The Reprobate Mind

Reprobate (adjective). "1. Archaic. Rejected as not of standard purity or fineness; condemned. 2. Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of a scoundrel; vicious; corrupt. 3. Theol. Condemned or rejected by God's decree. Hence, morally abandoned; depraved; --said of persons. A depraved, vicious, or unprincipled person; a scoundrel."

--Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary

Romans 1: 28: "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient." (King James Version)

Romans 1: 28: "And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper." (New American Standard Bible)

Putting your trust in big government (or church membership) and not in Jesus Christ is idolatry.

Marxism is the opiate for the reprobate mind.

  1. Interesting thoughts! There is definitely something to be said for people who closely follow a church and then hold themselves above others because of it, and who listen to the church leaders before the actual Word of God.

    I always liked this quote:

"If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all."

  2. To think that we have salvation because of church membership is idolatry.

Salvation is knowing Jesus personally--it is a spiritual relationship.
