Mike Atkins:  you reject your pro-life brothers and sisters in the Lord (escorted out) and embrace practicers of witchcraft (invited in), your choice (and rejection) of friends is telling. How long has Blue been murdering babies in your city that you are the leading pro-life elder of? You don’t like our 'methods,' you say you want to be the local leader, so what is your plan to save those babies who will have their little fingers, toes and eyes chopped off by Blue next week, in your city? Go ahead Mike, light another candle.

"To Community Bible Church and Don Landis:  you rejected us outright. And was elated to have your brother in the Lord cited. So what is your plan to end the killing in your city? What is your responsibility Don, (Dt. 21:1-9, Pr. 24:11-12)?

"To St. John’s Episcopal:  your support of the shedding of innocent blood and homosexuality is an abomination. You are not a Christian Church, you are an apostate church. Repentance is your only hope.

"To all those of the 'civility, compassion, love campaign':  you are pro-aborts, by another name. The shedding of innocent blood is acceptable with you. We felt your 'civility, compassion, and love' all week long with F words, vehicular assault attempts, vandalism, and the largest flock of birds we have seen in any city. Where is your civility, compassion, and love for your preborn neighbor? Your hypocritical civility, compassion, love means you support the murder of innocent children…with a smile.

"To the Jackson Police:  you deceived us…again. Some men keep their word, others do not. Your petty harassments on Sunday were tripe.

"To the Federal Government lackey who threatened us with FACE and hounded us all week while befriending a man who sheds blood for a buck:  you had no reason to be involved in any way with peaceful, law abiding, Christians ministering the gospel of Jesus. You sir, are a bully with a badge.

"To all law enforcement:  did you swear an oath to the Constitution or to codes and ordinances? And if you say both, then which takes precedence?

"To the Jackson Mayor and City council:  yours is a bloody city and your overt protection of the most violent man in the whole of Wyoming is on you, before the Lord God, His Name is Jesus, King of kings, who is the Great Judge of all the earth (Is. 11:4). May He have mercy on your eternal soul.

"To those who name the name of Christ Jesus and either attacked us or disassociated yourself from us:  you threw your unborn neighbors, who have fallen among thieves, under the bus (Lk. 10:29-37). …For so persecuted they the prophets which were before you (Mt. 5:12). If you are a true Christian but simply a Nicodemus by night (Jn. 3:1-2), then it is time to come out of the stained glass cave, and boldly cry out against the evil of your city. Justice is every Christians calling from the Lord!

"To those who dislike our graphic signs:  we dislike them also. However, who is in the wrong, those who show the pictures or those who make the pictures? Shall we shoot the messenger? You did not like our 'method,' so tell us, what is your method to stop the killing of 100’s of little baby boys and girls, this year, next week, in your city? Or is the truth that, you just don’t care?"

"John Brown was the 'The meteor of the war,' as author Herman Melville called him. John Brown was an abolitionist, and a religious fanatic. Some say that John Brown is a martyr. Brown believed he was an instrument of God."

Anti-Abortion Protest in Jackson, Wyoming

I have some friends who are protesting against an abortion clinic in Jackson, Wyoming.  Jackson is the liberal, enviro-pagan capital of Wyoming.

A friend of mine recently wrote on Facebook:

"Jackson! Christians! I just thought you should know that at Town Council meeting tonight, they would not allow a table to hand out bibles and tracts at Elk Fest! Bibles and Tracts should be always allowed! We should not take this lightly! The Gospel is rejected. I believe it is made possible because we are not standing together! Do you care? I hope we realize that we are loosing ground and need to stand firm!"

Today's Baal Worshipers

Today's Baal Worshipers

December 19, 2008

By Matt Barber

"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9 NIV)

Modern-day liberals – or "progressives" as they more discreetly prefer – labor under an awkward misconception; namely, that there is anything remotely "progressive" about the fundamental canons of their blind, secular-humanist faith. In fact, today's liberalism is largely a sanitized retread of an antiquated mythology – one that significantly predates the only truly progressive movement: biblical Christianity.

While visiting the Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, Va., a few weeks back, I heard a troubling, albeit thought-provoking, sermon. Pastor John Maybray addressed the ancient Canaanite practice of Baal worship and, though he didn't reveal it by name, connected the dots to its present-day progeny: liberalism. Baal, the half-bull, half-man god of fertility, was the focal point of pagan idolatry in Semitic Israel until God revealed His monotheistic nature to Judaism's forebears.

In his sermon, Pastor Maybray illustrated that, although they've now assumed a more contemporary flair, the fundamentals of Baal worship remain alive and well today. The principal pillars of Baalism were child sacrifice, sexual immorality (both heterosexual and homosexual) and pantheism (reverence of creation over the Creator).

Ritualistic Baal worship, in sum, looked a little like this: Adults would gather around the altar of Baal. Infants would then be burned alive as a sacrificial offering to the deity. Amid horrific screams and the stench of charred human flesh, congregants – men and women alike – would engage in bisexual orgies. The ritual of convenience was intended to produce economic prosperity by prompting Baal to bring rain for the fertility of "mother earth."

The natural consequences of such behavior – pregnancy and childbirth – and the associated financial burdens of "unplanned parenthood" were easily offset. One could either choose to engage in homosexual conduct or – with child sacrifice available on demand – could simply take part in another fertility ceremony to "terminate" the unwanted child.

Modern liberalism deviates little from its ancient predecessor. While its macabre rituals have been sanitized with flowery and euphemistic terms of art, its core tenets and practices remain eerily similar. The worship of "fertility" has been replaced with worship of "reproductive freedom" or "choice." Child sacrifice via burnt offering has been updated, ever so slightly, to become child sacrifice by way of abortion. The ritualistic promotion, practice and celebration of both heterosexual and homosexual immorality and promiscuity have been carefully whitewashed – yet wholeheartedly embraced – by the cults of radical feminism, militant "gay rights" and "comprehensive sex education." And, the pantheistic worship of "mother earth" has been substituted – in name only – for radical environmentalism.

But it's not just self-styled "progressives" or secular humanists who have adopted the fundamental pillars of Baalism. In these postmodern times, we've also been graced, regrettably, by the advent of counter-biblical "emergent Christianity" or "quasi-Christianity," as I prefer to call it.

This is merely liberalism all dolled up and gratuitously stamped "Christian." It's a way for left-wing ideologues to have their "religion" cake and eat it too. Under the guise of "social justice," its adherents often support – or at least rationalize – the same pro-homosexual, pro-abortion and radical environmental policies pushed by the modern-day Baal worshiper.

Though the "Christian left" represent what is arguably a negligible minority within larger Christianity, the liberal media have, nonetheless, embraced their cause and seized upon their popularity among elites as evidence that the so-called "Christian right" (read: biblical Christianity) is losing influence – that Christianity is, somehow, "catching up with the times."

Because emergent Christianity fails the authenticity test whenever subjected to even the most perfunctory biblical scrutiny, I suspect it will eventually go – for the most part – the way of the pet rock or the Macarena. But this does not absolve leaders within the evangelical community from a duty to call leaders of this counter-biblical revolution on their heresy. It's not a matter of right versus left; it's a matter of right versus wrong – of biblical versus non-biblical.

Nonetheless, the aforementioned pillars of postmodern Baalism – abortion, sexual relativism and radical environmentalism – will almost certainly make rapid headway over the next four to eight years, with or without help from the Christian left. The gods of liberalism have a new high priest in Barack Obama, and enjoy many devout followers in the Democratic-controlled Congress, liberal media and halls of academia.

Both Obama's social agenda and that of the 111th Congress are rife with unfettered pro-abortion, freedom-chilling, pro-homosexual and power-grabbing environmentalist objectives. The same kind of "hope, action and change," I suppose, that was swallowed up by the Baalist Canaanites of old.

So, today's liberalism is really just a very old book with a shiny new cover. A philosophy rooted in ancient pagan traditions, of which there is naught to be proud.

There's "nothing new under the sun," indeed.

Stand Up [Letter to the Editor]

"In the 11 years I've lived in Jackson, I've never seen this community shaken up so much as when the protesters from Kansas and Operation Save America showed up. I heard a month before that a radical anti-abortion group was planning on coming to protest. I didn't think that was a good idea, because it seemed too controversial.

"I completely forgot about it until the Wednesday morning they arrived on Broadway to deliver their 'shock and awe campaign.' When I saw the graphic pictures of the aborted baby, I was shocked and deeply offended. I wasn't offended that OSA showed the pictures in public, but I was offended that this is happening in our community on Saturday mornings.

"For years, I've driven past Emerg-A-Care [Brent Blue's office], admiring the airplane propellers over the entrance without thinking about what takes place inside. I've since talked with several churchgoers about this. They said they agreed with OSA's pro-life stance but didn't agree with the delivery of the group's message, because it wasn't a loving-enough approach.

"The Bible says an open rebuke is better than hidden love. Isaiah 58: 1 says, 'Show my people their sins.' Abortion is horrific, and showing graphic pictures humanizes it.

"A major turning point in the civil rights battle was the murder and open-casket funeral of 14-year-old Emmett Till. Tens of thousands of people filed past Emmett's body to see the horrors of segregation. As the brutal photos circulated around the country and television coverage of police violence against peaceful protesters in Birmingham made its way into America's living rooms, we decided we weren't going to tolerate it anymore.

"OSA's protesting strategy has led to hundreds of abortion clinics being shut down around the country. They save thousands of unborn children's lives, each year. In Wichita Kan., the hometown of many of the protesters, all three abortion clinics have been shut down. The graphic pictures are effective in changing minds. My family and I stood for several hours with the protesters, and, let me tell you, it was uncomfortable. I haven't been flipped off or threatened like that before, but standing up for those who don't have a voice is worth it.

"To the Christians and churchgoers in this community, don't be afraid to stand up for what you know is right, even if it puts you in an uncomfortable spot among your peers."

The Lord wants mankind to SUBDUE (kabash) the earth, NOT worship the earth. Mankind has DOMINION over the earth. Mankind worships the Creator, NOT the creation.

Pagans worship the earth; Christians SUBDUE the earth.
