The Second Coming

New Jerusalem is a spiritual city

It was the last week of July in 1982 that I asked Jesus Christ into my life. I was working on my dad's cattle farm in Iowa. I had been suicidal since the age of fifteen. My dad put me in a mental hospital for several days earlier that summer. He had me pay the hospital bill. The psychiatrist diagnosed me as suffering from depression and gave me some medication which didn't do any good.

I remember the morning that I asked Christ into my life. I walked over to the window of my bedroom and looked outside. I then did a 360, turning and looking around at the walls of my bedroom, then returning back to the window.

I said something like, "There is nothing on this planet; there is no reason for me to be here." I was really sick of living and daydreamed of blowing my brains out with a gun.

I then walked over to my bed and got on my knees and said, "Christ, if you are God, will you please come into my life." It was the toughest prayer I have ever prayed in my life. I don't know why, but I didn't feel the Presence of God until three days later. I knew I had eternal life.

For the next three or four years, I went through a time of great tribulation (purification). It was very unpleasant and I still struggled with suicidal thoughts. This was a time of dying to self (I am still dying to self) and letting the Lord have His way with me. He was pruning my vine and it was very painful.

During this three or four years of tribulation, I spent time in three more mental hospitals. This one psychiatrist diagnosed me as manic-depressive. I had to pay another $4,000.00 in hospital bills (this wiped out my hard-earned life savings). My dad later told me that he paid for all of these hospital bills. If I have any integrity in me, it sure didn't come from my dad.

In October of 1985, I prayed another prayer of desperation. I said, "Lord, either You are going to heal me of manic-depression or else I am going to blow my brains out." Less than three months later, my faith in Jesus Christ healed me of manic-depression (demonic bondage). This healing began on the 7th of January in 1986 at a monastery in Nebraska.

I drove back home and told my parents that the Lord healed me of manic-depression. Their reaction was very unfavorable. My dad occasionally would mock me and make fun of me and ask me if I was still on my medication (I was on lithium and a low dosage of an anti-psychotic, which didn't do much good) (I told them that I was getting off of my medication). The mocking by my dad got so bad, that for three days during Easter Week--Thursday, Friday and Saturday--I had this hot, searing pain in my hands, my feet, my side and there was a circle of pain around my head. It was very painful; it really wore me out. I was working on my dad's farm and it was very painful to walk and driving the tractor was difficult. On Easter Sunday, the pain was gone.

When one door closes, another door opens. My family did not receive my powerful testimony of healing, so I left my dad's farm in April of 1986. Eventually I started hitchhiking around the western United States. Being healed of manic-depression and having a sound, healthy mind was absolutely liberating. It was like I had been born again all over again. My hitchhiking led me to central Washington.

In September of 1986, I was living at a Christian hostel in Ellensburg, Washington. It was then that the Lord came to me a Second Time (The Second Coming). Since September of 1986, there has been a constant burning in my forehead (the Presence of God).

Within a week of experiencing The Second Coming, I was attacked by the devil. All day long, there was this evil presence all over me; it was like someone had put a heavy blanket of oppression on me. I got very angry and shouted, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, begone, Satan!" Suddenly, the evil presence was gone. It was such a relief. Praise the Lord!

The Second Coming has been happening to purified vessels (I am still being purified; the Lord is still delivering me of demons) since after the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that the first man to experience The Second Coming was the Apostle John.

John 21: 20-23: "Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?"

I have been living in New Jerusalem (it is a spiritual city) since September of 1986. I am very grateful for what the Lord has done in my life.

"The Kingdom comes not with observation."

[The Kingdom of Heaven is not seen by our physical eyes, it is perceived in our spirit by the power of the Holy Ghost in spiritual (purified, dead to self) believers.  Also, I would like to add, that The Second Coming IS NOT the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  I was baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues in September of 1988--two years after Jesus came to me spiritually The Second Time.]

Chapter IX
"A Visit to the Southern Counties Which Ends in Launceston Jail"
1655-1656

"While I was in prison here, the Baptists and Fifth-monarchy men prophesied that this year Christ should come, and reign upon earth a thousand years. And they looked upon this reign to be outward: when He was come inwardly in the hearts of His people, to reign and rule; where these professors* would not receive Him. So they failed in their prophecy and expectation, and had not the possession of Him. But Christ is come, and doth dwell and reign in the hearts of His people. Thousands, at the door of whose hearts He hath been knocking have opened to Him, and He is come in, and doth sup with them, and they with Him; the heavenly supper with the heavenly and spiritual man. So many of these Baptists and Monarchy-people turned the greatest enemies to the followers of Christ; but He reigns in the hearts of His saints over all their envy."

*professor--someone who professes to be a Christian, but is not really saved. Someone who has Christ in his head, but rejects Christ in his spirit. Outward (false) salvation versus inward (true) salvation: "The letter kills [outward], but the Spirit gives life [inward]."

Chapter XIV
"Labors, Dangers and Sufferings"
1661-1662

"But I told them that the whore was alive in them, and was not burned with God's fire, nor judged in them with the same power and Spirit the Apostles were in; and that their looking for Christ's coming outwardly to set up His kingdom was like the Pharisees' 'Lo here,' and 'Lo there.' But Christ was come, and had set up His kingdom above sixteen hundred years ago, according to Nebuchadnezzar's dream and Daniel's prophecy, and He had dashed to pieces the four monarchies, the great image, with its head of gold, breast and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and its feet part of iron part of clay; and they were all blown away with God's wind, as the chaff in the summer threshing-floor."

Chapter XVII
"At the Work of Organizing"
1667-1670

"Whilst I was under this spiritual suffering the state of the New Jerusalem which comes down out of heaven was opened to me; which some carnal-minded people had looked upon to be like an outward city dropped out of the elements. I saw the beauty and glory of it, the length, the breadth, and the height thereof, all in complete proportion. I saw that all who are within the Light of Christ, and in His faith, of which He is the author; and in the Spirit, the Holy Ghost, which Christ and the holy prophets and apostles were in; and within the grace, and truth, and power of God, which are the walls of the city; -- I saw that such are within the city, are members of it, and have right to eat of the Tree of Life, which yields her fruit every month, and whose leaves are for the healing of the nations.

"Many things more did I see concerning the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, which are hard to be uttered, and would be hard to be received. But, in short, this holy city is within the Light, and all that are within the Light, are within the city; the gates whereof stand open all the day (for there is no night there), that all may come in."

Below is a comment by Jerry Collins that is right on target when describing The Second Coming.  Jerry Collins' comment is #20 on the post "Is the Japan Earthquake in Bible Prophecy".

"I agree with the notes posted on 7/15/2011 by the filter. Jesus did indeed tell his disciples that there were some standing there that would see the kingdom come before they died. Please note that jesus was asked about the kingdom and responded “the kingdom of God cometh not with observation (you can’t see it) neither shall you say lo here or lo there for behold, the kingdom of God is within you”. This is really clear don’t you think? The kingdom is a spiritual kingdom and can’t be seen. The point most people miss is that the kingdom did come just as he said (in their lifetime). Read acts 2 and you will find that Peter did not say this is similar to what the prophets predicted but he said "this IS THAT which was spoken by the prophet Joel that it will come to pass IN THE LAST DAYS that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh…"  The last days according to Peter were right then and any other interpretation would call Peter’s statement untrue.  The last days simply meant the end of the first covenant and the start of the new whereby we can all (Jews and gentiles alike) enter the kingdom. This is why in Colossians Paul stated that “he HATH (already) translated us into THE KINGDOM OF HIS DEAR SON”. If Paul could get into the kingdom then, why are we still looking for his kingdom? Jesus also said ” My kingdom is not of this world”; should we deny that he knew what he was talking about. Another thought … in Matthew 24 Jesus was talking directly to HIS DISCIPLES and them ALONE! He never even hinted that anything he spoke about would happen thousands of years later. Read this for yourself and see if this is not true. He never said the frequency of earthquakes meant a sign of anything… same about famines, pestilence, etc. He simply said these are the beginning of sorrows. All this stuff about these things being signs of the last days is false and manmade, it is not in Matthew 24. If you don’t believe this, show me THE VERSE that says otherwise. Also read Matthew 24 verse 34 which clearly says "THIS GENERATION (the one they were living in) shall not pass till ALL these things be fulfilled." There are 15 other places where Jesus used the phrase “this generation or a wicked and adulterous generation” and no one has any doubt that he meant the one present at that time, yet people try to twist his words to fit their purpose. I will take the words of Christ over any theologian any day. Jesus was describing the destruction of the temple and the end of the Jews as the covenant people, not some end of the world scenario.  (As a matter of fact, the Bible never mentions the end of time; Daniel calls it The time of the end. The end of what? Genesis 8 says God will never again destroy every living thing. All these rapture theories describe everyone except the raptured ones being killed contrary to God’s word.)  I know that many will disregard this because they have always been taught otherwise; please take this test (as a dear friend and minister used to tell me)… Don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself and see if everything I have said is true. God bless you all and I pray you too will be translated into his kingdom while here on earth."

  2. Thank you for your comment, Stan.

Theresa: I am staying with a friend in the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming. She said that I could stay here for a week, if I had to. It is very rare for me to be off the road for a whole week--sounds like a vacation.

I hope things are going well with you at school. About a week ago, I had a pleasant surprise. I hitchhiked from Jackson to Riverton, Wyoming and stopped at my friend's place and turned on the TV. I saw this interview on C-Span: this editor from The Washington Post was interviewing Jane Smiley; she was my professor for three days back in 1989. Dr. Smiley taught creative writing at Iowa State University; she was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1992 for her novel "A Thousand Acres"--it was later made into a movie. If you want to read more, go to my post entitled "The Computer and Iowa State University."

I am guessing I will hit the road in a few days. Take care.

  3. II Samuel 5: 17-21: "But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim. And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them."

"Baal-perazim" means "the lord who breaks out".

  4. Most Christians think The Second Coming is going to happen sometime in the future. The Second Coming has been happening to purified vessels for the past two thousand years.

When the Scriptures says that He will come with clouds, this means that He will be hidden--The Second Coming will not be observed with carnal, physical eyes. Spiritual eyes will be able to observe The Second Coming. Most Christians don't have spiritual eyes.

"The spiritual man judges all things."

"The Kingdom comes not with observation."

  5. Scriptures on The Second Coming:

Mark 9: 1: "And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power."

Matthew 16: 28: "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom."

Mark 13: 26: "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory."

Luke 9: 27: "But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God."

  7. Shane and Angel:

Thanks again for the ride to Lewiston, Idaho. I made it from Kooskia, Idaho to Pilot Rock, Oregon (just south of Pendleton) that same day. I camped out that night and then got rides all the way through John Day and Burns to Lakeview. The next day I got a ride with a guy who was friends with my friends in Northern California. He phoned them and I spoke with Susie and she and John were going to a wedding near Sacramento. He drove me to their place and bought the last copy of my book (High Plains Drifter) that Susie had. I was able to see them before they left for a couple of days. Perfect timing.

The whole trip from Wyoming to California went very fast and was very Providential. I am not sure how long I will be here.

I hope your college classes are going well. Take care and study hard.

  8. Sarah: I think I know what preterism is, but I am not a preterist.

When a blood-washed believer goes through a time of purificatin (tribulation), then the Lord comes to that believer a second time, because that believer is pure enough for the Lord (Lordship, not salvation) to reside in him. Salvation and Lordship are two different things.

I asked Christ into my life in 1982 and then I went through a 3 to 4-year time of great tribulation. The Lord came to me a second time in September of 1986 (the Presence of God has been permanent in my life; before September 1986, the Presence of God would come and go). I was baptized with the evidence of speaking in tongues in September of 1988.

We know that the physical in the Old Testament is a foreshadowing of the spiritual in the New Testament. Shallow, carnal Christians can only think in physical terms and not spiritual terms--because, of course, they are not spiritual. The Second Coming is spiritual, rapture is spiritual, we perceive the Lord's voice in our spirit--though the Lord can speak to us in an audible voice.

Speaking of rapture. Rapture is when the Lord glorifies your body. You can also call this the Presence of God becoming very strong or the Holy Ghost falls heavy on you. When this rapture takes place in me, this usually means that the Lord is removing a Satanic stronghold in me or in somebody or someplace else. A day before Saddam Hussein was captured, I was really burning up in the Holy Ghost--I believe other believers were burning up in the Holy Ghost when this Satanic stronghold (Saddam Hussein) was removed.

I have been living in New Jerusalem for many years now. "All good things come from above." "The Kingdom comes not with observation."

  9. Revelation 3: 5-6: "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

Sarah: If you look at Revelation Chapter 3, the Scripture is talking about people who are overcoming. After we have overcome the sins in our bodies, then we become pure--this is something that we do AFTER we are saved. Works do not effect salvation, but good works do effect purification. Shallow, carnal Christians think that salvation is instant--this is not true, because we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Justification is instant) "Draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh to you."

I believe there is a Scripture in the Book of Revelation where the Lord rides on a white horse. What does this mean? White means purity and the horse means power.

After the Lord came to me a second time, my life in Christ has been in the power of the Holy Ghost and there is much more purity in my life. And, of course, the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues has added to this Holy Ghost power and fire.

The Holy Ghost gives us power in our witness; dying to self gives us depth and purity.

  10. Sarah: The preterist, I believe, thinks that Christ already came back in the first century in His physical body. There is no doubt that Christ came back to John the Second Time spiritually in the first century:

John 21: 20-24: "Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true."

Preterists and non-preterists seem to think that Jesus will come back and every Christian will see Him with their physical eyes. That's crazy! Just look at all of the carnal, shallow, milk bottle Christians out there that haven't gone through any purification.

The Lord will come back for a church without spot or wrinkle--purified of demons/sin. The Lord has been coming back to individual believers for the past two thousand years who have been purified of sin (through tribulation).
